I stayed home this morning to play MWO. But I can't bring myself to start it up given I find the minimap so disorienting.

I won't say "not gonna play til fixed" but I will say "not playing it this morning due to it not yet being fixed".

I'll see how I feel tonight.

So, the fix that works best so far:

Can we have the BattleGrid centre on our mech, and rotate with the mech's torso, so that it's showing the radar readout from the transmitters attached to the mech? Then, make the battlegrid transparent or small and unobtrusive, maybe in the bottom centre of the HUD.

add me to the list please.

dissapointed that I won't be able to complete the 100 grab bag event, but it's too irritating playing with the game in it's current state.

Maybe use seismic sensor a little less?
I've never used it nor did I ever need it. I found out I happened to have one as an early adopter reward, which I decided to equip to try it out, but so far it's been useless. Not because I can't see the blips on my map, but because I don't sit around waiting for the enemy to get close enough to trigger it. At this point it's just taking up a module slot for no reason.

When the hotfix's there and the minimap will rotate, have coordinates written into the quadrants and I have a cone of view again, I will surely play MWO. The only thing I am still angry with is PGI itself. Such things, especially when they are massivly critized prior to the release of the patch, have to be playtested by a greater audience. Make it an event and give every participant a special title and a lot of people will gratefully do the job for (almost) free.

But no, PGI is doing things like this for nearly four years now and every time it happens, I feel more angry about it.

Like Grand Admiral Thrawn said: "Anyone can make an error. But that error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it."

Not sure if I'll get enough stompy-robbit hungry to stomach the 'new' map, especially when a decent fix seems to be just around the corner ('this week' said Alex Garden). Probably you won't see me until then.

I have Phoenix Hawks to grind, I have no time for sitting around and waiting for the map to be fixed.

P.S. It will be soon anyway.

At least a LOT less pugtards in the pugtard queue.

Guess we can thank them and PGI for that.

:)

What I found most disorienting with the patch far more than the minimp (I just stopped looking at the minimap) was nonstop:
Affirmative! Affirmative! Affirmative! Help! Affirmative! Sorry! Sorry! Affirmative!

Please stop. Please use Voip.
-Help!-

For all that is holy and sacred please just use voip!

-Affirmative!-

Well you missed a fantastic night... I had a blast playing for a few hours last night romping on the brand new frozen city.. The mini-map didn't bother me.. Sure it needs a few fixes and additions, but the idea is solid..

Was more fun than i have had in many months.. All the new resized mechs, and seeing how they played out, and the great new map.. Guess more fun for me!

Dude,, the map is not as big of a deal as people say... Just shows you how many people rely on Seismic But it still worked, jsut didn't give an exact location, you just knew they were close.. (honestly how i think it should work anyway, this pin-point stuff to me is OP anyway.

I found i could keep track of my teammates by twisting, and using Look and side windows. and i just tried to be more aware, verse using mini-map for all Info..It did make the game a little harder.. But seriously, is that such a bad thing? I guess for people in this thread yup,,,Posted Image

(the one thing that did bug me was the missing arrows for torso/legs, But i mapped a key to center my legs, and that was an easy work around for that.. but that is getting patched in anyway, so no biggy,, i can deal a few days and enjoy the event, and still have fun.

Obviously taste is subjective. I was suffering vertigo myself trying to use it. One of the posts showed a post it note over it, which might do the job for me [and render it completely useless]
