Zombie mechs are beyond overrated. Move fast, hit hard, you'll find you're more durable, as long as you twist, than with a std. And keep your arm longer. YLW doesn't come close to meeting its potential without an xl. If one insists on a Zombie, use the slow poke AH.

Yeah but it's hard to pack secondary weaponry of note on the AH, comparatively..

True, but if you lose the side torsos on an AH, you have nothing left to zombie with! Besides, a Wang can fit a 250STD, as well as 3 tons of ac20 ammo, and case. Granted it doesn't use the higher engine cap of the Wang.

I prefer the Enforcer 4P to the Wang, just person preference.

Someone actually uses case?

Ever have 3.5T of ac20 ammo detonate in your side torso of a standard engine mech? Might as well run an XL at that point :P

Technically the Huginn can run 149KPH with an AC/20, but that only leaves 2 tons left for ammo and armor. I've done reasonably well in 0-armor lights before the rescale, but this was too crazy for even me. Sooo, probably not what you're looking for.

This is probably your best bet if you want to focus entirely on running fast and having an AC/20. CN9-YLW is better, but sometimes minmaxing beyond the point of viability is more fun.

Probably why I don't store ammo in my ST.

the best choice for ac20 on a medium is blackjack with 3 medium laser and jumpjets imo.

hunchback is very tough and its a better support mech that can act from the frontline.

but blackjack is the kind of mech that flies like a butterfly and stings like a bee, you can use it to wreak havoc on the enemy's backside or sweep from the roof to make a deadly flank

that's how i see it, one is more for working inside a formation in a defensive manner and the other is more for offensive play

Here you go, have fun. Shave some more armor off and you can add a small laser or two as backup.

...

But the BJ-1DC has better AC/20 quirks than BJ-1 IMO, and the former can't mount JJs. Relevant quirks:

BJ-1DC (no JJ):
  • Ballsitic CD: -25%
  • Ballistic Heat: -25%
  • Laser Duration: -15%
BJ-1 (yes JJs):
  • Ballistic CD: -15%
  • Ballistic Heat: -5%
  • Ballistic Velocity: +30%
  • Laser Range: +10%
If you use your BJ more like a close range poptart/peek-a-boo machine with an AC/20 then the BJ-1 with its 30% Ballistic Speed quirk might be better.

No, I bet you haven't.

The odds of having four separate ammo explosions when you're still at 100% ammo are absurdly low.

One ton ammo exploding means you're done, with or without CASE: A Zombie cent with just 2 MPL/ML is no longer a credible threat and just not relevant.

The WANG can much better use that .5t in either more engine or more ammo.

CASE is bad, all the time. It's terrible. Using CASE merely demonstrates a lack of knowledge about how crits and ammo explosions work.

The benefit of the STD engine isn't being a zombie. The benefit of the STD engine is "spending" a side torso as well as the arm, going full on sword and board. CASE doesn't help with that, because you'd be a fool to pack any ammo in the shield side.

But the loss of twist speed costs you more than the STD engine gains you. I'm all for STD's in a lot of mediums, but not the Wang. To use a Wang well, you need the speed of the bigger engine - not so much to get around (though that matters) but most significantly in your ability to twist damage. It's very easy to spread damage on a 280-300XL Wang, and doing so ensures you can keep fighting at 100% longer. At 250, you're twisting a lot slower, so opponents get more warning when you're lining up your '20, and more time to exploit that after you fire.

The Wang is somewhat unique in it's ability to arm mount a '20 for precision, AND mount an XL. That's something very few lighter mechs can manage. It's a shame to lose that advantage. If you're going to go without, you may as well run the more compact HBK-4G.

And ultimately, you can't put CASE in your head (where Ton #1 of ammo should always be) and then in your legs, where the rest should be.

Fastest while being somewhat useful, and with enough ammo to matter.

And then QQ about arty and airstrikes when they pop your head like a zit?

Never really cared for shield arms without armor... They last longer as a shield with armor I my experience..

Hunchie 4G. It's not the fastest AC20 mech...but it's the fastest viable AC20 mech.

The Wang is a close 2nd in my opinion.

Drop the engine to a 325, add some armor and 2 mediums.

Yeah. Works. IDK I hear ENF is more meta and all, these days, but I still can't say I'd take it over a Wang. I just seem to click a Heck of a lot better. Barring that, I'd still take the 4G or a BJ-1 over any ENF. That said, the ENF fits the OP's criteria better.

I'm definitely not the best proponent of it, I don't really use my ballistics enforcers, I love the 2 large pulse 3 medium enforcer though, it's fantastic.

Honestly, MetaVomit Enforcers (while admittedly just a symptom of the actual problem), were a large part of what turned me off from Enforcers. The fubar'd head and general lazy modeling probably did more to ruin it, but seeing all the "gunless" ENFs certainly didn't help. Man that thing needs some serious TLC. Bad modeling of the head and arms along with stiff rigging in the arms (an epidemic in this game I'm hoping IK helps with) just ruins out for me.

I wasn't a huge fan of the appearance of the grasshopper in that pack, the enforcer never really bothered me. The advantage of being in the cockpit though for you would be you wouldn't have to look at it lol.

I don't tend towards meta builds, but you can't argue with success and a pair of large pulse on a fairly quick mech with jjs just works.

My other 2, one runs a guass with a few lasers, the other runs 3 AC 2s, well it doesn't exactly run, the build is a lotta fun though.

What is the Fastest IS AC20 mech? The Flame?

AC20 Raven can be the fastest... but... if you make it faster than 100kph you can't run enough armor or ammo to actually do anything.

So... fastest practical AC20 mech is the wang at 106 kph and the enforcer 4p which while it CAN run 120kph... won't have enough ammo to really work that AC20 if it's going that fast. However... I've always prefered the Hunchie 4G as my go to quick AC20 mech. Not sure why but the damn thing dances for me.

Other honorable mentions include the good old shadowhawks, and the treb 7k. The SH and treb though... you're realistically gonna want them more in the 80 kph range before tweaks since they need a STD engine.
