Yes and No.
Yes, you just bought a variant you already owned, which will not help you with the "three different variants of the same chassis" for skill progression.
No. You SHOULD still have your (C)Champion variant, unless you sold it somehow. Could you have the wrong tab option open? (Click on "show all owned".) As far as I know though (which I could be wrong), the Steam packages should come with an (S) variant, not a (C) version. Champion (C) variants grant an Experience boost to that mech when used in combat. This is a very limiting reward, as eventually the mech becomes mastered and then sits on experience (unless you pay real money to convert that mech experience into general experience). However, that EXP boost does grant a small boost to General Experience gained. However, the (S) version should have a 30% C-bill boost, which is far more helpful.
I'll also mention that the Champion(C) variants of mechs are also trial mechs. Trial mechs are free mechs for you to use, but you can not customize them and do not technically own them. So, if you selected "view owned", the trial champion mech may not show up, as you don't own it.
I hope this helps answer your questions? If not, let me know!

You did get screwed in that there's no reason to buy the "regular" TBR-C if you already have the Champion variant. A champion 'mech is the very same 'mech, just with two differences:
- it comes with a different default loadout
- a champion 'mech has a +30% XP bonus
So regardless of whether it's the champion or normal version, you can always later set up the 'mech however you like, so apart from the XP bonus it makes no difference which you have.
If you've made a purchase you immediately regret, do to not understanding the system, you can send a courteous e-mail to support. I've done similar things in the past, and they agreed to reverse the transaction.

The most likely reason for them not to appear is you have a filter activated, I believe there are Mechlab filters to show/hide Hero Mechs, Champion Mechs, regular Mechs Owned Mechs and Trial Mechs, as well as to select a specific weight class.
if a Mech is not showing up make sure you have both or all selected on the filters where possible and try toggling on/off the hero and Champion filters

Yup you done screwed up... do what this guy says, they give you a nice one time reverse.. and 15m on a paid account is worth getting it reversed.. But now you found the forums, in the future just ask before you do something you are unsure of, the forum warriors here are very nice and helpful. Even getting close to 4 years i still ask Q's, cause there is so much to know.

Edit: I should point out something to clear some confusion up really quick.
"TBR-C" is a variant (In MWO's perspective; won't get into that).
TBR-C (C ) is a Version. See the () marks? It does not denote a variant, but a version of a variant. It marks 'where it came from'. (R ) for example came from "Resistance" packages, (S) came from Steam or the recent Special variants in individual mech preorders or from Sarah's Mech which is a special cancer donation Jenner mech from 2013.
TBR-S is a variant.
TBR-C (S) is a version of the TBR-C variant. Note the distinction of parenthesis. All versions are the same as the specific variant. Back to the post.
There are two things as said above.
One: The Timber Wolf TBR-C(S) is what comes with the Heavy package, which is superior to the (C ) version. It is superior in that it gives a 30% cbill bonus instead of a 30% experience bonus (which is limited because there is only so much experience you can use on the mech).
Two, the TBR-C... in any 'version', is still the TBR-C. So having more than one is a bit of a moot point save for Faction Warfare in which case having more than one meaning that when one is destroyed you can respawn in the other. (But since it is an Omnimech, just have another Timber Wolf and build it the same way to save time and money).
As said above, put in a request to support. Not only are you still new but you're also "Blue New" which means you haven't even had the chance to play 25 matches before making a mistake, as such they won't have any trouble helping you fix it. Also throw in that the New Player Help sent you to them.

If I may, I would suggest that when you get the 15 million cbills returned, consider looking into the Timber Wolf TBR-Prime and the TBR-S.
The only "unique" body parts that can't be replaced on an Omnimech are the center torsos. The Prime has a weapon hardpoint that isn't common on the CT, and the S has a jumpjet installed in the CT (so you can jump -- okay it's really more of a hop -- even if you don't use any other "S" parts).
The prime, I personally love, because it has the CT ballistic hardpoint which I usually use for a 'third' machine gun, something impossible on any other config. (You need to swap the energy ST for a ballistic one, not a big deal, but after that 3 MGs).
Afterwards, you'll have this: And this is so much fun!
Good luck, new guy, and remember these tips:
1) The (Blank ) of a mech name is just a tacked on designation for the bonus it gives (S), (L), etc. are all cbill bonuses which also tells where it came from (L) for example is Loyalty meaning it was given out for free for meeting some conditions as a customer such as "If you bought a pre-order package this year, you'll get this Loyalty mech as our thanks". (C ) is an experience bonus, and (C ) versions are literally (in my opinion) not worth the time or money because it's basically a "pre-souped-up" free mech that you have to spend money on.
2) In combat, if the enemy mech is too fast, shoot the legs. Can't run with a broken leg, can they?
3) If the enemy has a lot of weapons on one side -- SHOOT that side! Kill it quick! No weapons, can't hurt you. Right?
4) Wherever you shoot, make sure to keep shooting there until something "Happens." For example if you keep shooting an arm it will blow off. Keep shooting a leg and it will limp. Shoot it in the cockpit and.. well no Meat and it goes Vegetable.

And return here if you're ever unsure of something.
Welcome to MWO.

Quick side note:
Mech Select.
Filters.
"Clan" or "Both" for faction. TBR is a Clan mech.
"Owned."
Should come up.
If not, make sure to look at "Hero, Champion, All" filters. If it doesn't appear under champion it could be under hero. But you should always look under "All".
Keep it under the weight class "Heavy" or "All" and remember to expand any "drop-lists" you might see.
The filters are more for people like myself, who have played for four years and acquired 190+ mechs and can't find one specific mech because it changed its name to Waldo.

- SKILLS window - TBR-C / 3 mechs, no separating plain from (S) from (C) if you own all 3.
- STORE window - before purchasing TBR-C, the plain version, it will TBR-C none owned, TBR-C (C) 1 owned. TBR-C (S) does not show since it is a special purchase.
- HOME/SELECT mech - shows the TBR-C(C) and TBR-C(S). Once the plain version TBR-C is purchased then you can see it there as the 3rd mech.

The Timber C(C) is a champion, like all (C) mechs, But that instead gives you an XP booster, which comes in handy for the most part especially with GXP. Other champions can also get other bonuses like nice engines, or Has built in upgrades endo, Ferro and/or double heat sinks, though not all have everything. It really is dependent on the mech. Basically you get a short cut and a fully built mech, often completed for much less than it would cost you, especially on sale. For example i bought a Locust (C) on sale, it had double heat sinks+ endo and an XL engine for like 480MC, which saved me around 7m credits. It will now also help me earn GXP that is a long grind every time i play it. Play a few events, and it is like getting a free mech!
The typical Timber-C for c-bills, has no boosters, and i think has a different stock build, but not sure. Often they are different though. but check this http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ to double check on exact build comparisons.
FYI
The innersphere mastery packs on the other hand come with a champion, (XP booster), Hero (cbill booster) and one normal C-bill mech.
Other packages the types vary, so best to ask and double check what kinda boosters other packages get if you are unsure.

Your TBR-C(S)--the one you got from the Steam Pack--CANNOT be sold. I know because I tried to sell my Steam Thunderbolt, and couldn't. I think this is the case with most or all +Cbills versions.
So it's either in your
EDIT: Switching to Garage, because the TBR-C(S) will definitely show in your 'MechLab Select Mech screen, but might not show up in the "Inventory" screen--this is because it can't be sold.
