As for clan vs IS balance. It is pretty close on to which one is more powerful in FW but i think the clans have the slight edge with the UACs and longer range with the current mechs.

This could still be a big issue... [obligatory complaint about mech imbalance etc... though not just about streakcrows]. Final found the time to get a few rounds in... it was bad.

I suppose getting those 10 wins is easy peasy as a clanner.

There does not appear to be an enemy.
How can I finish the challenge this way?

I am with you. The clan sit back and let the long tom take out 10-20 mechs before engaging. Not a fair system by any means. I just need 3 wins for the mech. But with long toms and no one in the queue to play against I am out of luck.

three days in a row we dropped, and had 38% of the planet taken before the first 30 minutes. Scouting hadn't even activated satellite sweep at this point. Most of a planet's fighting is actually done before LT is active,
That's not to say fights don't happen, I got in two drops after a 20+ min wait each time on planets where we had Longtom (i finished the challenge and wanted to mess around, leaving spots in groups for people who needed to finish still) And spent most of the map up top of the buildings of vitric forge watching the Longtom kill enemies (13 before they got the gate open the first drop) generally once a planet goes 84% the big units will switch over, both in invasion and scouting, moving to the next planet, the fastest I've sene this happen was an hour...

I can only tell you from my experience. About 3/5 of the games I have played since this event started have had long tom arty.
I have seen how the clans do not attempt to engage until after 2 or more long tom hits. By this time they have a 4-8 kill advantage.
I personally seen to lose 2-3 mechs a game to long tom. One time I got hit about 100 meter out of the drop zone. No one around and other team members on the board. (If I did not know better, I swear I get targeted disproportional)

As an IS player, the only option if you want to play a match is to face the Long Tom since that is where 90% of the clan players are queuing.
Here is an example of a scouting neutral planet this morning (the only other planet with activity was stacked with attackers and 90% scouted with long tom):
Sometimes I wonder why I'm still playing!
Edit: The best thing you can do as IS is try to fit in a few matches right after ceasefire before long tom becomes active (typically takes about an hour for streakcrows to fully scout a planet).

The other day here Jade Falcon had long tom per usual but we broke up our 12 man invasion squad into 3 scout lances and went at them. We were able to bring their intel down to 80% with about 1 hour until cease fire. With those conditions we reformed our invasion force though a few dropped out as it was late. Managed to get in a couple games, 1 playing through cease fire, but in the end I was able to complete both sides of the challenge. It is possible to get wins vs Jade Falcon even without a full 12 man pre-made team. It does help to not face their more competitive play squad like Merc Star, which is more of less a lottery.
What it really takes to get though these challenges is starting early and lots of time. From the very moment it was announced, I knew the invasion side would be the harder part as it is best to go in as a 12 man team with coms and usually with others that you have played with before. Sadly its the waiting for matches which is th killer part. The second part is having others that will help continue event to help others complete theirs even once they have finished, but often the issue here is folks get burned out by just trying to complete their own challenge due to the amount of time waiting for matches.
30 minute waits to play matches that may last 30 minutes is not an efficient use of anyone's time. PGI needs to understand waiting isn't FUN... and no fun means no MONEY.
For future events for FW, PGI should have a win without a match score count towards the grand prize, but then put in a little bonus that relies on match score. This way all that time waiting around and getting ghost drops will have counted for something and might even make it where their are less of them. That is if some players were trying to prevent others from completing the challenges here by not showing up... IE we have 100% of the planet now we can leave and don't have to spend time here any more, so much for others getting matches.
For those lone stragglers that are under Marik banner, I suggest you come see about HouseMarik.enjinvoice.com TS server - friendly folks.

P.S. in-game LFG tool is absolutely useless for some factions like marik and liao coz there are too few players in there to form a decent grp, and there are too low planets to choose from to drop...
The LFG tool was introduced here before the addition of scouting missions and it isn't exactly useless its just not as useful as it could or should be. With the split of Faction Warfare between invasion and scouting the LFG is less useful since anyone just sitting in there can't be distinguished as to which they are looking for, but sadly PGI has the faction chat area which you can sit at and scream into until you a blue in the face trying to find others to come help/play what you are after.
The additional downside here is no real tool for a global chat or such to come recruit other that are just coming out of matches over in quick play or a universal display of all players looking for the exact play modes. Quick play, Invasion, Scouting. Additional while you are locked into a queue in FW you can't chat with others that have been picked up until it locks into a match totally. So many broken basic concepts that need attention PGI, why don't they slow down mech releases and design team for that for a while and spent that budget on getting key component of the game improved so we can bring back those that have left and encourage others to come try the came without all these problems to make it more successful. BATTLETECH has a large fan base but when a company takes a shot at making a game and messes it up ... so may just get turned off and then we all end up waiting years and years before someone else tries.
PGI PLEASE FIX CORE ISSUES and stop worrying about trying to maximize profits before you drive yourself right out of business!

The Scouting challenge I think is achievable in a one-week time frame for people with real lives.
The Invasion challenge should be at least two weeks in duration for people with real lives since the achievement criteria cannot realistically be adjusted mid-challenge.
I am not in a Group/Unit, I am solo in QP and FP at the moment. I may join a group if I ever figure out how to find one made up of mature players that do not curse, swear, fart, belch, or berate each other or be otherwise-condescending and ego-patronizing of others. Maybe it is my age showing here, but I happen to think gaming can be fun without the impoliteness and drama.
Scouting matches are brief but intense, and success of course breeds motivation to continue with the challenge. Choosing a proper battlemech is essential, owned / mastered and ideally with a full complement of modules. Personally I do not think StreakCrows are OP at all. Griffins and Hunchies are just as dangerous.
Invasion matches are tedious and time-demanding. I spent many hours grinding away in Invasion matches to complete the challenge, and I readily admit that there were moments when I thought this challenge event was unachievable. There were also moments when I genuinely just wanted to quit playing MWO entirely, the frustration was so strong. However, with the support of others I did manage to succeed enough to complete the challenge, and I thank all of those who helped, from individuals to groups/units who carried me when my performance was not up to standard. Again, choosing proper battlemechs is essential, at least owned / mastered 'mechs, and ideally with a full complement of supporting modules, just like in Scouting.
I definitely feel a sense of having worked very hard to get the challenge event prizes, and I am very thankful for the two 'mech bays and the Nova and Mad Dog I chose for my garage.
LongTom just needs some adjustment. The battlemech would not have become the ultimate military tool in the lore if LongTom was actually powerful enough to destroy lances of completely fresh 'mechs in a single shot. Suit the technology to the lore. I think we all fear Air Strikes and Artillery Strikes enough already that if all LongTom becomes is automated targeted Air / Arty Strikes of the same power as manually-initiated strikes we would fear LongTom more than our own manual strikes for sure. This would ensure LongTom has a benefit of achieving it, while not being the overpowered tool it is at the moment. It could even be manually-initiated by the company commander one-to-six times a match (depending on Scouting status for the planet) but not requiring a module. Simple enough to do I think.
So, for those who thought this was all TL;DR - the challenge event should be extended to July 8th for Scouting and July 14/15 for Invasion.
See you on the battlefields.
And as the great Buckaroo Banzai once said, "Don't be mean. We don't have to mean. Because just remember, wherever you go.... there you are."

Hunchie/Cent meta vs. Nova meta sounds pretty cool.
