Sigh. Unless PGI is willing to allow engine and upgrade swaping for OmniMechs what's the point of Linebacker? It's worthless in every way possible. Even Kingfisher would've been a more viable mech.

IMHO - Linebacker - thanks for making it that simple to keep my wallet safe
(Clams teddy, chicken, Cat... have to be a Welp mech)

I guess it's the linebacker then. Shame, that.

Going by base canon hardpoint counts, it will be effectively a faster, jumping mad dog.
5 missile + 9 energy or 6 missile + 5 energy. Doesn't possess the tonnage to really utilize them, but could potentially pack a hard punch up close.

Math off the top of my head comes to 85 damage shotgun alpha with 5x SRM4 and 9x small lasers, 5 tons of ammo and the rest in heatsinks. It will still be really toasty, and borderline suicidal to wield such a loadout in a squishy clan heavy in an age of 50+ pinpoint laser vomit juggernauts.

Quirks are right out the window, because if they do they will have to compensate on the ebon jaguar and hellbringer to keep those fair. No quirks on a clam 65 tonner means its going to lose armor and torsos in but two well aimed alpha strikes.

This is fine. I want to see every mech represented. No point in trying to ruin that for the rest of us by yelling and screaming about some unrelated issues in the game.

I don't know what it will be quirked like, but its hardly the first mech with limited hardpoints that can be made good in other ways.

Linebacker - will not find much backers
Hm in this special case they should move back to the UrbanMech model.

Let the players pay first - if the money doesn't is enough don't do it, refund it.Would save the company some money.

well chicken legs + arms, seems to be reasonable to buy and replace he HBR as 65t mech visually (but may suck in comparison to superior HBR hadpoints). And the EBJ? well thats the other competitor, not sue how they will compare to eahc other, EBJ ahs some great hardpoint locations too. The Linebacker really has to rely on the speed to make the difference.

ES + FF is great together with the speed it gets an interetsing choice. especially for spamming more laz0rs.

will also make a loat streakboat fans happy. (and the anti streakboat crowd cry)

what is the full armored free tonnage it has?

Now you start to make sense, but yet.....

Who else can support you? I don't say this as a challenge to your argument but otherwise as in honesty a tally of whom is wanting actual change as opposed to berate PGI...

I'm only nine pages late, but hi.

This game is dead to me outside of competitive play. And a lot of people on the competitive scene right now are predicting that there's a chance the competitive scene could die after WC is over. For a lot of us, there's nothing left in MWO - 3rd party leagues are the only thing keeping many of us around. PGI hasn't made CW meaningful and fulfilling, PGI hasn't shaken up the game to keep it interesting in any way (save the requirkening in December and then the rescale), PGI hasn't introduced anything new to expand our experiences (via new gamemodes that aren't utterly shjt like Domination is for public queue, or even new mechanics like proper InfoTech that isn't laserlock bullshjt), PGI hasn't managed to release more than 1 map every second month (and most of the 'new' maps lately have simply been expansions on the old ones or extensively borrowing existing palletes) ... MWO is still the same 12v12 deathmatch that it was in late 2013 except now there's more mechs and a slightly more diverse competitive meta. Maybe it's just a case of games only having a lifetime of 2-4 years per individual player, or maybe it's a case of the developer letting the game stagnate so that it fails to hold our fascination. But either way... there's no reason to buy mechpacks anymore for anybody that has already invested a decent amount.

I buy and play mechs I like, trying the competitive way hard is just killing any game sooner or later since it gets stale and boring. true competition never gooes along with much diversity. Thats why they get boring so quick for many. Take CS, its very much the same since ever. what makes the competitive scene sufficient in palyers is the general fansize of CS. MWO is too much niche to ever have enough people being interested in competition to keep that scene healthly populated. I doubt PGI could add any mode that keeps up competitiveness for long they would all bore out soon.

the game isn't dead outside the competition, in fact the game is most alive in the medcore warrior funstompers range. But that isn't where competitive people will find joy.

As a guy who favours mechs mostly by appearance, I cannot wait. Linebacker is a very sexy machine and was one of my main MW4 mechs. Huntsman is also very tempting because of how great it looks... I just can't justify waiting that long.

Yay for PGI to pursuing eSports then
Sigh
It's not getting more diverse and "fun" as it's been the last year's is it?

Then again maybe I'm just seeing things a bit too narrow as well
It's not like other games kept me interested for years and years

Ahem, heh. MW4 still entertains me. Also spent 5 years playing DAoC, mainly because every class out of 40ish played differently, and even different builds on the same class played differently.

Lately, DOOM 2016 has been grabbing my attention. Those sweet, sweet gibs are so much fun.
