Normally PGI would have announced a major project or focus of the next best thing to come to MWO. I've been waiting to find out the direction they plan on going, but due to my lack of interest I may have missed it.

All focus seems like it's on the attendance tournament, but I don't see how that ties up the programmers, artists, and general staff.

Heatscale? Obviously takes 100.000 Man hours to implement... HUGE project.
Also changing the Long Tom will take AGES to implement.. huge project there as well.
New minimap took two years to implement... (and revoked within 2 days)
(If somebody finds sarcasm.. keep it)

Otherwise... wanna buy a mech pack?
Fenris and Gargoyle had a baby, its a Linebacker

The tournament is the coffin for MWO because it FORCES many players to play the game now when they are on a participating team (due to limitations to 12 players per team). After the tournament is done you will see a lot of burnouts leaving MWO.

I understand your illogically bitter and emotional, but I have to call you on a fact that you mentioned..the one about taking 2 years for a new mini-map. Please link or reference...thx

Fixed chat!

Don't listen to grumpy Antares Posted Image.
Something being changed after 2 years doesn't necessarily mean it took 2 years to fix it.
There are multiple things being done in parallel, some have higher priorities than others. Etc.
The change hasn't been reverted completely, only one singular geometrical aspect of it.

I have to agree on the tournament stuff, though. Waste of time and even counterproductive.

I read a lot of exciting things.
Solaris, even a replay function (yeah! Posted Image)
Singleplayer, AIs.
The new power system MIGHT be good (or might be bad, don't want to sugarcoat it).

I still like playing MWO Posted Image

I'm looking forward to Solaris and a new power system.

If Solaris is another team gamemode i'll be dissapointed. I want a free for all where i have only enemies.
Power system as in energy is consumed when we run, fire weapons and all kinds of things?
That would be great. Less singleclick alpha builds and more using our brains to win.

But untill that happens i'm very much burned out with MWO. Haven't played in about half a year. Haven't played seriously with a lot of matches in a row in.....over a year?

A lot of people complain about the lack of depth and that this game is (still) just a deathmatch game. You know what? As a family man with a career, this game suits me perfectly. Occasionally I have a few hours in the evening to hunker down and play but a lot of my gaming is done in 30-60 minute game sessions. I would welcome more features/game modes/progression but as a Founder/Phoenix Overlord/Resistance Blood Pact I feel like I've got my money's worth.

I'm asking the same question. Normally I would be logging in to be supportive of the efforts to improve the game.

For me?
  • PVE campaign, inspired by MW1 and MW2:Mercs. Choosing your own missions, buying and repairing mechs, hiring and firing squadmates, etc.
  • Solaris.
  • New skill trees enhancing role warfare, integrated with command wheel and minimap.
  • Information warfare, building on the things that received positive feedback in the past (i.e. not ghost range, but variable detection distance, target lock time, etc)

Umm to all saying Solaris you are aware they won't put in in unless they plan on upgrading the engine right? With all the "excuses" that keep getting dropped my gut feeling says it's not coming to fruition.

Can everyone just drop out of the tournament already so we go back to fixing the game?

I mean if you win sure you'll get money, but no one will think you're the top team, seeing as too many teams had to quit due to over restricted rules and unrealistic time dedications. You have to be unemployed to participate in the tournament. I only work 15 days a month and I still wouldn't be able to commit.

Upgrading the engine? What does that have to do with Solaris? I don't understand.

I'm just enjoying the game for what it is and will continue to do so.

Perhaps its the people who have unrealistic expectations and are still bitter about broken promises who should be moving on.

To answer the OP, I'm looking forward to decals (a favourite of mine from MW4) and the new assault game mode.

In order for Solairs to be "successful" PGI feels they need a replay function (like halo) in order to justify Solairs (I would agree, also content creators like myself could freely advertise MWO better with these tools). Without it we technically already have what Solairs generally will be just need to remove teams from Deathmatch and boom you've got Solairs.

In order to get that they would likely have to use Unreal Engine (I'm not sure if the new CryEngine has it) reguardless it's more feasible to upgrade the engine instead of building the replay feature from scratch.

Decals are already done... I think a lot of us are trying to figure out if the next step of MWO will be worth the wait or not.
