The decals are funny and everything but this patch is giving me bizarre frame rate swings for some reason. Also, as with some other patches, I get a random Disconnect in the middle of some matches. And before the random obligatory forum-fool chimes in, it's not my connection, I was monitoring it when I DCed twice after patching. I don't DC in other online games and it's not a hardware failure. Oh well...time to waste an hour with the bloody repair tool again.

Hmmm, just logged in and checked out the decals. Can I say "meh"? Also, why does it allow you to apply a decal to the inside of a gun barrel, eg, AC20 on my BJ1C allowed me to install a smiley face to a hole...

Connecting to the game is still taking me as long as it used to. I wrongly assumed this was tied in to the save game improvement. Yet to see this in action.

They explained in the patch notes that decals that cover the cockpit are transparent from within the cockpit. This is perfectly logical btw, just as in REAL life... goggle skins can be seen thru quite clearly even though from anyone looking at you, you might have skull eyes or something. Same goes with the black mesh lens covers on truck lightbar lights. The light shines thru them JUST fine at night.

Cockpit has to stand out, you should not be able to put decals on the glass. Yes, technically it would be possible, but that just breaks things. Also, you definitely shouldn't be able to put decals on inside of the weapon barrels.

Glad to see Long Tom getting nerfed some more but there's not enough here to fix faction play. I really miss playing and having an overall structure to the game but I just can't get into it until it's balanced. Before scouting mode was added it was fine, but Clan vs IS mechs when limited to an engagement of 4 light and mediums just is one of the most unbalanced things I've ever witnessed in a game ever. It almost feels like they're not trying to balance it at all. And the fact Clan get 6 SSRM's and IS only get 2. I'm not even a huge fan of SSRM's but when you don't have to aim them and you can focus on lasering or cannoning someone while your autoaim missiles take them apart, that's a huge advantage for most players. SRM's might have better damage and accuracy but if you're aiming your missiles and trying to hit with a second close-up weapon too you're accuracy with both is going to suffer.

Give IS SSRM 6's. It only makes sense. Would you ever see Russia able to make a 6 tube missile launcher but then for no reason America can only think of how to make a 2? They're ******* stupid missiles. Give them both to both sides, this is the dumbest thing ever to set it up like this. Plus the IS live in a concentration of space where man has developed and already built settlements. You're telling me the Clans go off into nowhere and not only are they able to develop planets that can defend themselves just as much as the ones that've had human forces on them for hundreds of years, but they also can make weapon systems that are 3 times better? Come on now. Logic, common sense, use it.

Yep, the fast save is a red herring. It is the connecting screen I spend more time in. Sigh, come on guys, get with the program.

Really disappointed with this patch.Firstly had to free up an excessive amount of space on my hard drive for this patch to install. This meant deleting another game which I now have to re download and install.Secondly performance took a hit and mwo now runs poorly.Spent a couple of hours on test maps adjusting settings and was not able to find one that I'm happy with.Biggest issues apart from the graphic stuttering is the range at which objects and textures are now rendering and a frosted glass like curtain becomes visible (mainly when looking at objects) at roughly 250m. Was also having hit detection issues and connecting wait time has increased noticeably when loading back to the menu screen from a test map.

Man, this is fictional universe first of all intended for tabletop gaming. If you want to find common sense in that mess I got bad news for you. Posted Image

P.S.

By the way this last patch is the buggiest I've ever seen.

Some games just seem to need to do this, I don't know why. Payday 2 I've had small 300 or so MB patches that forced me to free up to 20 GB's of space. Not only that, but it did this every time the game patched, whether it was a large patch or a small one.

As for performance, get any Windows Updates/service packs, graphic driver updates, and anything your pc manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer has on their website that seems tied to anything performance-related. I'm patching right now so haven't had a chance to play yet but if I notice any difference, I'll add it here. And if you're like me and use Nvidia GPU's, uninstall that stupid Geforce Experience. I hate idiot-proofing things so much that they think people need an app to adjust game settings automatically.

Hmm... nerfing acceleration on warhammer and maruader suck for us who run them with standard engines especially the maraduer was sluggish as it was with standard engine.
trying to force us to run them with XL so we die faster ? :)

Ya know this is the fault of everyone complaining about decals... no decals...no frame rate problem. Make up your minds.

I just want balanced gameplay, that should take priority over mimicking a pen and paper rpg. I can't give a crap about faction gameplay when I see scouting mode is always in the 90+% red because IS vs Clan is an awesome idea but not when you limit it to such a tiny group of specific mechs. I played the crap out of faction gameplay up until about a month ago. I even like scouting mode, but something needs to be done to make it not seem so one-sided everytime you enter it. The only way to really win is during Protect Intel if you're IS is to rush the ring in the final seconds, and if you're defending intel as IS hope that maybe the other team are complete blithering idiots and you can beat the odds, but given the entire game is about accumulating points for one side of another, it ends up they're going to win more rounds. It's just simple probability.

Doesn't the saying go "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?" Well, I guess I'm not insane enough for Faction Play because I'm not playing it until something is done about it. Before scouting mode we held the Clans at bay and it made me want to do my part to resist them encroaching on us, but it's become just this unstoppable rush taking over everything.

Maybe they did this on purpose? To make it look like what they setup for the game organically followed it's finale they talked about? A clan reaching the center of the IS? It almost seems that way and that is so stupid.

Yeah, I have experienced this too ... It just takes longer to get you to home screen when you start the game, or when you finish a match.

The save time is now a blast, but I have noticed a bug of some sort concerning the Kodiak loadout save. Changing the loadout on the Kodiak and saving it resulted in weapons missing on the loadout on one occasion (and labeling the mech invalid) and on another occasion a removed weapon being reset into the same slot it was removed from before saving. The first one happened about a month ago and the second one this morning.

Has anyone else seen this?

I'm getting stuttering and heavy lag for up to 3 minutes into a match, and I'm often well engaged by then. Getting hammered because of it.

I can confirm this. Is there already a bug report?

Funny thing, that JF forces now have reached Marik borders and still can't reach the Earth. Maybe developers don't want them to "conquer" this planet. By the way the Earth is occupied by "PGI" Posted Image
Generally I think they (developers) just don't really know what and how to do things right. Coz game got bigger and more complex each patch and they just don't have game designing team good, competent and/or bright enough to pull off this huge project in its current state. So they just act randomly. Sadly this is a bad sign. Posted Image

I know, I just never considered normal faction logos to be anything "special" and since we are already getting items like faction banners for our cockpits as faction warfare reward so you know I was thinking that perhaps faction decals will end up as rewards too.
