However, if you're really searching for more of that mechassault style of gameplay, check MechAssault: Reign of Thunder out.

and iam glad it will be the same in mwo.
they should have made mechassault 3 instead of that reign of thunder thing, those mechs look lame compared to the BT mechs.

If you played MechAssault as a kid you were the correct target audience for the product. When FASA Interactive was started up, the man in charge was Denny Thorley, Denny came out of the console industry and wanted to take the FASA games to that market, believing that was the market, not to mention MS was looking for the killer app to put on the Xbox to compete with the existing consoles at the time. MWO looks to be going back to the earlier days of MW2/GBL/Mercs MW3/MW4 days. You will still have all the cool Mechs, and weapons, on top of that you will have the depth that was missing from the MechAssault game.

And that is pretty fail logic. If they had called it the new Mechwarrior and made it that way then go ahead and be mad but why would people care at all about a new IP? I started with the tt game decades ago and Mechassault was fun.

If you are truly serious about the question... Then no - it is nothing like that travesty of a BattleTech game.

If youre downloading the game you could just as well go for the full game.
MW4 is free and the full version can be downloaded from the net.
Or you could take a look at MWLL (Mechwarrior Living Legends), a total conversion multiplayer only mod for Crysis wars.

I personally don't hate it, but I think they wasted a lot of potential by not using all the good stuff the Battletech universe has to offer.

If you have patience i would recomend watching the MwO gameply videos and wait for the release to take it to a spin.
Also if you like the battletech universe, check the wiki at

I'm just saying how it is. A lot of people hate the game. It had the same Mechs and it borrowed from Battletech. And as evident by OP, a lot of people think Mechassault is Mechwarrior.

Scientific studies have shown that sleeping with your face on a keyboard is not very restful. In order to maximize your MWO playing time, you should sleep lying down on a soft surface, as this will regenerate your energy the fastest and allow you to wake up sooner for more playing!

Good man. Everyone knows that sleep deprivation increases your gaming response time, right?
