It's all over for lights as a meaningful competitive part of the game. It's going to be boring slow paced gameplay from now on. 99% won't be using lights, only maybe top tier players looking for an exceptionally difficult challenge against much lower skill players.

Despite what heavy/assault pilots say they are always targeting lights first when there are lots of other targets because they have been some of the hardest things to kill for virtually the entires game lifespan, and will wreck an entire assault lance if ignored for more than 20 seconds.

Fixed that for you :P

Maybe they did years and years ago before I even played, and they are still going on about it even now that lights are already made totally useless.

When lights are gone from the game totally they will probably still be saying the same thing.

I'm all about lights breaking off to do their light thing, but I don't see any reason for enough movement to circle a map twice.

Imagine that an enemy team is actually a brawler deck and moving along the canyons. You have to move, even sometimes circle an entire map twice in order to control their move and relay info to your team.

If I'm sniping, I'll try to distract the enemy as much as I can from a flank.

You peek from the same spot twice your dead. Because there is a guy with hands growing from the right place in a dual-Gauss-dual-ERPPC Kodiak in the enemy team. I.e. you need to move. A lot.

You don't hunt in a light in comp. Because enemy heavies and assaults are nearly always together. You as much as try to engage one of em in a light your dead. And if you hunt for enemy lights then they aren't exactly dumb either, they try to run you into their main group or at least into their firing lines, i.e. there is a lot of running between lights.

But every minute running around is a minute of dps my team doesn't have, so I get to fighting as soon as possible. That doesn't mean I Rambo in there all yolo like.

Matches aren't won by DPS. Especially so on maps like canyons that does not allow easy access and movement everywhere to mechs without JJs. Fighting as soon as possible either means you go full-yolo-brawl with your dropdeck or that you are stupid. Positioning, fire lines, aggressive manouvering with fast harassers and discipline wins.

I just played as an Atlas, I destroyed a jenner without even really thinking about it, it stopped for a second at medium-long range, one not particularly well aimed shot and it exploded.

We can play "what if" all day. Of course there are plenty of drawn out matches where you have to be patient. That's the beauty of PvP, every fight is different. Unless you drop on Crimson Straight, then it's "camp the platform" 99% of the time.

The faster I can start harassing, the sooner my team can take that advantage and start doing their thing. How is that a bad thing?

Well the entire discussion we are having started with that picture and you saying that running around as much means team has a minus mech. And that picutre comes from analizing tactics used for the tournament that is currently held on Canyons, so ...

Hm. No. Solo PUGs are the same, use same "tactics" and "movements" every time. I can predict what a solo PUG team will do with 98% accuracy. Competitive drops are also predictable, mostly due to a rather limited pool of mechs and builds that really work, but to a lesser degree. There are very unorthodox strategies used in comp, but it is rare.

Well if you start harassing when their entire team is together and pointing their guns at the area where they expect you to start harassing them ...
Splat.

So from all I have typed and written that debunk your arguements you have chose that as your reply....Yeah Kinda done with this dialogue when players inherently ignore ways to play better.

Going to go ahead and call it now..... dude you really have no idea what you are talking about. Many of us have been playing lights since the get go. Some of us are better than others. If you are having fun at your tier level great... I am glad for you..... however when you graduate and get your big boy pants and start competing you will see very quickly just how wrong you are about lights.....

You can pick and choose the stat order..... so for match score I am 3000 bu for total wins I am 53rd... .top right hand corner... did not know you could separate them like that.

For you and for all others, who complain about Light nerfs. Lights aren't intended to openly attack enemies and have never been. If you got used to such kind of gameplay and now cry, that you want to play exactly like this - then you should know, that you have never been intended to play Lights this way, cuz it's actually unintended cheat/exploit. It happened only due to PGI, being incompetent, not knowing limitations their game engine (at which speed/size ratio quantization/aiming problems start to happen) and simple rules of game design, such as responsiveness of game (i.e. player should be sure, whether he has hit target or not - not guess it) - as the result, allowing such pure cheats/exploits, as invulnerable Lights, to happen.

Huum it smell some rage there...
Why you are so angry vs lights ? Maybe they are or were tough with you ?

Wait i go check yours stats for understand yours feelings..
Stats in QP leaderboard:

Assault : 22 match - 9 kills - 0,83 W/L
( seem you brawl a bit too early or you use lrms boat and don't get the kill after 10 minutes lrming non stop? In both case something is wrong )
Heavy : 11 match - 2 kills - 4,5 W/L
( you play only in group queue maybe, yours teamates use you as meat shield and stole yours kills ? )
Medium : 0 match - 0 kills - x W/L
( waiting queue was too big maybe ? )
Light : 0 match - 0 kills - x W/L
( Posted Image waiting queue can't be too big in this case )

Overall: 33 match - 11 kills - 1,36 W/L
( damn for my part i can't play a game where i kill once every 3 matchs )

Ok ok i understand your post now.
You only play heavy and assaut you think only those warfare roles are legit in this game. Thoses lights perform only becose of cheating, exploiting lol.

TY

Don't listen to MrMadGuy, he's a salty assault pilot who doesn't believe in a viable Light class.

How can it be over when it never started? Only a handful of lights were effective in combat and that was due to great hitboxes, speed and quirks.

I don't seem to have the same issues you are guys are reporting but then I am still in tier 3. I tend to use flanking and concealment heavily though, so it's hard to get shots on me before I start chewing on mechs.
