numbers, shark teeth/mouth (like the warthog plane)... yellow/black stripes. checkered patterns..
swords, axes... stars, crosses, flaming skulls.
things that you would paint on your miniature.
instead what we got is lips, smiley faces... what the hell!!!!!!
this doesn't make the mechs look anything like the miniatures.
it makes them look like a meme!
this shoulda been something that enhanced immersion and instead it breaks it!!!!!!

but you are using reverse logic, and thats incorrect, Word of Warships introduced a immersion breaking feature and thats why they allowed to turn it off. to reestablish the immersion.
MWO does NOT introuduce any immersion breakign stuff )only for people with a self made up immersion) and therefore does not require an off button. Further if MWO had ti from the entire beginnine, no one would rant and just accepted this possibility. It's just the salty whine of some people trying to find some "reasons" as "immersion breaking" to revert what was done.
So, to be clear, because you think these decals are wonderful, nobody else deserves to have the option to not display them even though such an option would not in any way reduce your ability to enjoy mech dongs and whatever other "immersion" the decals bring to the game... and this selfish belief is justified by claiming that an optional off switch for each player's display would magically "undo" all the effort that's been put into allowing us to put smiley faces and lips on our mechs.
That is truly one of the worst lines of reasoning I've ever seen on the internet, including the drek I've read on political forums. It's madness like that which explains why PGI doesn't read these forums.

Oh wait, we did. When it was announced in December.
So many chances to do the right thing and build immersion and instead we get this. And Russ says we would get worse if the license was in the hands of someone else?
I'll roll the dice.
Wallet extremely closed.

I am having a hard time convincing myself to log in... even just to look at my new vipers....
See you guys in a month or so.

IMO if decals don't hurt framerate then what's it matter. There's already mechs with crazy paint jobs...
Hopefully pgi can make decals look prettier over time.
And yah, it's not crazy to think I'd buy decals and want other players to see therm too. It's about as selfish as the guy with the custom paint job on his car you see on the road. Bumper stickers offend y'all too?

I would likely eject myself in more ways than one.
But in all seriousness, People want to express themselves and stand out. Just as the uniquely skinned Hero mechs do. I don't see the difference. If people want to drive their '75ton bundle of love, kisses and happy hugs" war machine onto the battle field looking like a Mardi Gras float then all the power to them! Nothing would stop them in the 30th century and nothing should stop them now.

It also ruins the art style.
What is that supposed to mean, exactly? Women are delicate wallflowers that have to be shielded from the big scary world now?

Lips and smiley faces are also things in BT, and in military branches. I mean we literlaly have the highlander "heavy metal" which belonged to a woman who loved hot pink. A hot pink mech. What, do we say we should remove the colour for being immersion breaking? well doing so would be immersion breaking itself...
And face it, what breaks immersion, the fact these deckals are in game or t he fact people slap them in odd places to form phallic objects and new heads.
actually thinking about it... wasn't there a mercenary unit or something that they had their insignia be a smiley face with 3 arrows coming from it?... I remember seeing it on some BT figures...
