Thanks so much for the communication.

I also thought that the double tap ghost heat mechanic was intended.

You don't have to double tap. However, if you choose the CAC10, you get:

1 more slot

Twice as expensive

Longer base cooldown (2.9 seconds versus 2.5 seconds)

Does that sound like a "better" weapon? No. It's still complete ****. None of the CACs are good. Use the UACs instead.

Simply comparing the following without double tapping:

4x UAC10 - 33.60 heat for a 40 damage alpha, 2.5 second cooldown

4x AC10 - 8.96 heat for a 40 damage alpha, 2.9

4x LBX10 - 8 heat for 40 spread damage, 2.5

Would be nice if they did something with the clan AC. Maybe make them single shot cannons.

Better fix my UAC 5 x2 + UAC 10 x2 Heating issues, thats 2+2 and its smothered in ghost heating for double taps to the points its cripples a build designed to Dakka.

Seriously how do you guys mess up this much each time a patch comes, WoT and others dont flop as bad!

But the heat penalty is staying (for both UAC10s and 20s?)

Can't help but feel that's a mistake, being unable to double tap even once without dying in a fire.

There's a reason no one takes 2 UAC20s, and now 3-4 UAC10s. They're too hot because of the Ghost Heat
A value closer to 8 (to allow for a single Double Tap LOLpha) seems more appropriate, IMO

I wonder if the change is actually tweaking the Ghost Heat value... hmm...

If you're talking about the "tricky fix", I don't think that it would work as intended.

Well the original patch said "fixing the mechanic", but it looked like they changed the Ghost heat value and F**uped the mechanic. It seemed to me that the UAC10 w macro jammed less than 5% and they needed to compensate, but did not want to admit that they had another jam issue. They may have done the same with machine guns if they could not fix the macro issues for it (just nerfed damage). This is all all tin foil hat theory.

PS I do not know if these are exploits or not since they have never been discussed. I always thought these were part of the game based on what is allowed by PGI. Not my fault if they may or may not work properly. I have no real world proof.

Yes.. as per the patch notes.. the HS multiplier went from 1.0 to 15.0

There was nothing like this in patch notes, but please keep being clueless.

  • Patch notes said there will be a bugfix for not (always?) applying ghostheat on 4xUAC10s. (imho it was working as intended!)
  • Patch increased the ghostheat on UAC10s from 1 to (crazy) 15.
  • Hotfix is now changing how a doubletab is counted. Because the UAC10 is otherwise nerfed. It was counted for ghostheat the last 1,5 years or so. Never flagged as a bug afaik.

You're half-right, and completely rude.

It wasn't in the patch notes, it was in the second post from Paul on the first page of this very thread :

Yes.. as per the patch notes.. the HS multiplier went from 1.0 to 15.0 (which falls directly between the Clan UAC5 and UAC20). It was the KDK that brought this issue to light and now this higher value is bringing the double tap issue to the surface. We have repro'd it and is now on a bug list. I cannot tell you WHEN it's going to get patched into the game quite yet. Engineering needs more time to look into it.

May I suggest looking in a mirror and reading the whole thing because flinging insults like "clueless" around ?
Even more so when you tell the very guy responsible for the coding team that he's clueless ?

I knew that this community was really toxic and caustic, but geeeze, at least be well informed before bringing the truck of salt !

LOL ... Well excuse me!

A lead dev responsible for the balance isn't aware of what is written in the patch notes regarding balance, then comes to the topic and claims that something is in said patch notes, doesn't even bother to check if it really is in the patch notes ... What reaction do you expect from me?

Same way he tells us he was unaware of a somewhat important bug that existed in the game for like ... TWO YEARS.
Same way they never even tested the change they applied in this patch because otherwise it would have been obvious that something was wrong.

Do you even test your changes?? Do you even play your own game???

Unreal.

I am NOT sorry. And I am NOT even slightly rude yet.

I think by 'clueless' he referrs to the fact that this "doubletab = ghostheat" is part of the game for way over a year and was never called a bug. It was one of the reasons UAC20 never got very popular.
And increasing the gohstheat of a weapon by 15 times is no joke. For me it was clear that this will nerf the UAC10! But a lot of these discussions have been made a couple of times, you would have heard that if you been here for longer than 3 months.

Sometimes I got the feeling PGI could just ask some veterans and they would imediate tell them what needs some tweaking and what can stay as it is...

No they can't. Phone calls to the IslandTM are too expensive.

Point graciously taken, PhoenixFire55.

And I have an apology too : seems my mood is rather nasty today, and I'm too quick to call people rude.

Yes, you're right, this kind of thing should have been seen by the coding/dev team long before the patch went live ...

I tend to be lenient with F2P game devs simply because unlike other MMOs with monthly subscriptions they don't have a guaranteed income and are usually much smaller in terms of manpower and ressources, but they still should test any changes extensively and play their own games.

Oh well, once again I apologize for my outburst, and I hope this particular issue will be resolved "the right way".

You don't have to apologize to anyone.
FYI I *am* a rude person so all you did was state the truth.
Same thing I did, nothing more.

Looking into this.

Just remember, the only change made to the C-UAC10 is the amount of extra heat generated through HeatScale. That being said, if the double tap is now registering extra heat, that is a bug and will be fixed asap. It could have been the case all along, just that the C-UAC10 wasn't spiking heat like it is now. Either way... being actively investigated.

Was wondering why my dual uac10 hunchback-IIC is overheating so fast. Have to cahnge to a 1xuac20+ 1xuac10 to last longer. Please solve the problem

So quick to whine, and yet doesn't even read the thread properly first.

Actually there is very little reason to pick even 2 CUAC10s right now. My dual CUAC10 HBK-IIC overheated within seconds. Gonna have to wait for the patch to run it again.
