I have racing pedals... what should I use them for?

I just thought about the fact that I have a USB wheel controller for my PC. Obvoiusly I wouldn't be using the wheel to steer my mech, but I could make the pedals something functional, like "return torso to center" or like ... jump jets. I have buttons on my joystick for MW4 all pretty functional (I use the X52), but I think that would be kinda neat... Any ideas?

Not acceleration or anything, because I have a throttle on the joystick like I said.

AFTERTHOUGHT: Oh man, if I had rudder pedals I would totally do that for torso twist and lock the z-twist, but I don't.

Torso rotation? That's what I used the foot pedals for in the old Battletech Pods.

I always imagined that the foot pedals controlled the legs. Say there was one pedal per leg, and you'd push both forwards to go forwards, one forwards and one back to turn, or to the sides to sidestep or something.
Though that would need very expensive pedals, 2 axes a piece at least.
How about jumpjet controls?

I use the step (foot brake) part of my pedals, right foot jump, left foot flush...

I know in the earlier Classic BT novels the only time the foot pedals were mentioned was for jump jet use.

Honestly, if i HAD pedals (maybe buy some, if they´ll be useable in MWO) i´d use them for turning the chassis, use the throttle-shifter for acceleration/ deceleration, and the joystick in general for Torsomovement like turning/ Up/ down. maybe the cooliehead for additional aiming (if needed)..

2nd variant: pedals for jumpjets and "flight control", Racewheel for chassisturning, Joystick for Torsocontrol... would be a lot to handle, but give a nice mech-pilot feeling AND many buttons xD

3rd variant: getting rich and buying one of those "full cockpit" flight-simualtion thingies, but i think i´ll not be able to buy one of those in the next 4 years ...

Rudder pedals would be better:

I would use them for torso twist.

EDIT: I wonder how it would work for throttle and reverse-throttle (Steel Battalion style).

I use mine for leg movement - turning left and right. I figure I need fine control (joystick) more for aiming with the torso than I do for walking. I've yet to find an occasion when I needed finer control for walking than I did for aiming (but I know many people disagree)

It works for me. I know some people don't find it very natural and so prefer using the joystick for all movement and the pedals for torso rotation. I tried that for a bit but much prefer my current setup.

The ones I have come with software that can map keys to it, so you can just make "jump jets" like .... "J" and make one of the pedals assigned to "J", even if the game itself isn't directly compatible. The X52 is insanely flexible like that as well with software outside the game.

That's wrong. The pedals were turning the legs, not the torso (or at least, not by default). The joystick was.

New tournament mode - Mech races!

Bring your fastest light Mech and see if you can come away the winner!

Weapons disabled, but watch out for "obstacles" (land mines, pit traps, trip wires)!

I prefer to have my torso twist on the stick (z-axis). The acceleration would also be there or possibly a separate throttle control.
As for peddles. I would either use them for Jump Jets/MASC or Camera look (right left). Two functions I don't like having on the stick.

in the fluff of the tech books its said that the basic footpedals are used to steer the mech left or right and is the joystick for torso movement
