Its still the BEST assault mech BY FAR, and probably the best mech overall.
Speed of a heavy, armour and firepower of an assault. Can't get better than that.
Admittedly, the 4xUAC10 build is no longer workable.
Just use 2xUAC5, 2xUAC10, 2xERML if you want to get around the ghost heat.

Run the 400XL, stick with the uacs. 11 tons of ammo is enough to get a Deathstar even if you're not that discriminating when you pull the trigger and the speed tends to pay off like it always does with engine upgrades.

I face a K3 yesterday with build (or something very similar) in my Stalker. He ate my face in short order.
That said I have seen many K3’s on the battlefield in the last several day and they are still kicking butt and taking names.

Stress the didn't know about ghost heat mechanic since it's not well documented ingame.
You all jump on him, savoring the tears. A noob that didn't know any better and has 43 games under his belt, 29 of which are in an assault.
Maybe I'll start lobbying for a nerf to a strong IS mech, and then when it's nerfed I'll come make fun of you all.

To correct your post, you actually have 6 tons of ammo on that beast for each autocannon type (I counted 6 tons Uac 10 and 6 tons Uac 5.)

to be fair GH was working on 4 UAC10's it was 0.96, they changed it to +30 gh on fireing 4... so it was not a bug, they just changed the GH penalty for the UAC10s...

4 UAC10s deal the same damage at longer range than 2 UAC20s. 2 UAC20s will shut you down on an 80 damage double tap and now 4 UAC10s do the same thing. Seems pretty fair to me.

not saying its not fair, i just think they use the frase "fixed a bug" because it will make ppl less mad then "whe have *15 the GH penalty on UAC10's"... i mean the quad (ore even 5) UAC10 builds where nothing new, dires have run them for years..
ps; for me personaly i could not care less, i run my KDK-3 with 2 UAC10's and 2 5's from the get go...

I initially ran it that way too, until the flood of 4xUAC10 thread flooded through, which caused me to switch about a month in.
Man, it was AMAZING. 4xUAC10s can kill any mech in roughly 3 seconds. I thought I'd get heat problems, but the enemy is long dead before that. The only time I had heat problems was fighting 2 mechs, and then, I could coolshot and kill both of them in 6 seconds. I think the KDK-3 is the only mech that can fight 1v2 and come out on top.
With 2xUAC5, 2xUAC10, 2xERML, you still need some finesse, poking, peeking, dance with them a bit, etc. but with the 4xUAC10s, it was just wading in and killing anything in your crosshairs.
The insanity is gone, but man, was it crazy while it lasted

Switch to 2 Gauss 2 PPC build, and you will keep getting 1k dips even in Tier 0.
This build is also more range efficient.
