So, since the Mech colours are visible at a greater distance in game, I imagine that camouflage will have a slightly larger impact in game than it had before the patch. Given that assumption, I went ahead and jumped into Photoshop to do a little tinkering.

Here is my mock up. Four camouflage choices... arctic, temperate, hostile and parade. Each map is designated based on the environment, so the camouflage pattern and colours assigned to it are loaded when that map is selected. The parade camouflage has a percentage chance to be selected on any map. Voila... a viable way for us to spend Mech Credits! You are most welcome, PGI. My pleasure.

So, in the image above you have four camouflage patterns. The arctic one you might use colours as in the image... light blue, white and gray. The arctic pattern would be associated with Polar Highlands, Frozen City, etc. The Hostile pattern would be set up for HPG Manifold, Terra Therma, etc. You might use greys, blacks, or a dull colour like dark blue, purple, etc.

This essentially allows a player to choose the camouflage appropriate for the expected terrain, as well as colours to match to blend into it better. If they so choose to load up on the Parade Pattern, as well, they could go all out with a bright scheme. The Parade camouflage would override the assigned camouflage on a percentage basis, say 25%... for variety.

Personally, I have a few thousand Mech Credits that have been collecting dust for a few years now, and I'm looking for a way to spend them. PGI... I would spend Mech Credits on this if it were part of the game. Just sayin'...

Like Mazzyplz said, there is that Sean Lang vid, as well as a few others. Sader did one with some friends showing it off on an arctic map... you can make out the different colours at greater distances now... no longer just black. As to the patterns compliment, thanks... I like the subtle camo colours.

I support the idea. It seems like a great way to get people to buy more camo patterns / paints / decals..

..even if I wouldn't have any need or want for it, personally..

I think camo, colors and decals in this game are amazing. But that's an excellent point that camo will be more usefull now that mech visibility is improved. Didn't think of that, thanks.

Hes like the Red Baron. Paints his plane/mech red so the enemy doesn't notice and go after his piloting impaired team mates. Posted Image

That actually worked in a FP match. Here I am, huge Mauler practically glowing against the gunmetal color of the base's centerpiece.. 5ac5, melting people down.. and everyone just keeps focusing fire on much less obvious / dangerous mechs around me. I ended up almost breaking 1k on that single mech and I was above 90% when that wave ended.. (only 80 bullets left for 5 guns, though.)

I'd be all over this if we didn't get a giant red dorito over our heads. I wish all mechs could be targeted but didn't get a dorito till your crosshairs hovered over one. Or maybe the red doritos only showed up for everyone if you had BAP/CAP.

Usually the argument against map specific camo is that everyone would use the same camo depending on map. And now you propose the opposite. Interesting :)

I have always liked the idea.
Please Give us a default camo configuration, and then one for each map, or something like that.
Unlockable via MC. Sure.

Camo/Color save config per map/asset theme would be so much more practical and give a reason for people to buy camo.

I find camo pointless if it makes you stand out half the time.

True. With a few mechs, I went all white in case I got one of the snow/ice maps, as I know at least a fair amount of people probably have issues with the snow being exceedingly bright (especially on the planes in Polar Highlands,) so out of the maps I could try to blend with, white on white would probably be more camouflaged than trying to match some other map.

Then after several matches of HPG I go "yeah, that sounded like a good idea in my head.."

I did this when Polar Highlands came out, expecting to see it a bunch of times. Got a steady run of HPG Manifold and Canyon Network instead. I feel your pain.

What? We have that now? Then why am I still seeing just black Mechs in the distance? It can't be my color-calibrated monitor. Posted Image

As a light pilot I prefer my paint job be as bright and obnoxious as possible to encourage them to chase the squirrel. Long range sniper and ECM lights excluded of course.

I always supported an idea in closed beta when the map is being shown, you have the option of choosing saved camo options to fit the map type. People will buy multiple camo for a mech instead of a single one shot, changing colours every so often.

Saved mech loadouts
Saved drop loadouts
Saved camo loadouts.

Options options options.

I believe they call it sideways development and it really does add to the completion of the game.

If we can't pick our mechs or loadouts for the map we get put on, being able to at least have camo choices for each map would be nice. I'd vote for it.

Why not go that one step further and let us pick a single mech drop deck for each map? That way we can pre-plan and be prepared for all situations, instead of finding ourselves for example; on Polar Highlands in a bright red mech with a max weapons range of 270 metres(not that this has ever happened to me, I have seen it happen to others repeatedly).
