It's people like these that tempt me to just hit the bottle until I'm smashed as I PUG, since hardly anybody else seems to be taking anything seriously.

Well, it is the everything goes queue. What did you expect?

You will end up with one third of your team beeing LRM-Boats anyways. So why care? It will only make you angry. Let it go.

If you get ANY sort of communication, you're usually coming out ahead (not necessarily going to guarantee a win, but you have a slight advantage... sometimes).

Of course, if you give a grid, and noone goes to it, there's nothing one can do to herd the PUGs.

For me, PGI has seen to it themselves that my VOIP never works. No matter what I do, what options and settings I try, I cannot use a mic. Even with a new headset, no dice. so no talking for me. I listen real well and type quick though.

The fact that a whole lot of people can use PGI's implementation of VOIP just fine, probably still points to a Problem on your end . Just sayin'...

Good.

Let go. Cast down your selfimposed chains. Embrace enlightment.

Sorry I hear alot of excuses but it's based upon anecdotal evidence. In the years since the games founding I can count the number of "annoying" mic'd players on one hand. Again merely more anecdotal evidence.

However, I have consistently seen good leaders take control of the teams and guide our tactics to a win. Very rarely is there bickering and usually the worst thing that you encounter is the lone survivors getting a little too much guidance from the dead spirits watching over their shoulder.

The current chat screen and parameters are not conducive to coordination.

It's a team sport; you win through coordinated team action, the most expedient and concise form of communication is voice; and perhaps it's a generational thing. There is no introversion in, "I'm targeting Bravo" if so; get therapy or drop a pair.

While you "can" win when remaining totally silent; the annals of military history and tactics dictate you are working against your team by doing so. That doesn't mean you have to give an in depth play by play of every action (The key to good comms is brevity) but simple coordination.

I don't always speak; but I will acknowledge those that do and report what I see.

It makes a difference.
