Did I say, that this system isn't complete? Hmmm. I made mistake. This system has exactly the same 3 axes, my system has - Achievement, Immersion, Social. 4th axis in my system - is trivial one, cuz it simply represents preferred difficulty level. So, the system is simple:
1) Achievement: "Achiever" (routine) <-> "Killer" (dynamic game).
2) Immersion: "RPer" (player imagine content for himself) <-> "Explorer" (player consumes content, imagined by others)
3) Social: "Socializer" (other players are friends) <-> "Exile" (other players are enemies)
4) Difficulty: "Casual" (very easy) <-> "Hardcore" (very hard)

You too .. you are that kind of people we have to carry during every matchs.

Check out my KDR in a Jenner. I will post a video of a match I recorded today that solidly placed me up on the Jenner Board. Shooting mechs is like riding a bike.

These kind of posts make me laugh. I lost most of my sight by an IED in Iraq. I read it with no issues whatsoever.

You guys are not fooling anyone with the TLDR and my eyes hurt thing, In truth what your saying is you can only think in meme sized bites. Just post in the the meme threads then and your good.

Well a tire on a truck where I was a stationed.. exploded about a foot away from my face when I was putting air in it and filled my eyes with small pieces of steel from the steel belt.. so yes light words on dark backgrounds does give me headaches and yes it does make my vision blurry after a while of reading it.. focusing on the light letters strains my vision and when I look away I can still see bright spots like sun glare for a bit... sorry for your situation but it doesn't mean you know everything ;) My doctor would probably enjoy your theory though :)

Here's another thought for engaging Socializers and making FW more engaging. Granted, this is more of a fix for after the issue with Quick Play being more desirable than Faction Play is fixed.

For every cycle (in this case, a week), reward Faction Unit Commanders with sums of C-bills somewhere in the Millions. The specific amount would be determined by how much territory their faction (Steiner, Davion, Kurita, etc.) has under their control. Because more territory=more taxes from population. Why so much C-bills?

Because there would also be a per/cycle upkeep cost for a unit. Depending on the weight of the mechs and the gear equipped, the upkeep cost changes. Here's something extra: guild leaders are responsible for deciding how much of those C-bills go toward their pilots (their pay), how much goes toward upkeep (repairs, ammo, hangars), expansion (perhaps an actual base of sorts that can be expanded to give a unit perks?), and of course MERCENARIES.

Mercenaries would operate the same as the Factions with one difference. Their overall C-bill amount wouldn't be handed to them from the faction AI. Their C-bills would come from the player-controlled Faction Unit that hired them! Then the Mercenary commanders would have the same task of budgeting their C-bills.

Now for the other part.

Faction Warfare needs to have consequences. If you take damage in battle, your mech should need to be repaired. Ammo used in battle shouldn't magically refill, but have to be bought. Components and weapons that are destroyed should be GONE and have to be re-purchased. Mechs destroyed in battle would be returned as salvaged husks.

This would be the Credit Sink, to keep the economy from being flooded with C-bills.

But it would also require that players recieve much, much higher pay (millions at times) for their contracts and missions.

But this is what I mean by letting the players control more and giving a sense of immersion.

EDIT: Faction and Unit Leaders could get spreadsheet reports of their members stats to help figure out who deserves a raise and who might need to be fired.

Would be awesome to incorporate the MRBC rating system for Mercenaries as well.

What you seem to forget, is that MWO - isn't MMO. It's shooter, i.e. more niche project - it focuses on "Killers" mostly. Bad game design, such as terrible MM and balance, results in having too many "Griefers" in this game. While none of game developers would willingly cater to them, some incompetent game developers can tolerate them.

What I want to say - is that all games shouldn't turn into MMOs, cuz MMOs involve too many compromises, that cause dilution of game as the result. I understand, that may be I'm not "Killer", so this game doesn't actually suit me. But this game isn't suitable for "Killers" either. Cuz unbalanced game can suit "Griefers" only, i.e. players, who prefer stomping others via using holes in game mechanics.

It is true! PGI has failed to make engaging gameplay players want to invest their TIME in. Engaging gameplay is that which has many facets that any particular player can latch on to such as a feature or a dynamic present in the gameplay. For MMO's, even F2P ones, to be a success people need to be hooked to something that is present within gameplay to keep them coming back or not getting bored.

PGI has no clue, no skillset, no follow through on initial vision, and to much ego.

I commend you guys for throwing a lot of **** (a four letter word that means fecal matter) at the wall to see what sticks...these are fun ideas to talk about but frankly I think some are kinda silly and they'll make 10% of players happier while 90% will just not notice.

One thing I'm glad you touched on the "socializing" aspect of the game which is true..it needs work.

It's really annoying to me how the UI is so gimped and bad when it comes to keeping your friends lists, messaging your friends or unit, posting unit messages or announcements, adding people and finding people who aren't on your friends list (you just have to remember the exact pilot name)

We can't even do simple things like expand the chat to read all of the messages at the conclusion of a match so if somebody wanted to say something to you, it gets lost when someone disconnects. There's so many stupid little features in the communications department that this game lacks and it would make a HUGE HUUUUUGE difference in the amount of interaction we're having with other players within and also between matches.

I think you should be able to see a log of your most recent matches and who was in them and how they performed...or be able to click on people's names at the end of a match and the system would flag them and save it for you so that you can send them a message afterward like... "hey you did really well that game i noticed you aren't in a unit have you considered...." or "hey ******* you really ***** my mech with that really strange Hunchback build i've never seen before, care to share it?"

We should have simple *** things like a global chat...faction chat.... maybe region chat...a help CHAT [edit:section] for noobs to ask questions. I know there are some old farts out there who just love sitting on their asses telling people how to play rather than actually playing. I don't enjoy that, but we need people who like doing that kinda crap...thats how you build a community. And we ought not rely on the forums for those purposes... the devs know only a small % of players populations is on the boards.

And all this should be on a side window that you can easily pop out while you do other things in the mechlab or pilot skill tree system... NOT a clunky overlay that takes over everything else filling your screen with useless empty space except for the tiny chat window and friends list off to the side...until you X it out. So freaking annoying.

These small dumbo-fixes would improve overall player experience in the social/comms aspect by 1,000% and then once they FIX that glaring deficiency, by all means go ahead your solaris or private matchmaking ideas with placing bets or put in slots or poker or bingo or whatever else you want to do.

Go crazy.
But fix the obvious things first.

I go with the latter.

I don't pay for non-viable things not yesterday and not tomorrow ...

I did already check and spoke of your stats, previous month in your daily topic about your "amazing" screenshots ( ironic when your K/D and W/L was negative ... ) i don't even mention you in tier 5 also you fight with blinds nobrainers...
That why i know you are kind of people that others have to carry but i have to say you look like know what you are doing during a match isn't case of all people we have to carry...

Well i see your new light stats, you look like very proud of this fine, good but playing a light during a light even is like easy mode we will see at end of month how your KDR will evolve agaisnt only mediums, heavies and assaults mechs.. Hope and it's possible you will not go down..
Anyway cool this stupid event is over i can stop play no-skill streaks crow, usefull agaisnt 5 lights per game ^^ but so lame to play.

As conclusion great if you play a better... soon tier 4 and tier 3 Posted Image !!

Out of curiosity what are these 'round-tables' and how do they decide who gets invited, etc?

But that would defeat the purpose of MWO being a free-to-play online game. By its very mechanics it is a Massive Multiplayer Online game. It may not be a MMORPG, since there isn't much of a focus on in-character Roleplay, but it is definately an MMO.

With the free-to-play model, you absolutely have to get as broad a playerbase as possible, or your money dries up and you disappear. That means getting players invested in the game before you ever ask them for money. As in, you have to get them invested before increasing the grind to what is 'normal'.

The 25 match C-bill bonus attempts this, but fails. Because 25 matches is not anywhere near enough time for new players to figure the game out and decide if they like it. 25 matches isn't enough time to connect with the community within the game and get settled. I'm not saying it isn't a nice gesture, but 25 matches of bonus handout C-bills does not make a player invested.

Click-baitey title is click-baitey.

I intentionally resisted for 24 hours, out of boredom I clicked it.

10/10.

Would click again.

A massively multiplayer online game (MMOG or MMO) is an [online game] which is capable of supporting large numbers of players simultaneously in the same instance (or world).

The largest instance of players we can get simultaneously interacting with each other is 24.

So no, not a MMO.

Wow. You are quite the *******. He made some very good points. In fact, this is one of the best comparison write-ups I have read on the forums in a long while.

It is players like YOU that make this game grow annoying very fast.

I suggest you uninstall and save us your negativity.
