There is a whole chorus singing like you. Asking for things players don't want, never wanted and never dreamed of in games. This chorus is trying desperately to drown out legit players and doing a fairly good job of it.

Players want guilds. Not.
Players want item and lvl grinding. Not.
etc.

None of these things are in those promotional videos. None.

I do agree console gamers have had even less choice with their games. The console push is being backed up by armies of trolls and cheats on the internet on computer games even.

Don't get me wrong I like the PS 4. A lot. Maybe its competitors to if they handnt of got all trashy demanding online all the time.

If it wasn't for Play Station the entire game landscape would be a smoldering ruin if its competitors had their way. Play Stations competition left to rule consoles would have completely crushed PC gaming by now. Fact.

While I agree that PGI needs to get their act together (part of which can be accomplished by flushing the e-sports crap down the toilet), that doesn't mean it's time to turn everything on its *** now because players aren't happy with the game not being enough of a "mech sim."

I'm not seeing what this has to do with the game being a "mech sim" or not, so it seems like I'm either correct that players who clamor for a "mech sim" don't actually know what they want, or your problem is actually with something else.

What deviations from the "pillars of development" made this game into less of a "mech sim" anyways?

Pretty sure you should look elsewhere for that, since it's been clear for a long time now that's not what MWO is or was going to be.

As far as I can tell that's pretty much what HBS Battletech is going to be though, so maybe try that instead.

Youve been here long enough not to be able to pretend that this wasnt EXACTLY what we were told this game was going to be. Dont pretend otherwise.

It was on the description for the ******* game until when even THEY realized it wasnt that anymore and had to remove it from the web site

I don't understand otherbro's twisted panties with regards to Celestial filming both teams rolling over a hill together. It looks cool, he did it in the game. There's nothing falsified. Are you able to see that in-game? Yes. Is it likely that you will see it happen in the wild? Hell no. But that's hardly the point. If trailers looked like gameplay, 90% of games on the market would look like a chicken-without-a-head fustercluck while people yell obscenities in the background.

I'm sorry, I just can't wrap my head around the mental gymnastics you had to do in order to believe the notion that a player-made trailer, using a Commando as a camera, could be considered false advertising. Everything in that was created with the public client.

Is it likely to actually happen in the game theyre showing that it in? no.

It's possible within the confines of the game. Demonstrably not false advertising.

Celestial has made some of the best fan trailers on the internet, let alone being the best in the MWO community. I want to see your sterile trailer and then we'll do a side-by-side. My guess is that Celestial's is still better, even if it takes some creative liberties.

its even posted up by the official mwo account. Now, where would someone who knows nothing about the game (IE one who is looking for a new game, to whom this would be an advertisement FOR) see that this was fan made and not dev made?

Nowhere. Thats where. So the argument that its fan made is moot when its presented like its not.

PGI is lacking in experience. That's become my opinion after all these years. A lot of development was two steps forward and one step back. I think their lack of experience is part of why they don't step too far out of their comfort zone. If it were up to me, I would say they need to add more modes and focus on immersion elements.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bigger company use the IP. But not at the cost of all the people at PGI losing their jobs. If the day comes they feel they can no longer afford to keep developing them game, then I hope they choose wisely who they sell to. There are companies out there that are worse. That would make no honest attempt at game development and just try to milk the game for all its worth.

Ja ja.
You are all right. And wrong.
I want to see that they are able to stick to something.
I want to see them having real interest in their game and franchise.
As a minor example I have to mention the planet description on the fw map.
This principle is written all over the game.
Start something, but put no effort into completing it.
Do finish something that you started pgi. Just once.
There are so many loose ends lying around. Pick them up and finish your work.
I feel that they rather continue their band aid policy cos it is less effort.
