Great sticky, but F2P is VERY worrisome, hopefully we'll find out for sure that it's cosmetic only...

The promise of this game is drawing me back to computer gaming after a very long time. As with everything, I plan to make up my own mind about what is good and bad, without much concern about what others are griping about. This thread makes that a lot easier, and I appreciate it.

I, for one, would like to thank the developers for making the game.

Many people want another Mechwarrior 2. I know I do. But even that game had it's flaws. For one thing, even though it had a great single player campaign, it's multiplayer was limited to "instant action" pick-up games. However, one of the great things about Battletech (the source material for the series, for those who don't know) was the you got to play it with your friends!
That was the one thing, In my opinion, that was missing from the rest of the series; a sort of persistance that allowed one to really immersive themselves in the game.

In other words, I'm looking forward to it.

Good thread.

I hope the only thing thats going to cost us are things like Extra Mech Slots, Forming a Guild, stuffs like that and of course, vanity items (like more camo skins, extra spiffy UI options, (maybe include optional computer voices? etc).

Great pinned post. I'm just thankful that a reasonable Mechwarrior project has been green lit.

I'm thrilled this game is coming out, so are all my 'mech buddies. They ask me about MW5, now MWO, about once a month, so I think EA, Activision, etc. are going to be missing out on what will be a very popular game. MechWarrior is the one giant robot sim that actually works, still the best online pvp experience in many years and many games for me.

If we the fans of the franchise do our best to spread the word about this game and help the devs in any way we can to make this a top rated game, I would not be surprised if EA, Activision and the big companies would come running asking to be part of the development of future mech games.
I would have loved to see those big companies come crawling back on their knees begging for a piece of the cake. :)

I cant wait to see this game released, but by no means do I want the devs to rush it.
I would rather they take their time and make this a a game that can be counted among the very best of the best, rather than some half finished patchwork thing of a game.

The best part about them making it an online game rather than a single player campaign game with a multiplayer aspect, is that there are so much more potential for changes and improvement.
A single player game gets boring very fast, while an MMO game like this are constantly changing making it last much longer

I will admit that I have only played MW4 and not the others.. but I have been playing Battletech far longer than these games. Now do I like campaign games for single players yes I do when it comes to PC but this game isn't going to be like and for that I am ok with..I am looking forward to playing this game and meeting up with new people.

I'm just happy that there's some movement toward a new MW game.

I sympathize with the difficulties of publishing a game similar to the previous ones in the series. Honestly, while the setting and story for the BT and MW universe are phenomenal beyond belief, a MW video game boils down to approximately 5% of time spent in the single player campaign (2-3 playthroughs on average) and 95% of time spent online fighting with other actual MW pilots, in my experience. While I absolutely love playing through campaigns, you've got to be honest in realizing what the real demand actually is for the product in the vast majority of cases. And the demand is (in my opinion) for a quality system which will attract as many real opponents as possible.

To be honest, I am a little disappointed but I am really just happy to have a MechWarrior game again. And frankly, after hearing some of the news I am pretty excited for what they are trying to do with it as well.

I am glad that the Inner Sphere must once again lose contact with planet after planet and scramble around wondering what to do, how to win, who will save us! All this as the Clan juggernaut rolls across space absorbing one world after the next, each one adding to our might, each one learning the way of the Clans and the Hope that Kerensky's people bring to the people of the Star League. Tyrannts sitting on your thrones beware, we are the Clans, and we come for you!
