Hollander should be the next light because (with big quirks for huge ballistics) it could offer a playstyle that really hasn't been seen before in MWO -- that is, a light whose play revolves around one big gun

Only two variants at 3056. Then for a loooong time no additions. So, even if it can be well modelled and interesting overall chances are low. And how to fit 17 tons (GR + 2 tons of ammo) into 35t Mech without huge sacrifice of speed (try it on RVN-4X)? For Clans it can be done simpier (ADR-D fits that), but still.

Looks like they mostly just upscaled the Marauder. There isn't anything here that really screams 'Clans' to me.

Also...issues. the primary version is supposed to mount triple ERPPCs, so with Ghost Heat this thing is going to run the same problems the Awesome has.

And, well, I can understand there isn't original material when it comes to making hero mechs.

I can understand the need, from a game-content perspective to make an original variant if there isn't one available.

But there are only two configurations that don't require weapons (heavy lasers, HAG, etc) or technology (improved jump jets) that isn't in the game. So with the need to create four variants (base, hero, 2x reinforcement) you end up with a mech that is more PGI-original than lore-derived. I don't really have a problem with this except that if you are going to do it, why not go full bore and create a wholly new mech (Archer IIC perchance), or the Black Knight IIC or, well, you get the idea.

Finally. I'm not sure that another assault mech is what the Clans need. It's been almost a year (October, 2015) since we last saw a light mech. Maybe the Fire Falcon (Great Father forbids the Fire Moth), or the Locust IIC.

it doesn't have lower arm actuators.

All crits in the arms.

That's funny. Megamek says they fire from the torsos, with one crit in each torso. Weird, but that's what it says.

Spoiler

I guess it's back to waiting for the next IS mech.

35 ton spider would be the size of a firestarter, imo barely a light mech. But a new 20-25 tonner with jj is just right for the type of gameplay that I want. But any new IS light at this point would be nice.

No, the current lights are all light mechs, its just everything else is so oversized still. the Catapult is the only one properly sized.

May I draw your attention to the Orion IIC, who's additional variants were created by PGI. Technically, there is only one Orion IIC, and that is the Orion IIC.

If a weapon is mounted in two locations, it always gets the worst firing arc of the pair.

That means anything arm/ST fires in the torso arc.

So Clans get:

- The Kodiak
- The Huntsman
- The Viper
- The Night Gyr
- The Linebacker
- The Marauder IIc

And the IS gets:

- The Phoenix Hawk
- The Cyclops
- Lots of nerfs

Cool.

Actually

The IS gets:

- The Marauder
- The Warhammer
- The Rifleman
- The Archer
- The Phoenix Hawk
- The Cyclops

And Clans get:

- The Kodiak
- The Viper
- The Night Gyr
- The Huntsman
- The Linebacker
- The Marauder IIc

So thats 6 solo packs each side (excluding the IS Urbanmech).

I said this was likely and fair weeks ago and am not surprised at all Clans got another solo mech pack.

Next will be IS im sure.

Well I was annoyed by the choice of the MAD IIC but this makes sense.

Hopefully the IS gets something good.

Light mechs take the same amount of time and resources to create as any other mech, but it is a fairly common opinion that $20 for a light is a rip-off.

Hence, we are not going to see a $20 (or cheaper, since again it is the same cost for PGI) light pack unless it is extremely popular before any hint of, or in-spite of its in-game viability (a la urban mech.) It is just a needless risk compared to a heavy or an assault where people perceive the mech to be more valuable.

There is your answer, dreamers.

WTF

$20 is 2 hours minimum wage where I live and is a bargain compared to the older pricing methods that used to be in place.

If someone can not afford $20 for 3mechs and mechbays, including premium time ($12) and other schwag, they maybe need to be doing less gaming as well as get off my lawn.

might be the case in the good ol USA. Here in Mexico, the average worker might take home 200 pesos a day.... which is about 11 bucks, atm. And before you shoo us off your lawn...we probably are the people you hired to cut it. Just saying.

Not all of PGIs customers are in Trumplandia.

While his statement was a bit ignorant I believe you have some misconceptions about the US.

Talk about being an *******.

Hell I am partially disabled and live off of 20 hours a week minimum wage and find this stuff cheap (at least compared to my medical expenses)

What I am saying is if it is expensive it is not PGI's fault but that of your local economy.

(PS I am usually considered a low income bleeding heart in my country - you should meet the real jerks)

Here is where you are wrong.

I prefer 80-120$ for a big pack each 5 months... you know those packs that come with the special Cbill variant at no extra cost. Those that come with at least 4 premium faction camo patterns unlocked for 4 chassis... tons of colors... 4 variants per chassis in each of the 4 weight classes...

I don't want to pay 20$ a month to get useless noob green mechs that is gonna be available for Cbills (read: free) some time later...

I call that VALUE.. which the new packs lack.
