I do not read through all of the patch notes, but it feels as if the Arty rounds got reduced. What I can say from my observation, that they are now relatively useless and I will abandon them in the most Mechs I own.

If you want raw damage, pick Air Strike. If you want bigger AoE disruption with longer duration, pick Artillery Strike.

The whiners finally caused PGI to get weak-kneed and acquiesce.

I've always found artillery and air strikes to be almost utterly useless in this game. They do so little damage that it's pathetic. I can count on one hand how many times I've gotten a component destruction from dropping bombs/shells on a cluster of enemies. Only time I've ever gotten a kill by doing so is back in the day when they still had that bug where if a shell or bomb landed on you and you had less than like 4 head armor your head instantly exploded. I ultimately find them to be the least useful consumable there is and I only use them when they are given to me for free through some event.

No two patches ago they also nerfed air and artillery strikes. They took away the criticals from them, and they also made it so the random spread didn't hit the head box anymore. They also capped how much damage a single mech could take. Its still of course possible to kill mechs with them, you just have to wait for mechs with already exposed structure and hope the damage blows away the rest of it.

Correct, the artillery now has the capacity to feel pain. However without a heart it will never know love.. (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

This is the first thing I've seen tonight that managed to break my scowl and give me a laugh since PGI announced the bullcrap they are gonna pull with their Marauder IIC pack. Thanks man.

I hope you're not serious. Killing stuff is kinda what artillery is designed to do.

No longer causes Crits (Goose Waffles shout in joy, as rear armour can be fearlessly shredded)

Different damage application

Still useful, but, Airstrikes are generally better, slap them down on your side of cover and peg some sorry ******* hiding behind said cover while their components are cherry red, enjoy your kill that just paid for itself.

Artillery Strikes I have found always just not that good for doing damage, Area of Denial? Sure, but, raw damage is too spread out, hilariously enough? Our current Arty Strike consumable is what an actual Long Tom Cannon does, just let that sink in with regard to the "Long Tom Davy Crockett" In CW that should just be re-named Nuclear Arrow IV >_>. Okay little bitter there, still, anyways. Yes Arty Strike consumables are situational at best, mostly for getting cherry red components and making people move out of the zone you wish to deny.

Of course there is something more irritating: artillery that tickles even weaker than a feather duster.

I never wished it to be nerfed, more just implemented differently. So sick of "I can't deal with a single enemy lets place 50 strikes on them" instead of using it reasonably and tactically.

Yes, artillery now don't do crits.

Reason?
- People asked for nerfs to long tom
- PGI loved the long tom
- PGI got upset
- PGI tried to have their revenge by changing the artillery as well... because arty and long tom are TOTALLY related.
