And LRM boats will always vote on that map and you got no cover, i mean cmon!
We should decide which maps we want to play, and only then the vote would take place with the maps we want to play in.
Frozen City used to be a nice map also, now its just another longe range boring playground.

This is a team game. There are opportunities for short ranged mechs on every map if they just have some patience. But they usually don't. They just want to kick open the door to the bar, flip tables, pull out that six gun and start capping guys left and right. When I'm playing a ranged mech, I play at range and weaken the enemy, have them keeping their heads down while shorter ranged mechs close the distance. Likewise when I'm in a short ranged mech, I'll keep my head down while ranged mechs pressure the enemy and it's safer to move in. But what usually happens is short ranged mechs have no patience and get destroyed trying to push in when it's clearly not that right move at the time. This here is a player problem with ranged maps.
Another issue is spawned in the mechlab. If a mech has 6 energy hardpoints, players choose to boat 6 of the same lasers, rip off missiles, turn their mech into a 1 trick pony. They get smashed outside / under the builds effective zone...This here is also a player problem as mixed builds are taboo or something.
That aside, though I would prefer the voting system be done away with entirely, what you are suggesting is ludicrous. You want to vote about what we should vote for? Why not go next level? What about voting for what we should vote to vote for?

you cannot cover space and get personal 90% of the times.
and i agree with you, frozen city is almost like polar highlands now.

The other maps I like best and do particularly well on are Frozen City (old and new), Alpine Peaks and Grim Plexis. On all of these I have W/L of over 1.5 in PUG games so NO, I do not want to see any of them removed and I am quite pleased when they get voted in.
The map that I cannot seem to have a good game on is River City. That one could go away and I would not shed a tear.

The new Frozen City is a very good map. You can do ranged combat BUT there's a lot of covers and hills and you can close the enemy if you want. Usually I end up brawling on this map.
Polar Highlands is a LRM boat wet dream, much more "flat" than Frozen City.
I had good game in Domination mode, maybe because people need to get into the circle.
For some strange Murphy's MWO laws, if I have a LRM build the map chosen is usually HPG Manfold or Canyon Network, while if I have a brawlerish build (weapon ranges < 300mt) I usually end up in Polar...

I wish they'd bring back the god damn blacklist. I'd rather have higher wait times for matches than be forced to play modes / maps that I don't care for.

I've won ever match on polar that I used a small laser nova on. And I was aggressive, not patient too. I see no issue here.

There's nothing really wrong with the map, it works fine when all the players are good. It's just a brutal map for the pug life, sometimes. At Tier 1, I find it very entertaining more often than not. And no, I don't normally play LRM boats. And no, I don't consider LRM boats "b*tches", any more than laserboating Timber wolves, AC5 boating Widowmakers or UAC5 boating Maulers, for example.

Indeed, it sure does remind of that old maps. But you need to understand that in MW3 and MW4 weapons were different and assault mechs could hold their ground as assault mechs should do.

Because of lag shooting, Light Mechs ruled MW3. Assaults were the all powerful in MW4 though.

As a light mech you can strike from any direction and disappear right away, brawly builds on slower mechs can manouver really close to enemies without getting hit and long range builds will feel that they're in heaven.
You get problems with pugs when you're supposed to do something else to win than just running to closest enemy and smear your 78 damage alphastrike on their faces. That manifests on highlands when some of your team are slow/pure brawlers and suddenly people are all over the map and you start losing lone mechs.
My favourite match in highlands was when our team had 4x brawler atlas on it and we succeeded sneaking them on enemy team unnoticed. Or when our team was close to middle of the map and we noticed that no-one was really shooting at enemies because all of us got short range builds, so we hid in a gully and baited enemy to close in before we stomped them.
I know that maps where there aren't funnels to force fights always on same spots confuse some people, but at least I like them.

What tier and times/timezones do you usually play?
Also, if you are low tier, you see more lrms.
Ask yourself, 'what am i doing wrong to keep getting hit by lrms?' You are likely out of position, or a red is spotting you. if you mainly pilot lights, you should only really get lrm'd late match when you are really out numbered.
Polar has PLENTY of cover. Dont walk along ridge lines.

I bring my ECM / 3x AMS Kitfox with AMS Overload+Range and 2x ERLL. I was the pretty missiles explode mid-air if ever they do get to launch. Watching the LRM5 guys chain fire and have no damage done is quite amusing. :3

Yeah that makes perfect sense on paper... but it all comes down to when a light pass 400m from you all give you targets lock to all his allies - you got nowhere to cover, so you just get LRM to death. Add to that the fact that assaults do not sustain damage in this game, and the result is really boring and frustrating.
