Marauder Ii-C Preview Vs Is Marauder

That being said, I do view the notion that this will eclipse the IS 85 tonners a little off-base. The energy boats will run extremely hot, the A can have it's 3xballistic torso dropped fairly easily, and most the other variants have to deal with mixed weapons. I'm not saying the IIC is going to be bad by any means, it's just not going to be meta like the KDK.

Really? IS weapons have made all the difference in the past, and the BLR-2C still has gorilla arms and far superior tankiness.

But whoah, slow down there buddy. I'm not actually saying you should buy all of it now. I only picked up basic pack for the early adopter thing now, and will make final decisions about upgrading on the release day, once we see the mech in the game.
But I am quite honestly, very strongly convinced, that the variants you get in the reinforcement and the hero, will all be very, very good mechs. The ECM could be either a gauss sniper or a brawler, the other reinforcement mech is the only one with jump jets and a balistic on the RT, the hero can be a full on splat brawler with quad SRMs and ballistics, and the prime versions are primarily laser boats with the collector variant actually being decent this time as your choice for laser boating.
Not to mention it's all IIC tech with customisable engines, clan endo and ferro.. Marauder is good as it is, and this only improves on it's design, with no actual drawbacks that I would see.
So if you're eventually doing full purchase of this one, this might be the only mech that it's worthing doing it for. Not even the Kodiaks delivered anything spectacular besides the Spirit Bear, and KDK-1 collector is pretty trashy as well. So, again, the MAR-IIC:
1. Will be a very solid mech all around
2. Reinforcement gives you two unique mechs and different playstyles from the base 3
3. Hero is unique as well and will likely be a strong brawler
And the unique camos are pretty cool imho, if not one of the best ones but that is to personal taste.
With just the basic pack tough, you're mostly stuck to boring laser boating or some kind of dakka build on one of the variants. Nothing too exciting. But full package this time around actually could be a good deal for once.

But let me just make a hypothesis...
Running dual gauss in the high mounted torso might be a beast of a mech! Sure you loose out on XL engine... But poking your super high gun barrel bearly above a ridge might be a scary gun emplacement! (Especially if its backed up by Some type of lasers in the arms... Maybe some PPCs?)
If my wallet wasnt closed, I would buy this mech in a heart beat!

Uh... I'm not sure you'll be able to do dual torso gauss on this mech.
Oh.. actually, you can.. Interesting. So you could build a sword&board std build on this, with 2 large pulse in the arm? And you could fit in some JJ too!
Here's a quick mock up for possible double gauss I made with my pro™ mspaint skills:

We can move some ammo to CT, forgot to place it there.
We could also most certainly find space for additional jump jet in this build with addition of the glorious Clam tech FF (layout used for this was STK-M).

I really like the marauder chassis and I could not miss the Clan version.
Edit: it's a pity that they do not have Clan XL

Also, from the base variant the IIC-B comes with 340XL.

I will simply say that comparing the IIC to the orginal IS MAD is like comparing the Timberwolf to the Madcat III, there are simply too many differences. I had some extra spending money last month, so I managed the early adopter... so looking forward to hopping inside a triple shotgun 5 build...
