Kind of surprising that there's no mention of Information warfare / Infotech, but they did mention the new skill trees. In the last Town Hall, it sounded like Infotech was coming before Skill trees. I guess this also means that Information warfare is pushed to 2017, probably? How long has it been since we tested Infotech in PTS? About a year, I think. They basically made a feature 50% finished, and then left it untouched for a year. And mind you, Information Warfare was one of the Four Pillars for a game that was going to be released in 2013.

Anyway. Whatever.

I'm chuckling a lot all ready.

I'm on record here for really laying into P.G.I.

But they really it seems can't do anything right for people.

They add content they get yelled at for not fixing things, they fix things they get slated for not producing content.

No you wont be able to just que up for it like you do Quick Play, or even Faction Play.

The only way you will be able to access Stock Mode is if someone you know (maybe even you) creates a Private Match and is able to invite enough people to have a match.

Creating a Private Match requires Premium time though so whoever creates the Private Match will need to have active Premium Time.

Edit- Some custom settings in the Private Matches require 2 group leaders that have Active Premium time, so the Stock Mode may have the same requirements.

Edit 2- And you dont earn c-bill in Private Matches

No you won't, its a private match only thing.

Doesn't PGI realize if they just added a Command Chair post talking about the general goal of skill trees and a quick video featuring IK that everyone would love them again?

They don't have a clue about even this basic stuff. Jordan Weisman's crew appears to have at least watched a few videos of how other studios stir up excitement, and also seem to have a few devs on staff with some actual personality in front of the camera. I know not every small studio is going to have their own Eric Peterson, but PGI could really use one.

That said...there's nothing to really get excited over yet. Not even Disco Lando could fill up a Youtube segment with caffeinated exultings about inverse kinematics. "Look! It's feet match the terrain! Isn't this amazing??!! Random joke about Pokemon Go!!!"

PGI isn't really going to have something to talk about until the new gamemode gets close, or Solaris, or AI/PvE. Game is coasting until then.

Basically you can leave this game for 3 months, come back and not notice the difference.

New mechs does not equal new content.

Map revamp after map revamp. How about new maps?

After seeing what they did to Frozen City and Forest Colony, i'm not that excited for a revamped Terra Therma.

sure some things might be nice to have
I always would have liked having multiple drop decks in FP
too bad it's hemorrhaging players so badly
sure its written some improvements to FP, but if I'd had to guess its barely more than the bucket thing

guess it's nice, but not exactly like I couldn't have done it now while doing a private match, at least sort of, with quirks and mastering mechs left out
what happened to stock mech mondays?

last time something we tested something on the PTS they scrubbed it because it was so bad

some things got pushed back once more, or got a soon/when its ready
n some touch up here, some general unnamed fixes there

personally
missing completely new maps
at this point I'd rather them not update old maps any more, bring back the old ones into the rotation as well and do some actually new maps

no
but aside from giggles its not for PUG's
private matches are for training, tournaments, having fun dropping with and against friends
you don't earn C-Bills there either

No, I take that back. Stock Mode is the only new thing.


It has felt like maintenance mode ever since the original, broad quirk pass. At one point I thought PGI was entering a more rapid development phase where they were more open to the idea of changing equipment stats and doing it more frequently, but that came to a screeching halt once they shifted to a patch-per-month model which doesn't seem to be effecting better or larger changed than the old bi-weekly model.

I did buy a Marauder IIC, but what I really want are new guns, new maps, and more ambitious game play.

Meh..

No wonder why it took so long to compile those bunch of minor 8 man-hour tasks (in addition to usual mechpacks).
It would have being hard for me to make this look like a 3-month working plan rather then a 1-month.
Heh, they even included a Q4 section (Looking forward) to make the list longer. We likely won't see anything from this one in next 90tm days.

Reminds me my student years when I used those dirty tricks like big and multiple indents and needless bulleted lists for every paragraph so that my abstract meets a page-number requirement.
BTW, you can add glossary and a list of used materials for even more text!

Interested in what this means (to PGI anyway, I have a grasp of active / passive radar)?

i also agree about the Terra Therma revamp... Why not just some NEW maps?

Looks like they are going to make Crimson a little nicer looking, but then add the day/night shift pattern? Not a real fan of the time shift during play, Im old and it is hard on my eyes. Sure I can switch vision modes, but doesnt that negate the 'pretty it up' they did by making everything either green and black or black and white?

Stock mode? been asked for for a long time. Most of those that wanted were already doing it in one form or another. Yes PGI brings the ability to turn of quirks and skill trees. More like straight stock.

Energy drain, new assault mode, optimizations (altho there are a few in most patches), and skill trees pushed or announced to be beyond October... Much of this coming very late in the game.

Also adding things we already had? Inverse kinetics, favorite mechs and so on.

Its not that important to me personally, by I dont understand the griping about Inverse Kinetics, (i.e. seeing a mechs foot wrap over a terrain feature? seems that too many are admiring bambi and not shooting him) I mean, I am all for graphics but some of this is too much.

Unless I missed it, no mention of collisions / warping thru when there is one, little damage, no death from above (unless enemy mech is already severely damaged (next 1/2 pt of damage would kill anyway))

usually, I am a wait and see kinda player and generally agree with MOST changes or improvements that PGI makes. When I see something I dont agree with, I make my statement and move along. If I like I do the same. This road map seems to me to be too little too late. Many tied up in tourney, Many of them will leave because burnout and reasons.

Oh well, enough ramble. Thanx for things to come. Make it sooner. More Maps will cut way down of gripes and refresh the game, bunches...

I thought there was some sort of mention about being able to save mech loadouts in the last Town Hall, but it's not mentioned at all here.

Maybe a mistake on my or somebody else's part, but either way if it's not going to happen then I'm not surprised anyways.

EVERY month we are getting QoL issues fixed that people have been asking for, for years.. and all they can say is.. Why didn't you do it sooner.. Can't people be happy they are now in the game for once?


People have been doing nothing but complain about lack of polish for years.. and they spend a few months adding polish and people complain about that too..
