My take from the road map is that,
August, Sept and Oct will contain more mechs and small tweaks and quality of life adjustments (which should have been there in the first place)

And all the important stuff don't have an ETA.

Remember the items listed as not having patch dates yet may very well be inserted into Sept/Oct -does not mean they are post Oct for sure

Though admittedly I'm not too optimistic.

EVERY month we are getting QoL issues fixed that people have been asking for, for years.. and all they can say is.. Why didn't you do it sooner.. Can't people be happy they are now in the game for once?

People have been doing nothing but complain about lack of polish for years.. and they spend a few months adding polish and people complain about that too..

Stock mode is private match only..

The QoL stuff is nice, but I haven't played MWO in over a week. There is nothing in the road map that is exciting, that I am looking forward to seeing. All the good stuff has zero information and zero timetable. Maybe if the QoL stuff hadn't been so late to the party and we had some kind of inkling where the game is actually going people like me might be more inclined to stick it out and support the game. I don't even want to play it, let alone buy anything.

PGI burned through all my good will and forgiveness. I feel like they are putting bandaids on abrasions while ignoring bullet aounds. FW is a huge failure, a very small percent of the population plays it and that was supposed to be the crown jewel of MWO. Everything has been done half-asked and had to be redone later and tons of things have been ignored for years in favor of doing things the community hated like ghost heat, 3pv, and supply caches. So I think we have some valid grievances in that what we have is not anywhere near the vision of the game we were sold and we don't see a path forward because nobody at PGI will talk to us except in 144 characters or in a carefully controlled Q&A that is heavily moderated.

It feels like PGI has given up on doing any major projects that will move the game forward in a positive fashion. They keep saying things are great and good things are coming but that has been the line for years now and what we have now is really not that different than what we had in open beta. There is still no depth to the game.

You just hold on though, the answer to all these problems is only 90 days away, in the meantime buy a mech pack, please.

I hope they zoom the dumb minimap in closer to where it was.

I like that they're bringing back some sort of directional arrow.. but I'd rather have them on the friendlies so that people can see when they're backing up into my damn shoulder.. and also so people can see when one flank suddenly turns and faces another direction without alerting their team that they're firing at enemies under ECM.

Ha! Good one.

Restoring the status quo does not equal enthusiasm.

They don't have a clue about even this basic stuff. Jordan Weisman's crew appears to have at least watched a few videos of how other studios stir up excitement, and also seem to have a few devs on staff with some actual personality in front of the camera. I know not every small studio is going to have their own Eric Peterson, but PGI could really use one.

That said...there's nothing to really get excited over yet. Not even Disco Lando could fill up a Youtube segment with caffeinated exultings about inverse kinematics. "Look! It's feet match the terrain! Isn't this amazing??!! Random joke about Pokemon Go!!!"

PGI isn't really going to have something to talk about until the new gamemode gets close, or Solaris, or AI/PvE. Game is coasting until then.

They just need to have Alex make a drawing of a quad and have it lying on a desk or pinned to the wall. :)

Yeah... player enthusiasm... lol.

We got a road map full of only QoL tweaks (that were asked for years and could be done in a month), and more mechs.
While the actual important things are just vaporware.

I'm just waiting for this stupid tournament to end... then i'll be off for good.

The thing people who are blind to reality get wrong is why this game is still around despite all of its shortcomings.
The answer is not because the game is OK or doing fine.... its the fans!... BT fans do not treat this as just A game.
Its mechwarrior.
Its the player's love for the franchise that has kept this ship afloat.
True BT fans are the only ones that willingly accept being ripped off for a mechpack!
MWO survived all these years because players were milked based on nostalgia.
Now that the original BT fans are nearly gone... this ship is sinking...

Yeah... enthusiasm... have fun in your imaginary rainbow colored world.

So... Assault is waiting for a PTS within 60 to 90 days.

"Ghost Heat 2" is also waiting for a PTS within 60 to 90 days.

New "pilot tree" has not even been created (noone knows yet, not even our balance overlord at the moment)... soon™.

Let the salt begin.

3 New mechs 0 new maps nothing for faction warfare.

Basically no faction play fixes/updates that offer meaningful change for at least 4/5 months. Working the salt mines overtime.

it's to bad they can't add 'stock mode' as a quick play option people can vote on.

No thanks. That'd ruin quickplay. I didn't grind my mechs up just for it to be voted back down to single heatsink uselessness.

Worst joke ever! That road map has ZERO long term goals listed.

That road maps translation to me is this. Mech packs and minor fixes for the rest of the year so do not bother playing MWO till maybe 2017. Those town halls back in Feb had me fired up by June I was a bittervet.

See definition of backpedaling

Nah. Even if Paul quit or was fired, then replaced, we'd find something to break out the torches and pitchforks against the new guy in charge of balance the moment he starts messing with the balance of the game.

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up.

It really does boggle me at how easy it would be, an how little it would take to keep the nutter BT fans happy and buying, but nope; PGI goes out of its way to avoid the very IP that they pay to use in order to make this game. Mind blowing.

Do little things like: oh, provide mech descriptions. Seriously, why are there no descriptions of mechs in the game save for the new mech packs. How hard would it be to have a little link on each mech to the Sarna description or god forbid an in game window with that description. Or planetary descriptions. Yes, we have some, but many important ones are simply ignored. Or how about this: instead of quirks we had brand modifiers...keep the same damn quirks, whatever they may be, but include a little descriptor along the lines of say "mech X has superior structure due to its actuators being superior tough brand actuators, etc. All of these things are just text...text that exists on Sarna.org and would take next to no effort to incorporate. It would bring so much flavor and feel to the game and make a lot of us lore nerds really happy (and likely happy to spend gobs of cash in what is honestly a fairly monotonous game) but PGI just can't be bothered, even though they pay for access to this stuff!

Rather than actually use the IP that they pay to access, instead they put in goodie crate slot machines, and emphasize generic shooter style e-sports.

TLDR: Instead of taking advantage of the to MW and BT licenses that PGI pays a lot of money for to get folks excited about this game and what it is about, instead they go out of their way to avoid the lore and flavor of those universes all together. Then why bother with the licenses!?

I want so much to be a real fan of not just this game but of PGI and their development of "Mechwarrior Online A BattleTech Game" but they sure do make it hard.
