Which means PGI has not worked on it, has no concrete idea on how to rework it, and will not share what they will likely implement until they drop on us something the majority of the players will not like.

Oh well, such is PGI.

I am excited, they are soooo close on stock-mech matches.
If it isn't already in, we need those check boxes per side, and tech-tier filtering per side, and finally a match maker.
I don't even mind paying premium time to play, I just don't want the extra effort of coordinating a play time and managing teams.

They may have bigger and better announcements they're saving for mechcon and the tournament.

About what I expected. What happened in the round-table should have telegraphed to everyone that PGI was basically done messing with CW... they even announced it as such when CW3 was released, that it was the last "big thing."

I began playing MWO QP again, and I gotta admit the game is fun in measured doses. Taking off for several months, come back and grind intensely for a few weekends seems to keep it sort of fresh for me. I have, however, given up on the Dream of seeing MPBT-3025 style depth. Even HBS isn't interested in trying it, not that I blame them.. its clearly out of scope with their original vision.

Basically you can leave this game for 3 months, come back and not notice the difference.

New mechs does not equal new content.

Map revamp after map revamp. How about new maps?

After seeing what they did to Frozen City and Forest Colony, i'm not that excited for a revamped Terra Therma.

I like the new Frozen city but would have rather it been a new map in itself with only minor changes to the old FC. Forest Colony is good fun on scout mode and even conquest is pretty decent. It's just too many people funnel to the same darn spot for most other modes.

Personally I would rather they always keep the old version of maps (maybe low rotation) but a lot of people don't like TT heat/layout so it's rarely played anyways. This is an ok roadmap with things people have wanted for a long time so I'm happy it's hitting even if folks are gonna pout because they feel they were entitled to it previously. PGI could really benefit from sprinkling a little more into the map. Hell, I'd have been happy if they announced an entirely new map for variation.

!Generic complaining and bemoaning the hopes and dreams of my people, dashed upon the jagged, mech shaped, rocks of ineptitude and indifference!*

But seriously though, new therma sounds good to me. Stock mode too. Things continue to move forward, always more slowly than we would hope.

So is that the quality we should come to expect from patches then? "It's better than nothing"
I guess if I lower my bar I will be gleefully satisfied with every patch.

I think there was a few laughs at this. :)

"MechWarrior Online, its better than nothing" :)

or how about "MechWarrior Online, it could be worse." :)

So...just 3 more months of tweaking? Given PGI's record, 'tweaking' is just as likely to set the game quality back as shuffling forward. Nothing on new game mode and nothing to change faction play? I haven't touched MWO since March's Archer pack and boy how nothing has changed when I jumped in last night.

Anyway, MWO has until next May 2017 to get any money from me cause once HBS's game hits the shelf, I wouldn't care much for MWO as it stands right now. I suspect the only reason a large portion of the player base still hang around is because there's literally no other choice for Western mecha game out there. It's like someone handed PGI licence to make Warcraft 4 and they still can't find a way to make money of that.

I realise that most of you work at burger joints on minimum wage so don't really have much of an idea about how writing and testing software works:

It takes a long time!

They're not cooking a burger, they're writing highly complex software that has to work across a wide variety of crappy PCs, with a user base ranging from geniuses to idiots and hardcore to casual. They can't please everybody all at once all the time so please stop complaining about timelines because you're not waiting in a queue at a diner.

I did software and I can tell you it does NOT take as long as PGI has to implement whatever state MWO is at right now. More damning is the complete lack of direction, the back and forth and the utter failure of faction warfare after three phases and years in development. When the head of the company does not have a vision, long term goal or leadership, the prodding-about filters down to employees and then the product and the end result is there for all to see.

Russ doesn't haven't to be an amazing programmer but as the head of PGI, it's his sole duty to drive his company/product forward. Battletech is an amazing IP with legions of diehard fans to support it monetarily and you think MWO as is right now is the best a gaming company can come up with? You think this FPS arena COD brawler with mech skin is what HBS would have come up with had MWO not existed?

You only have to read dev blogs pre 2013 to realize how far short PGI/IGP has fallen from their own stated goals and how little of that dream is still being talked about because mech pack is all that's keeping the light on.

it's to bad they can't add 'stock mode' as a quick play option people can vote on.

This is my only niggle with the next three months.

If they can add Map voting because people cried that they couldn't pick a map they wanted to play on, AND make XP they should have either removed Voting and made maps random in Q.P, OR made a stock mode open play with XP.

I guess not enough cry babies had Tantrums about Stock mode.

New maps are pointless, people only vote for four, and a couple of others if those four aren't the choices.

Though admittedly I'm not too optimistic.

Couldn't get the Roadmap out on time twice, and then spent 10 mins putting things from previous roadmaps and old features redressed in this one.
You'd have to be more than optimistic.

Consumable barrier to mech directional data that was available without consumable.....Yea...

I don't see anything I disagree with on the roadmap, but it looks extremely thin for a 3 month development cycle in a studio with supposedly dozens of employees. For example, one map revamp in 3 months when they recently told us they hired 3 new map designers? Are those working on a bunch of new maps that they aren't telling about or what? The mantra about "it takes time" is not very convincing, I and many with me here have experience with software development and sure there are invisible workloads like debugging and optimization that you can't translate well to visible progress, but those are mainly in the phases where you code the foundation of your product, unless PGI is doing something major behind the scenes like an engine migration or something it's very hard to make that excuse this late in development.

3 mechpacks in the next 3 months.

i bet in the next 3 months we will get 3 new announced mech packs.

3 more mechpacks after that will be May 2017.

Look at it this way May 2017 is only 9 mechpacks away.

So are you guys saying I should start tapping into my year and a half of banked premium time? Lolololololololol

I guess the joke's on me...I barely have the motivation to log in for a few games every other week or so. Face it...the dream is over, fellas. I don't even know who the target demographic is anymore...

Always nice to see the inner workings of PGI up close and with lots of transparency. I was surprised Russ didnt just take a pic of the napkin, all of this was on, and just call it a day.
