Do People Actually Want Time Of Day On Maps?

Any map with time of day (caustic valley, forest colony, river city) seem to be really unpopular on map lotto. In general, people tend to pick mostly maps with best and constant visibility. At least that's how I have observed it.
Either I'm wrong in my observations, or PGI is being really stupid in making an effort to add a feature on maps that people hate and want to avoid.

some map do have very underwhelming difference though, especially snow maps. you hardly notice the difference apart from the sky color. they should make it so it glares real hard when the sun is up, but i've never seen real snow, so what do i know.

First is that it breaks immersion a bit. I mean, like, a planet with a 1 hour day-night cycle would be so wracked by storms any mech would topple over immediately (unless the air was really thin ofc). So that's a bit annoying.
Secondly is that it sometimes leads to annoying graphics issues. If the sun is setting the shadow cast by the horizon can sometimes flicker when you move, giving an odd strobe effect. Also immersion breaking.
I would have preferred dynamic time, but with the sun hardly moving.

I'll still vote for maps that start off before dawn.. I just won't fully engage the enemy until the sun rises and the FPS dips and then normalizes.
I also didn't like the rain, but I found out how to turn it off.. If only we could turn off TOD shifting.

Like Frozen City, right?
Never heard anybody dislike it except here on the Forums.
Honestly never even occurred to me that it has dynamic time of day, because it simply doesn't matter, it affects nothing there. You don't even notice it. Well at least I don't notice it, it's practically same visibility always. Since this topic was about visibility I don't see it as relevant example.
EDIT: also forgot that Viridian Bog has now dynamic time of day too. I think it's of minor importance though, since people hated Bog and visibility there even before it was changed.

The problem in reality is that it's overused and annoying. It's being sold as a "feature", but I'd rather have more "environmental effects" than strictly "day and night". It's so uninteresting that it lost value as more maps are getting it.
I feel like map development is being set back a decade because of this lunacy. This game could certainly do more with better maps and effects, but this is not how you go about it.

Same reason why I'd like to see variable team sizes, a lot of new flavour to games with little development effort.
I agree the sped-up cycle is silly. At least slow it down. But I'd still like to have those occasional sunrise/sunset games, they look pretty. Just had a sunrise game at Polar, and it's really startling and cool how much the landscape changes.
