I have never heard anyone say they like dynamic time of day on any map. I have heard plenty of people say they dislike, or even hate them. I myself hate them truly. I want to see things clearly, and even if there is some need for impairing visibility, I see no point of having it just vary randomly on any specific map, visibility should always be constant.

Any map with time of day (caustic valley, forest colony, river city) seem to be really unpopular on map lotto. In general, people tend to pick mostly maps with best and constant visibility. At least that's how I have observed it.

Either I'm wrong in my observations, or PGI is being really stupid in making an effort to add a feature on maps that people hate and want to avoid.

Yes, but not sped up in game. Map randomly picks time of day and match starts and time of day stays the same as what was picked.

Never heard anybody dislike it except here on the Forums.

I like it. It keeps the same old map from being too boring.

My vision is far from perfect, so I personally prefer maps that is not too visually obstructive, just so I can see what others can.

i actually like it. i can exploit night time for some really good recon runs. had a game in river city in my recon build shadow cat and boy was i able to keep the enemy team pinned with constant narc targets.

some map do have very underwhelming difference though, especially snow maps. you hardly notice the difference apart from the sky color. they should make it so it glares real hard when the sun is up, but i've never seen real snow, so what do i know.

I have two issues with the dynamic time of day.

First is that it breaks immersion a bit. I mean, like, a planet with a 1 hour day-night cycle would be so wracked by storms any mech would topple over immediately (unless the air was really thin ofc). So that's a bit annoying.

Secondly is that it sometimes leads to annoying graphics issues. If the sun is setting the shadow cast by the horizon can sometimes flicker when you move, giving an odd strobe effect. Also immersion breaking.

I would have preferred dynamic time, but with the sun hardly moving.

I hate the dynamic time of day.

I'll still vote for maps that start off before dawn.. I just won't fully engage the enemy until the sun rises and the FPS dips and then normalizes.

I also didn't like the rain, but I found out how to turn it off.. If only we could turn off TOD shifting.

Time of day is fine, but speeded up time is completely ridiculous and worse than not bothering at all.

Honestly never even occurred to me that it has dynamic time of day, because it simply doesn't matter, it affects nothing there. You don't even notice it. Well at least I don't notice it, it's practically same visibility always. Since this topic was about visibility I don't see it as relevant example.

EDIT: also forgot that Viridian Bog has now dynamic time of day too. I think it's of minor importance though, since people hated Bog and visibility there even before it was changed.

It's to make those two vision modes useful.

I like it. Why should people stick to attacks in daylight if they have night/heat vision. Makes the game more realistic Posted Image

Not a fan of dynamic. Whatever you start with in a match you should end with.

I think having Time of Day was a good idea in theory, because you want some semblance of randomness.

The problem in reality is that it's overused and annoying. It's being sold as a "feature", but I'd rather have more "environmental effects" than strictly "day and night". It's so uninteresting that it lost value as more maps are getting it.

I feel like map development is being set back a decade because of this lunacy. This game could certainly do more with better maps and effects, but this is not how you go about it.

Overall I like it. It's an easy way to add variety to gameplay, without need for extra maps.

Same reason why I'd like to see variable team sizes, a lot of new flavour to games with little development effort.

I agree the sped-up cycle is silly. At least slow it down. But I'd still like to have those occasional sunrise/sunset games, they look pretty. Just had a sunrise game at Polar, and it's really startling and cool how much the landscape changes.

As it has been mentioned before, they should pick a time of day at the beginning of the match, and then stick to it for the rest of the match. Dawn, dusk, day, or night, maybe add in some rain/storm. The whole day passing before you within 15 minutes is dumb.

Its nice. Better if it was in the Mechbay. Would make more sense to. Minor thing really. Dynamic time of day isn't really to great as the game is now, but is nice to add life to the maps.

The Mechbay is in a closed space w/o windows.

I like it. I am glad they are slowly adding it to more and more maps.
