Compensate by charging more for bigger mechs.

I think PGI could just release an extra variant or (maybe) two for lights.

Because the production costs (modeling, textures, everything) are the same no matter if its a light or an assault and sadly PGI don't want to absorb the cost to make lighter chassis more appealing to players who don't want to pay $20 for a light pack.

The nice part for PGI, is that because of the Phoenix Hawk, a lot of the required work is done for the Stinger, Wasp, Valkyrie and Crusader, as they all share a large number of assets with the Phoenix Hawk.

Clint or Dervish, please. Or do a Wasp/Stinger/Valkyrie bundle.

I think it will be the annihilator...

I mean, come on... who doesn't want a 100 ton death machine who can stare down a KDK-3 and live to tell the tale?

With a 240 max engine and belly button guns...lol. No.

PGI would likely make an exception and raise it to 300. Not saying I really want it though.

Yes. PGI could also add ECM. And MASC. And every other non-canon wish one may have.

On the other hand, PGI could just pick a Mech that is not slower than slow. There are a lot of alternatives. ;)

The 1G is great in TT, but yeah, in this game, I guess you're probably right, I don't know. I don't think the arm mounted guns would be too bad, but the stock builds wouldn't be winning any foot races. And sadly it's too late in the timeline to make it into HBS BT game, where it would wreck faces.

I've gotten to the point where I'm mostly rooting for IS mechs that fall into the 3025 timeline simply because it'd mean more variety in the HBS game. The only other mech I want despite that it wouldn't make it to the HBS game is the Bushwacker. Past that I don't care much.

O.K speaking as a purist player that would rather have a game where customising outside of stock is a really big expensive alteration and not this cheap rate insta change system.

Why do people have such issue with new variants.

When I started playing this there was one variant of the Atlas, the D now there are fourteen listed on sarna, not all of them were created before the licence went to Topps

So why are people so resistant to other variants being added to the canon

The same reason they were against the Mad Cat MK II. It doesn't fit their agenda. So any tiny thing they can make an issue of they will try to exploit it to push their wanted mechs ahead of the others they will pursue it. Just that simple. Not saying I don't do it, of course I do, but I'm open about it.

I'd say it's about not wanting to totally warp a mech & in particular obsolete actual/existing variants.

About the Annihilator, unless you totally changed everything about it it'd be pretty terrible in MWO.

You're not wrong but generally we'd just prefer a mech that's not a piece of junk gameplay wise.

I can't really get excited about the Mad Cat Mk II or any other high powered assault right now. Will have to wait and see how energy draw goes, but since it sounds like they are keen on ****** Gauss Rifles and PPCs, I'm pretty worried.

I am a huge fan of the Longbow. Like the Catapult does everything the Trebucket does but better, the Archer does everything the Catapult does but better, the Longbow does everything all those do but better.
