This game will never be an E-Sport. It's too long in the tooth, and isn't remotely entertaining to watch. Just look at the latest attempt at it. One round and the same map for every match...

Yup... I said a long time ago, E-sports is a pipe dream that is not suited to MWO....

I anticipate that it will be a light considering that we have not received one of those in a while.

I hope it will be the Flea, but that is for sentimental reasons.

The Bushwacker is out of the timeline.

Not really, it could easily be something up to 3055 provided weapons are all in game.

Except that other than the Clan mechs in that TRO, none of the mechs were built before 3053 and the game timeline is 3051.

It's 3052, and Russ said the game timeline is dead anyway.

I'm quite happy with that limit. Bundle together a pair of lights even.

Well really we're due for a new light, by the time we get it it'll have been 1 year since the last light was released. We're getting the Cyclops but it is true that assaults are the second least represented class.

As for a "Clan crusher" I don't want to ruin your dreams but the Annihilator wouldn't be that. If PGI were to bump up it's engine cap generously it'd be as fast as a Dwolf. It does have nice hard points... But they're low & it has that protruding head which will draw lots of fire... It's only real value is nostalgia.

Not to mention the that thing is a clan mech used exclusively by Wolf's Dragoons. It was never available to any other factions other than the clans.

Well, HBS could also include the SW-era downgrades of SL-Mechs from TRO:3025R and TRO:3039, which additionally means:

Mercury
Thorn
Mongoose
Hermes (I)
Hussar
Sentinel
Wyvern
Champion
Lancelot
Bombardier
Exterminator
Guillotine
Flashman
Thug
Crockett

Most of them served in tiny numbers, and some were utter failures (like the downgraded Exterminator), and some others did not survive the 4th SW. Furthermore, since HBS aims for that classic BT feel I doubt we see any of them, especially considering those downgrades were only introduced to make up for the unseens which is no longer an issue.

But technically they have their place in late 3rd SW lore. And there are some nice Mechs in that list, which I would like to play in MWO too: Thorn, Mongoose, Sentinel, Lancelot...

I am glad I am not the only one to like it!

It would be a good addition. It's base engine has a 200 rating, which means even with modest x1.2 engine cap it is very fast. With the usual x1.4 engine cap it would be too fast for MWO... So it has the speed. It also has 7 canonic variants, which means PGI only needs to invent the Hero Mech. And some of the variants are really good; the MON-76 e.g. has ECM and MASC...

Being a light command and control Mech, the Mongoose could even receive sensor quirks like the Cyclops. And that would be one mighty scout.

Woops - only saw the 3053.

3053 I believe but Russ stated that tech is more important though.

I'd say we are likely 3050-3057, as a way to prevent the IS getting the rest of the clan knockoff equipment...

PGI y u no sliding scale based on weight?

Because the production costs (modeling, textures, everything) are the same no matter if its a light or an assault and sadly PGI don't want to absorb the cost to make lighter chassis more appealing to players who don't want to pay $20 for a light pack.

Doesn't matter, they will release it if its base variant has all within tech equipment, and will make up variants as needed. This has been indicated and discussed extensively in the past several months.

Compensate by charging more for bigger mechs.
