Ignoring that tier you are in, how do you feel about the way the battles evolve? Are you the first to die or the last? How do you feel about your performances in those matches?
With that said, create an alt account just for testing. Do not purchase anything and drive the trial mechs for about 20 drops.
Just to reiterate the above, other than the tier listing, which you can hide in-game, how do you feel about how you play the game? That you started a thread indicates that tier 5 may be weighing on you, though if you are okay with how you represent yourself in combat, don't sweat it. But if it is bothering you then you need to look at changing your game play approach, and a few video recordings would be helpful.
First, mouse settings, move the game's mouse sensitivity to the far left, around 0.2 or so. That will help steady your mouse so the cross hairs do not move so quickly on the screen.
Two, stick with the main group, this is not a Rambo setting. Then try dropping with the same mech over several matches, or variants of that mech, because you need to get into a grove. And set some goals with damage being dealt. Even though you are the same person, each mech does play different. And that you consider staying in a match after your death mech zombie could indicate you are after quantity of matches instead of match quality.
Again though, if you really are okay with your quality of play, that you believe you are doing your best and with how you are representing yourself in your drops, then hide your tier level in game and keep playing, it is not a race to the top for everyone. Even though the current PSR is more of an experience level, that leveling does slow down for many.
