This has probably been raised before, but...

Where do people who pay for content sit in say, 2 years time when the servers are finally turned off? We've spent hundreds of hours and $ of real money and when PGI pulls the plug, all we have are memories and screenshots.

I'd recommend PGI do what people have been calling for since MWO's inception. Single Player. And specifically a random mission generator, and bot modes similar to MW3's efforts.

Add it to the store and put $40US on it, I don't care. But I'm sure I won't be the only one that'll have the shits on the day the screen goes black and we're forced back to replaying MW3/4 and Mech Commander when we could have more options with a minimal amount of work.

Ideally, Models are made public and a fan made creation can come and take over, with dedicated servers and no C&D orders

Single player works too, as long as they're modable
I would very much like to fix certain weapons, with the magic of NotePad

I can guarantee that when MWO closes its doors all assets will become the property of Microsoft and will never see the light of day again.

I think MWO still has some legs, ample even, to last a bit more than 2 years, if the devs continues to put effort into it.

In any case, when the time comes where there are writings on the wall, PGI can always sell MWO as a product complete with modding and server hosting tools. I bet there are thousands that are willing to pay for that and shape the game according to their own preferences with their own leagues and stuffs.

HBS takes over with Mitch at the helm and makes an outstanding Mechwarrior game!

I will still have my old videos and screenshots (and comics) to remember it by. Been a roller-coaster ride, but I stuck to it for this long, for better or for worse.

That too, many seem adamant to see PGI loses the IP and somehow think that another dev studio will simply sweep in and saves the day.

That's why you keep a back up copy of the data, extract the mechs and use them for personal projects only. I paid for the data and I'm keeping it.

Know what you do? You learn from the experience, and NEVER repeat the behaviors that burned you in this game.

I don't want PGI to lose its license for the IP, i just want them to do whats necessary to make things right.
I'm doubting anyone would touch this with a bargepole, and its unlikely we will ever see another MW title in our lifetimes.

If you're not prepared to see your hundreds of dollars no longer be of any use if/when the game shuts down then you're a chump who shouldn't have spent hundreds of dollars.

Except maybe HBS who are already working on a battletech game?

The best part of this game is the mech art, and that will live on in the proper Battletech game which is using the same mech models. The rest will not be a major loss to humanity.

Seriously...with the amount of cash that a half assed project raised...a serious AAA developer would be crazy not to milk this cash cow.

Especially if you consider if the game was really good, some people here would have possibly spent double on it...

Its possible that HBS would get the license and access to all of MWO assets, and potentially get it up and running so people could play but without further development as they are committed to their BT game.

So you couldn't care less about the effort you've expended in developing and grinding your stable?
Hours or money, it comes down to the same thing in the end.

Have you got any links to do this kind of thing, or is google my friend?

I just don't think the interest is there in such a niche product, otherwise the original reboot pitch would have gotten a bite as it was across multiple platforms and had greater potential for making money.

Dont they already have access to the art at least? I thought they were making the art in the btech game like the art here?
