Also, Big O isn't that bad, but then again, I like The Legend of Escaflowne and Aura Battler Dunbine. . .
What can I say? I have good taste

Some of you might like steampunk. I seriously doubt this, as I don't know too many fans of mecha and steampunk.... But for those of you confused, I will explain.
Remember those goth kids in high school? Sure. Everyone remembers the goth kids.
So... do you remember the OTHER goth kids? The pretty ones. The ones who bought all their clothes and accessories at Hot Topic. The ones who went overboard on the cute little skull jewelry. The ones that didn't look particularly unhappy. The ones that wore fishnet stockings without holes in them. The ones that wore Marylin Manson T-shirts one day, and Invader Zim shirts the next.
That's what steampunk is to SciFi. A prettier, less intelligent imitation.
Go watch Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. That movie is the epitome of steampunk.
Watch Big O, then compare it to Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Watch Samurai 7. Then wonder why anyone thought it would be a good idea to make a show about samurai fighting off a gundam attack with swords.
Watch Cassern, and wonder why a nuclear bomb needs a giant mechanical clock as its fuse.
Steampunk is ******* evil.
PS. the people who like steampunk are the same people who watch and enjoy Dr. Who episodes produced from the mid-90's onward. I really don't know how those two are related, other than an alien time machine being hidden inside a retro English police phone booth.
Is BlackFlag.
Some of you might like BlackFlag, I seriously doubt this, as I don't know too many fans of mecha and BackFlag.... But for those of you confused, I will explain.
Remember those racist kids in everywhere? Sure. Everybody remembers those morons.
So... do you remember the OTHER racist kids? The smelly ones. The ones who bought all their clothes and accessories at Walmart. The ones who went overboard on the "[ENTER COUNTRY/RACE NAME HERE] is normal." The ones that didn't look particularly kind. The ones that wore greasy white t-shirts with holes in them. The ones that wore cow dung covered T-shirts one day, and nothing the next.
That's what BlackFlag is to this forum. Smellier, less intelligent imitation.
Go watch the WBC, and compare it to this forum, and you'll know what I mean.
BlackFlag is ******* evil.
PS. BlackFlag is the same person who watch and enjoy Toddlers and Tiaras. I really don't know how those two are related, other than they are both horrible and can damage people nearly beyond repair.
PPS: Generalization is hazardous. Insults based on generalizations are on par with racism. Insults based on baseless generalization is on par with the KKK and Hitler.

While excellent and a decent example of how awesome steampunk can be, Girl Genius is technically gaslamp fantasy (they even coined the term) given its status on the "technobabble vs magitek" spectrum, although if you remove the Other it gets pretty close to fitting into Steampunk.
Steampunk is not trying to be sci-fi any more than sci-fi is trying to be fantasy. They are distinct genres. Sci-fi tends to be much more hopeful, for starters; even positive steampunk tends to have dark undercurrents, and a lot of darker "sci-fi" things (like Mass Effect) are actually closer to the Cosmic Horror genre, but set in space and the future.
A lot of people these days confuse setting and genre. A fantasy story is made not by the presence of castles or dragons, but by unlikely heroes banding together to face impossible odds with little more than their own heroic willpower; that's why books like "So You Want to be a Wizard" are fantasy, despite modern setting. Science-fiction is not defined by the existence of spacecraft or aliens, but positing an alternate, plausible world, usually with some point in mind; ""Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman" is science fiction despite its mostly mundane setting. Spaceships and such are usually a framing device when used. Steampunk is more a description of both setting and genre; "steam" is the setting, and "punk" the genre, with the former primarily serving as a framing device for the latter.

This has nothing to do with Steampunk, but I just find it funny how angry she got over her own dumbassery and feel it important to remind the world that diva-like behaviour doesn't always go down well.

Was looking for this before I, myself, posted it.
Start it from the begining, you'll enjoy the story if not the setting.
