Quirks For The Hellbringer?

The thing with the HBR is there is only one build you can do with it and expect it to be 'good' or meta. Laser vomit otherwise nothing.

Without Endo and Ferro this mech has to completely strip its arms to fit how many DHS as a SCR with the same 2xcLPL 3xcERML.


GHR has high mounts and Jumpjets and that has quirks.

ECM is not what it used to be, even skilled up it is still nerfed to the point that it doesn't really benefit anyone but the one mech which is quickly done away with because of UAVs and PPCs.


What I'd like to see on the HBR is quirks for other loadouts outside the laser vomit that everyone runs. 10% Ballistic cool down, Missile cool down, -15% jam chance. Maybe a light smattering of structure.


The EBJ is a much better pick because it has the Endo and FF.

Yeah UAC jam reduction quirk, and missile quirks would be awesome for the Hellbringer, to account for the lack of Endo/Ferro.

Timmy has been nerfed again and again, has negative quirks on its better loadouts, low arm mounts, massive CT, easily shootable bunny ears, very restrictive locked equipment, a massive engine you cannot change, and pilots like an assault. Gauss/Pepsi Timmies will also be hit in 2 days, Laser Vomit has been hit and will be hit again, Dakka suffers from low pod space and low open crits, Splat suffers from horrid mobility.

Timber Wolf used to be very good, but those days are long, long gone.

It's still rated 4th most powerful heavy behind the Night Gyr, Ebon Jag, and Warhammer, by the players, so don't expect quirks any time soon

Just wanted to mention cspl nerfs have cut out the knife-fighting HBR builds.

I have a warhammer and a hellbringer. any time I visit either of them in mech-lab it saddens me that the warhammer is flat out better than the hellbringer, given that the hellbringer was supposed to be based on warhammer designs. Why would the clans have designed a mech to be completely inferior to the original? I feel like this problem is caused by the fact that you can't change the armor, structure or engine on the HBR, making it far less versatile.

With that said, while the HBR was supposed to replace the warhammer, it seems like it's most noted for it's disgusting firepower, but also for it's sensors, electronics, and communications. If any quirks were to be implemented, it would be interesting to see some ECM and active probe related quirks.

That's just because its undergunned for its tonnage.

I would love to see at least endo unlocked so I have a reason/the tonnage for putting weapons into the arms. I hate this "put all weapons in the torso"-thing.

That's your endo and ferro, though. Put all weapons in the torsos, dump armor from arms, save weight about equal to using Endo, effectively forgo using the crit slots of the arms as endo/ferro tax.

Hellbringer is a good heavy even with its kneecapped tonnage. If anything, I would just add quirks to the left torsos without ECM to make them slightly less bad. Other than that? I wish it were one of the baseline performers. PGI thinks all mechs should be equally terrible, though, if their "balance" patterns indicate anything.

I would be happy with just an UAC jam chance reduction. My 2xUAC5/4 erML was destroyed by the jam % and duration nerfs that they made to control the dakka boats. It is pretty hard to compete when one or both of your UACs are jammed 25% of the time. And that is what my test showed. If I double tapped all my shots then one or both of the UACs were jammed 25-27% of the time in Testing Grounds. At that rate, I was better off using the UACs like ACs and not double tapping unless it was for a killing shot or I was peeking and could dive for cover. My match scores in the Mech dropped by approximately 50.

Maybe the fix for the UAC button being held down and not jamming and the Skill Tree nodes changing to reduced jam duration will help. That remains to be seen. However, many IS and Clan Mechs that cannot boat UACs have jam reduction quirks. The Hellbringer does not have the free tonnage to boat heavier ballistics so giving it a UAC jam reduction quirk would certainly not raise its power much. Energy builds would still be its best configuration.

You are probably right but the reason it is rated there are the energy builds it can carry. We are pretty much forced to ignore the ballistic and missile hard points.

Yes, it really bugs me that a 50 ton Hunchback IIC can carry the same mixed ballistic/laser builds as my 65 ton Hellbringer. Posted Image

i think the helby is my best mech right now. i cant explain it. it never feels op. it just has really good numbers. running a gauss, ecm, and 4 er medium lasers. i might change it over to heavy medium lasers on tuesday. you can run dual gauss + ecm but it costs most of your armor. but if you are good at running ninja its quite deadly.
