Yeah...IDK...maybe it's just been the direction, or lack thereof by PGI since the beginning of the year, but this "reward" is sitting less well with me than in previous years. In part because of the convoluted qualification requirements.

For me it's only the qualification requirements. I'd been waiting for those Summoner variants since Invasion wave 1, and I was on the verge of trying to qualify for them this time, but... it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. They're deliberately picking rewards based on who got the luxury Collector mech packs, which have terrible value compared to standard + reinforcement packs. Not rewarding based on how much money you've spent, but how many luxury packs with poor value you've purchased.

And now people are going out and upgrading to these Collector packs, sometimes effectively paying $40 for a single Stalker variant. A single mech.

Oh well.

In order to get the Clan top tier reward, I need to spend 60 dollars. There isn't much of a way around it really.

Either I get the Huntsman collector's pack (20 dollars; as I already have the Huntsman) + a collector version of one other Clan single package (the other 40)...

Or I go over to Invasion III, and upgrade from Shadow Cat all the way to Executioner (60 dollars).

Either way I get six unique variants (not including reward) for 60 dollars and two 30% cbill earning variants.
In the collector packs from what I understand I'll have a second copy of the two chassis in question; the standard and collector (S) versions to bring the total mechs up to 8. In the Invasion I won't get the extra 'standard' versions of regular chassis.

The question therefore, is what are the recommendations of what to get in order to qualify?
(Origins would bring me up to 80, which is unattainable at the moment).

Dem feels...

I dropped 40 on upgrading the llC pack.
I now own 3 Onions and 3 hoverlanders. Yay.

Hoverlander isn't as bad as I thought. Handles kinda like a Warhawk that can twist some damage and can...hover.
Haven't touched the Onions yet.

All for those Summoner pods. I'm sure they will be glorious though.

I actually really enjoy the IIC Onions. They're some of my favourite mechs.

Dat tonnage, dose unlocked engines, all teh gunz, not like those pansy Timberwolves. Though come Night Gyr, well, not sure how much I'll still use them.

The Hoverlander... It makes me sad. Not because it's terrible, as it's not terrible, but rather because I desperately love Highlanders, but HoverJets are just so depressing to use. The Highlander, spending MANY tons on JJ's, should be able to actually jet about in an entertaining manner... But... no. It's actively depressing to hit that jump button.

(I use foot pedals for my jump jets)

*hidden behind a building, as seismic shows my foe walking past, unaware, looking for me*
HIT IT!
*Stomps foot down on pedal*
...
...
Half a jet gauge later, my Hoverlander is slowly creeping upwards
...
...
At about 1m off the ground, my Hoverlander runs out of fuel and thunks back down.
My foe, who's had plenty of time to walk around the building, mosey on up behind me, then go make a sandwich while chuckling away, then rear cores me.

Sadness ensues.

... But yeah, I'm actually really looking forward to the Summoner pods. I bought Summoners back when Clan Wave 1 was first offered for sale, but actually refunded just the summoners the day Clans first went to the PTS, and haven't looked back since. But I *like* Summoners, and I'm hoping a few extra hardpoints allows me to make at least non-terrible builds.

I have a hoverlander I got with cbills. I love it; but then again I loved the Highlanders and the nerfs didn't affect how I play since I don't really jump. Though it would be nice to be able to jump.
I imagine I'd do good with Orion IICs, too, considering how well I do with your garden variety onions.

I looked at the hardpoint list... Most of the Loyalty Summoner limbs are coming with single hardpoints... So two Summoners. One's an exact replica of two we already have... and one has an extra hardpoint on places we usually wouldn't carry them.

I'll take a couple torso energy hardpoints over nothing any day. Basically, any way to get more hardpoints will help (even if it is, IMHO, the least interesting Summoner Fixing Solution)

Oh well.

Top tier big packs would work, too... if you didn't already have them.
That's kind of the issue, if you didn't already have them. And for Clans, that means spending 120 minimum if you don't do the collector packs. Well there's the Origins IIC -- which I think is more of a value than most might -- and that is 80 dollars... So 80's the minimum line for the top tier rewards (but that is 60 above the minimum you need to spend to get 'welp, bought a pack').

I do wish I could get the reward for having, say, three or four clan 'standard' preorders instead of having to go for the cheapshit Collector crap. Paintjobs are nice, but without the unique geometry it isn't really worth it to 'collect' it. Not to mention it is more expensive than the heromech. Why?!

Heh. Least we know they will be high mounted energy hardpoints. Might make for an interesting dynamic.

I actually didn't know that, but hoped it would be so.

Remember PGI and laziness go hand in hand.

Where are the side torso ballistic hardpoints on the Summoner?
...Up high.
Thus... where will the side torso energy hardpoints be, if there are no side torso ballistic hardpoints?
....where the old side torso ballistic hardpoints would have been. :P

PGI is extremely predictable, trust me, they'll be in exactly the same spot because there are no other hardpoint considerations to consider and thus, no reason to move them.

Yes, your logic here is utterly irrefutable :) To be honest, I didn't spend much time thinking about it, as I already qualified for the SMN's. Would have considered more if I were thinking of buying more specifically to qualify though.

Hey, im kinda optimistic for those damn'd hardpoints. Likely the best ST E hardpoints of all clan mechs that can jump AND those agility quirks.

With ED on the horizon, a jumpsnipe Summoner may be very powerful in its niche. A bit under gunned but quirked for cooldown, heat, and velocity.

It may be like the Ice Ferret and Mr. MurderGargles, very niche but king of that niche. Ill take that. Hell, i can sell one of the variants for what? @8mil Cbills?

Do i feel used for coughing up $40 for it? Kinda.

Yeah, there's not really any debate that this whole thing is pretty low :(

Well i love the EXE, so maybe i'm bias'd But i'd love that with a bonus, and i think i'm getting that pack just for that mech. (and clan rewards) extra paint/camo is nice too

Guess it all comes down to if you really want the other clan mech.

So to conclude what I did...

Upgraded Archer and Marauder to collection status. Bought Kodiak collector. And a bit later I'll upgrade Huntsman to collector.

I feel dirty.

I agree. My only solace is having all the loyalty rewards.

I got screwed out of the loyalty Executioner and loyalty cicada last time because I didn't know what the requirements were (to be honest I barely even knew the program was happening).

These don't sound "that" good, but new toys are still new toys.

I do already wish I went with the Ebon Jaguar and Executioner upgrade though.

About the size of it.
It really does feel like a whale challenge.

To do it on hard mode, get Invasion 1. Gotta do the full 240 for it to count..

I had already qualified for everything but the two upper tier packs.

I actually bought the Resistance II Mauler pack. I know...OMG!! you spent $80 on this terrible game that PGI is milking us with.
Yes...Yes. I did. Posted Image
12 mechs for $80 was fine for me. I also got the faction packs with all the fun colors to play with Posted Image
That got me the IS upper tier

For the Clan upper tier.
I already had the Huntsman, Lineback, and Marauder IIC....I paid the $40 to upgrade the first two to collector.

Then I got the Cyclops $20 pack...OH MAN....is that a fun mechPosted Image ...should have just upped it and something else to collector.

Anyway...I'm psyched about my first Loyalty Year....I'm sure I'll be dark and jaded for the next one but for now? Can't wait...Posted Image
