Topic was about "nerd outrage", which, I would guess, is by definition against the Devs. Your turn to "try again".
MWO forums also were way more friendly back in Cloesd Beta days before it became obvious that PGI 1)has no idea what they are doing an 2) doesn't give a **** about their customers' opinion.

It's a fallacy to say the BT fans are such a bitter community. They are loyal and constructive if you treat them right. PGI didn't, and they got what they deserved. Every bit of negative publicity MWO resulted from their abysmal handling of their own game and their customers, not from a "toxic community".

it's not a fallacy, and I was replying to you, not the topic in general. You are just justifying the vulgarity that is almost completely unnecessary. I guess it was justified for Roadbeer to tell Russ to F-off on his twitter right?

It's called comparative-analysis, and I am sorry you're gonna be sour at people who point out different perspectives. So no I won, and they need to try again.

All people like you do is PGI this and PGI that. PGI,PGI,PGI. Some of use are saying yea, when it calls for it, say PGI, but their might be more to it than that.

Also the fact that some people get personal hurt if you critizise their post, and then it becomes player to player hostility. Which in your world should not happen.

Take the people who have me on their ignore list. Because I dared to either disagree and critizise their post, they want to revert to childish remarks and trolling, rather than make structured arguments, and use clear evidence to support themselves.

but you know, It's PGI.....SO

The toxicity of this community is a myth created by old gamers who have very limited experience with other gaming communities or perhaps even online communities in general.

Semi true.
This community goes through phases. Anyone who says the community was not toxic in 2013 is eating paint chips. (Whether it was justified or not, is a different subject). Just because it wasn't the most toxic ever, doesn't make it "non toxic". You know, breathing asbestos, and drinking out of lead cups won't kill you as fast as playing in a nuclear waste dump... but both are toxic.

Right now, I wouldn't call it toxic here, but I would say the general atmosphere has become negative again. 2015, they managed to overall improve the forum perspective (black knights were still black knights, of course) but it's gone consistently back to negative ever since Christmas Break. What's astounding is that it hasn't gone full toxic again..... with Russ's bulletin board tweets and Town Hall statements, in 2013/14 that would have led to full forum dumpster fire.

Now? I think the few post apocalyptic survivors still standing are just too tired and jaded to really care. I mean, yes, you have a few certain notable whiners, but most of us put those folk on Ignore, long ago.

But I think there just aren't enough people left who actually give a damn, for it to get toxic again.

Hah, yeah, it's pretty funny! In MWO the worst thing that can ever happen ingame is when someone says GG...

... when it wasn't even a close match! HOW DARE THEY!?

Let's be honest here though, the toxicity of this community would be exponentially worse if the chat system in game was worth a ****. There is no way to follow a failure of a player to harass him/her due to the way the chat system is set up.

Back when I played MechAssault we had global chat where you could talk to the other team while you stomped them.

Not really, it was about how after seeing the rage their, it made me rethink how negative people are here.. These boards are pretty timid in comparison and maybe people are not all that angry afterall. Seeing this is basically the only board i've followed for the last 3 years, i guess i forgot how crazy nerd rage can be. Besides i've never even played the game.. But seeing how things are always compared to other FTP games, even threads about what game are you playing now that is not MWO that hit many pages and never get locked, and of course HBS, i am not sure talking about features in that game is some how against CoC

"to bad this game wasn't like that though, Run your own server, add mods, ect." <<<<<<---- A feature from Arc I would love!

You will find that most of the players are the following

1) Over the age of normal 20-30 year old gamers so they have a mentality of hey its just a game.
2) Old time board gamers that have played this game from 1986 when it was first made so have a major respect for the game.
3) Not 12 year olds or younger that only live off ding dongs that yell and curse at the screen if they die (it happens but not much)
4) Dont live in their Moms basement
5) Been playing video games longer than most of the World of tanks or COD players were born
6) Are ADULTS..
7) Have real jobs and work or manage people

Enough said

Oldbob10025

You could of simplified that and just said... MWO players are Older than "pong" Posted Image

It used to be like that all the time until you finally realize you're wasting your time. I think PGI has a god complex that is the best way I can describe it.

Anyone catch the nerd rage about Arc: survival Evolved? The 20 dollar game with a 20 dollar DLC? I was having such a chuckle about it..

To bad this game wasn't like that though,, run your own server, add mods.. ect.. I think most people here would give their left *&^# for all that for 40 bucks. Game looks darn good too, if i had the time i might have to give it a shot on a private server..

But they made this community seam so tame in our outrage.. Are we slipping? Posted Image

Except you're totally missing the point of the rage about the Ark expansion. People are angry because instead of fixing and adding long awaited features in the base game they're releasing paid DLC for a game that's still in beta. And on top of that the DLC is more polished than the base game that still runs like *** at times.

this post is so ironic that the poster can't see it.

Some posters around here think to highly of their own intelligence.

When people around here stop making Illogical statements, and arguments, I might start to think less of PGI.

On the other hand ... I've never seen elsewhere White Knights as relentlessly one-eyed as the ones we have on the MWO Forums, either.

The way they will always jump in to defend PGI's behavior - even on those matters where a reasonable person would reasonably conclude that PGI is genuinely in the wrong - is quite amazing.

Their numbers are dwindling, of course. But then, so too are the numbers of people at the other end of the spectrum, who are relentlessly and sometimes unreasonably critical.

Overall it feels like there are fewer and fewer people in the forums overall.

Can you actually name me any "white knights around here" and actually give me examples that properly demonstrate why they are white knights.

Or are you using an arbitrary definition? because I get called a white knight despite the fact that I will in the same post make ample criticisms when needed, and still got called a white knight before. maybe people should provide logical evidence for their claims, and not call someone a white knight because they are challenged to actually defend their claim.

Anybody who calls another person a white knight in my experience seems to fail at actually providing demonstrable evidence to any claim they make. When they are out of options they resort to name calling. So it turns into an AD-Hominem fallacy on them. To say "you're a white knight and therefore" is illogical. I will agree with you and to say to someone that you're a black knight therefore, are equally bad.

Go look at the ED topics. A ton of individuals can't help but make illogical arguments, then it's the fault of the other guy because he can't agree to a flawed demonstration.

Not really.. cause i know what early access means.. A game under development,, And i don't care how they release things during that time. You make a choice.. just look at don't starve.. that game was in early access, and people loved it, the game finally got released, and people loved it more, then they gave early access for MP play, and you had to pay for it through early access and people complained, even though they could get it for free when it launched. now 4+ years later you can buy the whole game for like 7 bucks on sale.

I've been gaming since pong.. I make choices.. and most of the time my choice is buying a game that is 5+ years old because i know exactly what i am getting, and know what the mod community is like.. You buy early, or pre-order, or get a game that has only been in development, for a few years that needs 5-8 to really shine.. That is all on you.

Like me and this game, I waited for the game to leave open beta, i tried it and it was worth me spending some money on, and i've enjoyed it every step of the way.. Others not so much. But i also knew that the game i wanted was years off, and i have patients.. Still waiting for the Starcraft II bundle.. i think this winter will finally be the year.. Only been waiting 18 years for it,.. Gal civ III.. which needs a few more years to get to my liking. It is all about making informed choices..

The main reason why i didn't grab Arc, was it is in early access, and i researched the bug situation, and my systems specs, and decided it was not the right time.

Besides, it is often easier to use everything you learned making one area, then starting fresh making a much better version.. reusing and tweaking some code, as much of the new area is reusing things, and making fresh art assets, and animations and such.. so a completely different group of people than are the ones that are fixing engine bugs. Not to mention it is a highly ambitious sandbox game, and those things take years to iron out the quirks.. the game has only been out a year. I just think people put expectations way to high on new games. they are so used to playing classics, that took 5+ years and then communities years to make them even better, they often forget how terrible many where at launch, and how riddled with bugs they were more often than not, because they never played them in that state.

Can I ? Yes.

Will I? No.

I established a few weeks ago over the course of several pages of tortuous discussion that you live in an alternative reality where facts, argumentation and alternative points of view are subjected to fallacious logic, straw-manning and other debating sleights of hand until a moderator eventually steps in to mercy kill the thread.

So, no, I decline your invitation to squander more of my leisure hours providing to you evidence of things that you could already see, like the rest of us, if only you chose to see.
