Arctic Cheetah, Locust, nothing will be much better. Bushwacker is one of those famous lore mechs, but then I think of the Summoner.

Bushwacker will always be my first choice for shooting at seagulls on the beach, but not so much for MWO.

Would be my first choice to paint tiger teeth on it.

Not really excited.

Here's a scientific representation of what the current problem is. I'll buy anything that addresses this (or is a Crusader).

Edit: I'd understand this if there were no options, but the 20+40 ton weight brackets are flooded with iconic 'mechs.

If the side torso MGs are mounted decently high, I guess you could make a 2 UAC/5 ridge poker with 2 ML for backup. Don't say Shadow Hawk, because the Shad has to use a STD engine for that (which isn't that great for a medium mech due to limited tonnage). The Shad is also cursed to never have good quirks because it used to be sorta-meta a few years ago.
That's really about it.

I don't know. With its shape, it feels like it's never going to be a good brawler. 2UAC5 doesn't seem like it's going to be powerful enough to be a great ridge poker, and it won't have any good quirks, because none of the new mechs do.

Maybe it can do gauss + ERPPC reasonably well? I don't know.

IIRC, lasers are CT which means no PPCs. Actually, I don't remember exactly where everything is located on the Bushi...

Pffft. All this talk about "optimal" builds. Where's your sense of adventure, man? Run stock builds!

Locust IIC and maybe the Fire Falcon would be "good" as far as lights go (but still obsolete to heavier gundams like all lights).

X2 Variant

Those are the two variants with MWO's current tech.

Alright, so I was right, only CT energy.

Too bad it isn't 60 tons or so, could make for an interesting 3 AC5 build, but at 55 tons, it just doesn't have enough tonnage (3 AC5, 255 XL, only 5 tons of ammo). Could potentially be on par with the CN9-AH in the brawling department, but doubtful it will be much more there. Could be the lightest dual AC10 mech though and one of the more viable builds on it.

You are perhaps forgetting the BSW-S2:

That makes three full canon variants possible with MWO-level tech.
... but PGI will for sure add a non-canon hero and a non-canon reinforcement pack. Posted Image

Edit: meant the -S2, not the L1...

If only there were alternate versions of some Autocannons that were lighter in weight than the 3025 versions. If only...

Light Fusion Engine invalidates that variant.

Light AC5s kinda invalidate the AC10 though.

Already corrected it, meant the S2. Possible in MWO.

I'd have more hope for MWO if they actually released NEW GUNS or NEW EQUIPMENT on the Bushwacker...

But I know PGI won't do that because they're lazy.
