I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this made no small part of why a Bushwacker was tanky.

In all honesty, I'm MORE than happy to throw my mouldy, nostalgic banana-leaves at PGI. Yes, I can say it ISN'T the Mechwarrior I want, because I'm a single-player purist who only wants PvE AI botstomping (because I'm introverted that way); BUT I'm more than willing to throw them peanuts in the hopes of said goal... If someone had a half-thousand American Pesos to buy a golden-chromed mech to further that cause in my poor stead, good on them, and thank you!
On the timeline-side though (and I may be corrected), but I believe the Bushy was designed around 3048, but due to design flaws it was shelved until the Spheroids got their sausages on the schematics for the Vulture, which they back engineered to make the BSW a viable chassis...
On the art side, I must admit that it COULD be a tad more squat, and the upper body a little shorter in the rear-end (behind the arms)... BUT I still think it's a hell of a redesign...
Regardless though, looking forward to this one!

BUT, I'm in the side of folks that had been waiting and expecting it to be more lore-like and follow it's design intent...shorter stance, lower wider profile, etc. Sure this may fullfil the "designed to have a smaller forward profile to make the 'Mech a harder target to hit." part of the write up. But I still would have preferred shorter, wider, squat to super thin but super tall and gangly. This, to me, looks like the non-humanoid version of the grasshopper....
But, I'll pick it up and give it a go. If anything, maybe it'll fill my niche for a ballistic/missile CRB-ish mech.

The Bushwacker have always been a trustworthy mech in M4 Mercs when I played back then. Odd profile but that makes it quite unique. Along with the Marauder which also have these jet fighter, chicken leg features it makes them both stand out from the humanoid mechs of the IS. Also the Clans which are notorious for using jet fighter mechs with bird legs etc but they sure do have their own share of humanoid mechs as well.
I like the design. Its narrower which is a metalgod send, since you know, if you are gonna put an xl in there, you do want as little ST exposure as possible. From the looks of it, I guess piloting it like a smaller Marauder can be a clue on how good it really is or have potentional to be.
BW and MAD are head on brawlers but need to be aware of the flanks. Super tanky with STD, totally viable with XL.

The Battletech TV show is what got me into Mechwarrior in the first place. I even use clips from the show as part of my soundboard. Anyone who drops with me can expect Nicolai Malthus to come onto comms and declare "Now switching to enhanced imaging!"
I've been hoping for this mech for awhile now, and I'm glad it's coming.
It stands a little too high though. Much like the Linebacker, its legs should be bent at a more sharp angle so it hugs the ground tighter.
Still...this is a good first notice. I am looking forward to this mech!
Especially if it comes with the fist starburst logo of the 1st Somerset Strikers...
And a warhorn that takes clips from the TV show...
Seconded. If I ever drop with you, I am now expecting to hear that soundbite on VOIP. Just saying...
/would love a Mechwarrior miniseries a la Dune

I think it was a defunct chassis that was given new life based on stolen Clan info. But I don't believe it is a true omni, IS or otherwise.
Well lore-wise. The bushwacker used the basis of the Mad Dog (Vulture) which was a stolen clan Omnimech. The only way i could see them not making the bushwacker an omnimech simply because it would confuse people too much seeing as. as far as i know anyway. Clan have always been the omnimechs and innersphere are always solid mechs. I would be very happy however if they did make the bushwacker the first inner sphere omnimech though!

But, we still have a bunch of 3025/3050/ 2750 mechs left to bring out. Here's a list off the top of my head. Let me know if I missed any.
Light:
Flea
N-Thorn
Stinger/Wasp (I'd make them variants of the same chassis)
Valkyrie
Medium:
Vulcan
Assassin
Hatchetman
Merlin (if you want to go weirdly old school)
Scorpion (probably hard to do a quad)
Heavy:
Axeman
Ostol/Otroc
Assault:
Charger
Thug/Hatomoto Chi
Marauder II

I loved the Bushwacker in MW4 but I also liked the gameplay more. In MWO, the thinner is better.
