Kodiak's and clan tech represent 63 of the 75 slots in the assault class. You have to go down 10 positions before seeing a single IS mech that contributed most to a player's score. This is not an accident. 13 IS mechs to the Kodiak and dire wolf spam. Of the Kodiak and dire wolf spam, about 1/5 of the clan tech is direwolf. There are a smattering of IS mechs, mostly maulers and awesome, but it is mostly Kodiak's. 42 Kodiak's are listed. 42!!!!
People scream that Kodiak's are not OP, but they are. Thif they weren't, then they would be represented on that board with infrequency like the Highlander or a Zeus. But no, we are left with the UAC spam.

I doubt anything will be done about the Kodiak in the near future, because:
-It is most likely the best selling mech within the last two years, so a lot of people would get upset
-It was already nerfed slightly
-PGI is working on that Powerdraw thingy. No use touching Quirks again before that is implemented
And don't overrate that tournament. Or expect it to be fair.

What does this have to do with the Faction Play part of the forum exactly?

Particularly since the Kodiak is decidedly not OP in Faction Play. Unless you're on defense (maybe), you are better off with Timbys and Ebon Jags.

When you see a mech that is doing well go on sale, be afraid, be very afraid it is going to get slapped upside the cockpit with the nerbat in the very near future.
Its cause they know it wont sell after that.

KDK3 being dakka boat requires huge amount of face time to being effective. Other option is to flank oppo and shoot from cover. For a huge 100 tonner, this is not so easy. And this is what sets really good players apart, using cover effectively and landing shots when opportunity arises.
How many of you actually drives Kodiak?

I wont even use my KDK-3 but my SB kicks butt (ok I suck less in it)
the big thing I like is its turn speed so if I get attacked by a light I am not helpless

I was floored when they backed off a bit. Not a lot, certainly didn't send them running to regroup or anything but it slowed them down, suddenly something of, roughly, comparable weight and performance had the experienced players backing off a little. Enough to let some of my team actually gain a bit of ground.
Now the Kdk3 is a monster: good mobility, solid firepower, heavily armored, good weapon placement..frankly, I still think the Kodiaks were a needed addition to the Clan's Asssault class. But I'm thinking about picking up some other IS Assault class to see what else might be able to withstand a Kodiaks consistent dps to get some good return fire. While I'd guess that IS Heavies will continue to be the workhorses of IS Dropecks, I'm hardpressed to the call the Kodiak overpowered.

I drive them all the time. Strongest mech in the game, and that isn't a close call.
The dakka boat does not require lot's of facetime at all, and I have no idea why people keep throwing that silliness out. You have high mounts to poke and double tap for huge damage in less time than the duration of an average laser, meaning you don't need more facetime than the typical laser vomit mech. You CAN facetank effectively if you WANT to simply because almost no other mech can match your firepower 1v1, but you dont HAVE to do that because you have the best of two worlds.
You also have the strongest PPFLD build in the entire game on the same mech, requiring almost no facetime at all and being just as strong as the dakka build. In other words the facetime argument has exactly zero validity.
