oh right the one with all the "top competitive players"

because it makes total sense to let less than 1% of the player base dictate what the other 99% should get out of the game

If Paul was reading the opinions of the top 1%, I can guarantee that the PTS would look a lot different than it does now...

I don't understand this new approach. Why is this happening now, and why didn't it happen before? And when is the PTS jump jet edition starting? Because I'd like to participate in that.

It happened once during Info Warfare PTS change. Lasers got lock based range, ECM Jesus box was removed, mechs got arbitrary detection range... I so effing wish PGI had gone through removal of Jesus box effect from the ECM. Who knows, we might have properly balanced LRMs by now, should that went through.

Maybe he uses braille...through his computer screen.

That may explain why he derps so many things.

Stop, you had me at Gauss charge! Ok, I dont know what your saying but I agree with everything your saying!

Oh... And can there be a 8v8 FW map? I love 8v8!!!! I miss 8v8!!!!

The only reason Ed remotely got a positive reception was because it was 4 v 4 and gauss charge was removed and ammo wasn't much of an issue because only need to kill 4 targets not 12.

Any top tier good player will try to build his mech to kill 12 mechs. Hence why there is always energy on a build and ballistics used as +DMG.

Oh, I'm sure PGI thought this would be a relatively simple process. But like in nature the unseen roots of trees are often intertwined with another...

Or in other words, I'm quite positive PGI did not fully realize or appreciate the potential of the domino effect happening when they dove into this project.

For anyone who's done even something as simple as editing HTML can vouch how quickly a small change in code can suddenly manifest in a bizarre ripple effect where it impacts things you could never anticipate. (I shudder just thinking about personal experience with this)

Long and short, like tasks around the house... Sometimes the task snowballs into a major project before you even realize it. I'd hazard PGI had no grand plan for this to suddenly encompasses so many different peripheral aspects when replacing GH with ED.

(We're not going to discuss my last do-it-yourself plumbing adventure)... Posted Image

Well, I was bored

The PTS4 has some of the highest sustained damage you can come across for lasers (and mid range lasers, at that)

Testing was River City river (neutral map), and always running, with a coolshot used towards the end
Banshee 3M with 3 LPLs (and an ML for dem face mounts)
Aside from the DHS test, which needed to remove the ML to mount the 22nd heatsink

22 DHS on Live allows for 13 back to back shots
That's 429 damage

35 SHS on Live allows for 20 back to back shots
That's 660 damage

35 SHS on edPTS4 allows for 28 back to back shots
That's 756 damage (-6 dam per alpha kinda sucks though)

This information isn't much use, but there it is!

Just got to take it in strides man. PGI now wants to do a lot of changes in one go, so we're going to get a lot of changes in one go. As long as you have solid fundamentals and are willing to adapt, you'll be good to go whenever PGI decides to launch this thing into the live-server.

We can only hope in the mean time

Praise be RNGeesus, may he bless us by placing the darts on MG CoF removal and HoverJet™ investigation

To be fair, though (while I agree completely); ECM is finally, after 4 years of being a magic jesus box, just a useful piece of equipment, but one you'd consider not using on a mech capable of using it.

My dirty not-a-secret-at-all: I love it when PGI changes all sorts of **** around. It's like I get a shiny new MWO to learn again! Happy days!

Sadly, I guess most don't share my shiny-new-MWO enthusiasm :)

Didn't read the entire thread so someone might of said this already...

But my guess for the sudden big changes is really simple:

HBS is making Battletech game... so finally there is competition for the attention of Mech enthusiasts, making PGI very afraid of losing the players they already have unless they finally try and do something to keep their player base.

im not even sure paul -Russ- or the PGFI staff can read this English forum? (Fixed that for you)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Besides there all on the French Canadian Lindkin forums where the majority of MWO players post and the best decisions will be made.

Russ Want to buy a mech pack now? To finance my new Yacht? Or Brian and the staffs new Jet?

If it's not involving Dartboard of Jesus, someone is obviously the paperdoll whisperer... telling our balance overlord how he was violated by Mist Lynxes and Vindicators.

I'm sure the Phoenix Hawk gang is gonna show up one day and wail at all the seals.

Simple answer they are leveling the playing field.
No more uber meta laser mechs or maybe I should say you can do it but at a price.
As well it should be.
If this was the real world both sides would run out of men and mechs in a week of combat.
I'm sure the tryhards will find a new meta.
