Because it looks like the first handfull of replies would win. Anyone posting them right away was more likely to win, not the best mech build.

Easy. Since you'll have to find players anyway, just have a team of IS with 12, Clan with 10, do all you just said. Make sure Full teams is set to 'No' and Play. There ya go. No private lobby extra work for PGI.

Now the 12 IS vs 10 Clan SHOULD have been done from the very beginning to be accurate, but only in FW. No reason to do that kind of coding for QP. And maybe the accurate team sizes may give some extra insight on balancing. And yes you may say that balance changes made for FW using correct team sizes may not transition well for QP balance, but both teams are mixed techs anyway most of the time. Balance changes made for clans to only field 10 in FW (meaning probably slightly stronger maybe, unless left alone), and would theoretically cancel each other out in QP.

Yes! We can finally prove why the IS needs quirks in order to be effective against a team of just as many Clan Mechs.


Because we all know that a game where the Mechs on one side are more fun and powerful than the Mechs on the other side is destined for a smooth Market reception.

Come on people, admit it, 10v12 would NOT be a good way to deploy a game on the open market where you are trying to attract more new players than the total of established fans. All the new players would immediately recognize that Clan mechs are better and more fun than inner sphere Mechs. This would absolutely wreck the Matchmaker. You know it.

Stock mode is there for established fans; 10 vs 12 is not the best way to make the game for the open public.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if I heard right, PGI said stock mode will be 3025 (pre clan invasion).
I might be wrong but I don't think you will see Clan ver IS in stock mode.

Edit: well they put omnipods in there bullet points so looks like clans are in?!?

• Weapon Groups (Weapon Groups can be changed in-match; those changes will only be in place for the duration of the match)

As you're now guessing. I don't think stock mode does anything but revert your selected mech back to the stock configuration it comes in. That's gonna mean a lot of still usable clan mechs, and a ton of useless single heat sink IS mechs. Still should be fun if some aggressive team balancing is done.

Be careful with your thanks.
It looks like it's only in privat matches.
So no stock mech mode for most of the community.
Or am I wrong?

That is my understanding, yes. You'll need someone with Premium time to open the private lobby and you'll need to collect a bunch of mates to join you in there so it's not going to be like just signing on and dropping into a PUG 24 mech Stock Drop.

Still, I've seen a number of community sponsored Stock nights already coming together so shouldn't be an issue getting matches given the excitement in general many people have to run true Stock.

I've even seen some of the Stock nights going so far as to limit to Tech level 1 Stock which is just wonderfully evil in it's limitations. Can't wait to try it. Posted Image

Hm.

Ok, I think stock and IS vs Clan 10/12 etc are all capable of being really popular...what we need is a really functional chat and search lobby.

I.e. when you click LFG you bring up a chat window showing who else is in the lobby and all the servers/private lobbies that are currently available and you can filter based on your preferences. You should be able to set up your private lobby/server and still function in the main lobby chat *easily* while maintaining the lobby. Make the chat windows movable/sizable/stackable.

This is a vital communication capability that will vastly improve the game's ability to function...it also makes recruiting for a match easy to do for people without long standing relationships in a unit already. Lone wolves can hop in after some discussion with little trouble as opposed to the current system.

You can replace the entire quick play function with this as far as I'm concerned.

I'm honestly ok with that level of exploiting at this point.

...of course I'd like it better if there was a fully functioning system in place but I'll take "beta" software improvements and their hiccups as they come.

Not likely to replace QP anyway, just sayin' I'd be ok with it. We still need a real chat function...like...really bad. No one exists in this game outside of units and an actual match.

Well I am thinking more in terms of if it "replaced" QP, would we then get cbills, XP, challenge credit from these private matches?

That might just kinda-sorta-maybe oh I dunno *wreck* the economy in MWO?

Teams just take turns pummeling each other as fast as possible to maximize rewards...

Yeah, that's the only problem I could see with it. Maybe a big one, but honestly the economy in MWO is nearly nonexistent. If I really want a specific mech, modules, etc I can grind it out in a weekend including the new engine and weapons etc already. Since there are really few mechs that are head and shoulders above the others I really don't care if people get more mechs a little faster.

Doing it often enough to really have an impact would be boring as hell too.

...but yeah, probably best to not eliminate quick play until you had a way to stop the worst of that.

I was hoping that the bugs in the FP events would be sorted out, but I guess that was too much to ask for...

In addition, since the Clans use Stars (5 'Mechs per unit) whereas the Inner Sphere uses only 4 'Mechs in a unit, the FP would be a lot more balanced if the Clans were only able to drop with their Clan equivalent of units in FP, since, with the advantages of Clan combat and technology would be more than enough to make up for being two 'Mechs down... And would actually provide Inner Sphere forces a chance to actually win some FP events instead of getting slaughtered every time.

"Private Match Lobbies now have three new 'Tier 1' Premium Options in place, through which players can choose to run their Private Matches with 'Stock Loadouts', 'Ignore Quirks', and 'Ignore 'Mech Skill Tree Efficiencies' modifiers.
As these are 'Tier 1' Premium Options, at least one player in the Lobby must have Active Premium Time in order to access these Options"

They almost got me as well...I thought it was a new quick play mode.

Are you guys ever going to fix the problem that came into the last patch where hovering or clicking over a pod, weapon, equipment in the mech lab loadout screen no longer pops open an info box ???

Do you have Disable Tool Tips option checked in your Settings? That will prevent the info windows from appearing.
