SDR-5k Has one energy, and 2 arm mounted machine guns, so that is probably 2 arm ballistic hardpoints. I doubt you'll be able to run a gauss spider, but might get an ac5, or ua5 (probably not) on there....we'll see ;)

This will be the first light mech I actually like the looks of except the commando, but commando is nerfed by not having JJ in my opinion...spider has them, so I may actually pilot this thing.

My one fear is it won't be well armed enough. I really hope it can pump out at least 18 dmg...Oh and I hate spiders so change the name to something cool please...like the crazy ferret...or the shrew...pound for pound one of the most deadly mammals in nature :D

Not sure if you realize, but this is a digital adaptation of a table top game. So, for the most part, as goes BattleTech so goes Mechwarrior, and while they might change minor things, mech names aren't amongst those. Canon and all that.

No they will not change the name. Nor should they. The spider is one of the coolest mechs there is. It also has a story about why it is called a spider. Do you see the red coloring in between the chest plates? That is the bonding used to set the armor plates together. It is a bright red color. Because it looked like a spider web an engineer or some official named it the spider.

FASA took the trouble to write a background for almost every thing in their game. This is why Battletech has a hard core following. If you really want a mech named the shrew the best you are going to get is a mongoose.

25 tons, better armed, and just as fast.

200 engine, 3 medium lasers, one small lasers, and BAP.
It has five variants that are well with in the time frame for MWO. One of which has a missile mount. Another has an ECM and MASC. This would be a great addition to the game.

No Jets, BAP is useless (or nearly so) A Modded spider will undoubtedly be able to carry the same or more weapons.
Stock builds are nrext to meaniingless in this game. So what's your point?

The point that you COMPLETELY missed was that this was an optional mech for the guy who wanted a mech named as Shrew.

Another lagshield unkillable light mech will be released in a week. Are you happy? I'm not.

If the Spider doesn`t get ECM it`s just going to be Raven`s bait. A Commando with ECM and 3 streaks will also be superior. And a Jenner will offer more firepower.

Jump jets will be very usefull .... for mid-air explosions.

So right now in the game Commando 2D with 3 streaks and Raven 3L currently outclass all other lights by far simply due to ECM, Jenner-D being a distant 3rd due to excellent maneuverability, decent firepower and adequate armor. So for the Spider I hope it gets ECM or has some insane level of jump/maneuverability because I want to actually pilot it without it being considerably gimped compared to the other lights from day 1.

Though many people like it, the spider is a poorly designed 'mech, that sacrifices 3 tons for a paltry +1MP, that makes little difference. Granted, it makes it easier to run 10 hexes, but there is no difference in the TT between jumping 8 and jumping 7, and 2 tons of offensive weaponry is a joke.

Thing is - in the TT, jump jets are useful, because they add +1 defense modifier, and it's easier to jump 5, than run 5 across terrain. But I honestly don't believe the spider's 8 JJ will make any difference.

You can tripple the loadout if you take endo steel, and a 210 engine with7 JJs (you save 4.5 tons), or use an XLE 210, endo and you get 11 tons of weapons, about the maximum useful amount if you wish to retain speed.

It really depends on the hardpoints - the dragoon (Jenny F with 6 SL, mimicking the loadout of the Wolf's Dragoons WSP-1W Wasp) only carries 3 tons of offensive weaponry, and is an effective killer.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's already near impossible to hit a Raven, Jenner, Commando or Cicada, and now they're adding a mech that's faster than all of those stock? I hope they get a lag fix in between now and then.

Well, they just announced a lag fix, a couple actually. Every time I get ready to blast them for doing things in the wrong order, they surprise me. Kudos!
