Oh, and another similarity: Dire Wolves are f*cking terrifying in both universes.

A quote from Ygritte to Jon Snow, and from Russ to the MWO community.

Clans representing white walkers is too far off for me, I don't really see any comparable thing in got to the clans.

What I'm wondering about, as I'm not too familiar with Game of Thrones, is which IP came first?

Battletech came first, game of thrones was just books before the tv show, so it hasn't been an "IP" more than a few years. Not sure when the first book was released but certainly much later than battletech.
However I think the comparison is rather vacuous, battletech is bright coloured kitschy boy dream 80s space opera and A song of ice and fire is dark and grimy epic fantasy. I'm not why either of them would want to be compared to the other, Like comparing David Bowie to Eminem, what's the point?

History came first, as both Battletech and GoT rip off most of their stuff from historical events and nations.

So, Robert Baratheon is the GoT-Amaris?

Since both are based on the Mongols and various hordes, you could say that.
And no, Robert is more Richard Cameron.

I would say the Targaryans are the Camerons and Robert is Amaris.
But works in your way too i think.
