I suppose it depends on which games you play and your mentality with regard to end strategy, in dota2 for instance killing your own in denial of opposition score xp and gold resource is absolutely a thing.

If it's good enough for DOTA2, it's good enough for MWO. Posted Image

For suiciding, when I was the last man standing on my team, 3 to 11.

The battle was hopelessly lost, and I figured it was better if I just died quickly so everyone could start another battle sooner, instead of trying to drag the battle out.

Here are my battle result screens:

To the best of my knowledge, the rule against suiciding is about players that suicide at the start of the battle, either overheating, out of bounds or 'zerg rushing' into the enemy team, so I didn't think what I did was against game rules.

So did I do anything wrong? Did I break game rules and deserve the report?

How did you suicide? Overheating while firing at the enemy?

Who was the douchenozzleresidue that reported you?

Dude, don't ask him that. You'll get him in trouble for name & shame.

Someone that has a far better understanding of the rules we all agree to play by then you do.

Don't like the rules, don't play.

I takes being a real Dbag to get a temp ban for anything other than a blatant hack or death threat/hate speech. Pretty sure just because someone says they are reporting you means nothing. It is the player's actions and number of reports, that PGI will look at.

I will type in all chat to report players not actively engaging in combat at the end of matches if there is zero chance for a win and somebody is still at over 90% health. I will not give their location away and I will not insult them or call them names. It is usually obvious that they are the same folks who are scared by the threat of being reported and they usually head back into combat.

Reporting folks is a tool PGI gives the player base, but it is PGI who determines if it is a real issue.

Hey folks... try to keep it cordial....

As mentioned plenty of times above, players should do their best for a win, if possible. Or at least a few extra c-bills & xp. Going by the screenshots, if it was an Arctic Cheetah with 2 legs and some weapons, there may have still been a chance against the 9.

How many reports get you the minimum timeout?

As in, any time anyone reports you, you automatically get a timeout? Or, you must get reported twice or some such?

I often get a timeout and have no idea why. Didn't really notice anyone saying anything. It's just there waiting for me after the match.

That sounds as if you're referring to the automated penalty system that was introduced. It adds up friendly fire damage, teamkills, and early disconnects (and anything else it may be keeping track of) and penalizes depending on whichever limits it's set at -- indicating the player needs to be more careful to avoid that, whether intentional or accidental.

As for reported infractions, those can be reviewed by game moderators to judge severity. Beyond that, the details of those disciplinary actions are off-limits from discussion.

It was the Wolfhound on my own team that reported me. He was whining in VOIP about how I was a coward and stuff.

haha,, this post is funny... highest score and someone is complaining? Dude,.. when someone says i am reporting you, I have never let it bother me.. though typically i have not heard it, outside of a couple times when i got accused of cheating. I thought that was great, someone thought i was so good that i had to be cheating? that is new for me!

But, if you are the last person left, I honestly don't think PGI cares how you die, especially if you make it quick. You were in a light, you could of dragged out that game for over 10 more mins, and been perfectly in the rules.. guy should thank you not ***** about it

@OP: OoB Suicide, if it's intentional, is reportable. However, popping Override and trying to burn down as many enemies as you can before your own heat kills you is entirely acceptable and preferable for all parties. You even have a shot at straight-up winning, if you get a little lucky with where the heat damage shows up. I've won a match or two by finishing off the last two or three enemies moments before my own reactor pops.

Ultimately, it boils down to this: contribute, do what you can to win, and if your team lets you down and it isn't viable to pick the enemy off one at a time then pop your override and go for broke.

Honestly, it is so hard to prove anyway if it is very rare.. If you do it all the time, you might have something happen, but every now and again, i highly doubt anything would happen to you.

For example, I have gone out of bounds one or twice, purely on accident.. How would they prove it wasn't this? it's not like your paths are recorded.

I have had my MASC stick on for some reason. I only use the press to MASC button, but for some reason there is some weird bug, that if you go to far into the red, and let go, the MASC still climbs.. (maybe intended?) I have killed myself on more than one occasion because of this.. Only work around i have found is to hit power down.. It can save you, but if not quick enough your dead.

JJ's.. Yup died to falls a few times as well.. Whoops.. guess i miss judged..

Even the OOPs, Alpha override heat explosion is plausible.. "I thought i toggled it off.. and tried to Alpha kill them."

The point is, Unless you do it often, there is nothing that is going to happen for the occasion suicide, especially after everyone else is dead.

The whole point of this is to find people that game the system and troll people.. Not the random end match early, or i screwed up, or any number of oops you can make and die because of it. OP has no problem with this event if it is the Exception, not the norm.
