... you experience your 13th straight loss, having spawned on Alpine Domination, on the side of the map that always wins ... but your PUG team loses 3-12.

Seriously.

I woke up this morning thinking "Great! I'll get to play a lot of MWO today!" I end the day wondering why I even bother to play any more when I can't even get a 2XP on a Mech.

You need to sell your strategy. There are hoards of players who would love to lose that many matches so they can drop a tier and fight newer, less experienced players.

Hold on a second! You lost after dropping from the side of the map that always wins?!

Best way to avoid losing streaks is to join a good unit. But yeah, as someone who pugs 99% of the time, losing streaks are brutal. As the number of players continues to drop, matchmaker is putting more and more potatoes in the stew.

When there's an event almost everyday and it brings out the tryhards and their ultra high burst damage low risk meta builds when you're just trying to play with your casual builds.

And also when weapons seem to start doing only half damage even though you know for a fact that open CT mech should've died when you blasted it while he/she overheated.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either.

And not even a close loss.

3-12.

...

/in before someone says "you are the common factor in your 13 straight losses".

EDIT: Ninja'd LOL.

Yeah, I know. I'm supposed to be able to carry harder.

It's really stupid. As I climbed in tier I thought things would get better as I got to play more and more with players who were experienced and knew what they were doing but it's just the same stupid bull over and over again. Stomp or be stomped, the good matches where you can't be sure who will win until the end are rare as diamonds. Hell I'm in a unit and it's not much better. And I know that matchmaker can't really predict what will be a good team, but with all this data on average scores, K/D and W/L ratios and the like you'd think it could do a slightly better job.

And I totally agree on xp. One of the reasons this is so grindy is that PGI gives out XP like it physically pains them.

Yeah, the issue with "you're the common factor" argument is that if one person can cause the team to lose then every match ever played would be a loss because of one person not being up to snuff with the rest of the team.

It's when half or more of the team is at the wrong place at the wrong time is mostly the factor. (ie: no one person is to blame)

My comment is meant "in general".

Yeah, that's what I expected, too. But the opposite feels like it's true. There's usually a third to half of the team who does <150 damage. But perhaps that's just the dwindling player population.

The one thing I can't fathom is how I can get 13 straight losses. Sure, statistics says a million straight losses is "possible". But 13 straight should be highly improbable, if it were just down to chance.

That's nothing. When this event starting I had a peak at the leaderboard, which I rarely do. I had a win/loss ratio of 0.34 or nearly a 70% loss rate. It's since gone up quite a bit but I was still blown away.

Think about it for a minute:
Pugs mean total random teams. On BOTH sides.
Meaning if your team mates suck, those in the enemy team suck as well. Not in every match, but in the long run.
In the long run, it's PERFECTLY 50-50.
You CANNOT lose like 14 times in a row.

EXCEPT: you're the reason. That is the ONLY explanation.

If you are tier 1 and are one of few in your team, you are meant to kind of carry and/or neutralize the other team's tier 1 guy.
If you keep losing and losing, you know why.

That's... not how statistics works.

There's a flaw in your theory.

Shouldn't there occasionally be a Tier 1 guy on the other side who is as bad as me?

At least once in 13 matches...?

Does anyone still remember me saying long ago that there was such a thing as "Elo Heaven" and that it was elusive except for a lucky very few?

Well, I am here to tell everyone that there is also such a thing as "PSR Heaven" and it ain't in T1. <maniacal Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image>

I think it should be obvious at this point, and can go without being said.
