I think it might have some correlation with the fact that real-life tanks put their turrets on top of the tank...

This is a very useful contribution to your own thread.
While I'm at it...
Even though it wouldn't see much upheaval considering the mechs being used, all of the reasons other mechs aren't being chosen are actually worse on the live servers due to the huge quirk nerfs that happened as well as the rescale disaster that made so many mechs, so much worse.
So you can thank proponents of those things for this continuing trend.

But hey working as intended I guess.
And no this not a stealth nerf clanky mech thread.
So stop.
Obvious is sooooooo Obvious.
You are ignoring what people are saying. Warhammers and Grasshoppers are well represented.

I still think we will see them in the 4 assault drops.. and getting in range won't be a problem, map dependent.
Only because there is a rule against Hero 'Mechs this season. Else, it would just be Spirit Bear all day, every day.

Yeah, cause we all remember how Clan Mechs got a nerf since the Tournament Client was set.
Oh, wait...

No one else is going to jump on this?
Go count how many Atlases were used in Season 7, Division A of MRBC.
MRBC's very particular deck rules (one duplicate chassis per drop most importantly) make a lot of mechs get used that aren't quite optimal though. Depending on map and drop, brawling can happen. In the structure of the MWOWC and its maps and drops Atlases would be suicides.

Long story short, bad players will always find things to complain about. As for myself, I play IS Mechs exclusively and I have never had any problems with Clan Mechs. They die just as easily as other IS Mechs do.

Yes, in MWOWC they would be terrible. But that wasn't the post I was responding to. Saying "An Atlas can't get within 250 m without being stripped in a competitive match" is false, and is a statement made by someone who has never played a competitive match.

Heh... I remember one particular (Div D) drop
We brought a Mauler and a Banshee (2 Maulers?) along with a DDC
Everything died before the DDC got close, he ended up with 1 damage, to my and the Mauler's 800+
We slaughtered Whales before they closed.
I know Div A can close more competently, and not hobble around the Stargate, but they can also shoot better.

Since we all know the tournament client runs on a build from several months ago where rescaling and requirking didn't happen, there is no need to discuss balance based on it. But nice little sneaky "nerf clanmechs" thread nevertheless.
Well, since you brought it up...

With proper approach it doesn't matter how well they shoot. Admittedly, since they made Frozen City not a brawl map anymore we will likely see less Atlai now, coupled with the addition of the KDK-3.

I'm not sure you'll ever see Atlai again
2 Kodiaks, every time
Token pair of Assaults otherwise
Barring the dartboard doing something, of course

I just asked a simply question because I lost track of the tourney.
Which in hindsight this was the wrong place to ask.
But as a whole I find most of you clan pilots so full of it.
You simply can't tell the difference between your front hand actuator and your exhaust port.
It was just a simple question.

Hey, I still run and actually am quite fond of my Atlas. Oddly enough, what got me into Atlases was the Kodiak. I play my KDK-2 in much the same way an Atlas is played, and when I saw myself doing that (KDK was the first 100 tonner I ever owned), I thought "Hey, isn't this how you're supposed to play an Atlas? If I'm having so much fun doing this in a Kodiak I bet I love myself an Atlas." So after I mastered my KDK-2 I went out and bought an Atlas and never looked back.

Fair, I was just reading in the context of the thread. Certainly there are other places it would at least get to brawl.

I just say it to get a rise out of people. Same with Cyclopii.
The actual plural of cyclops is cyclopes. Look it up. You can get a rise out of people and be right.
