When Battletech Comes Out Next Year How Many Will Play Both Those Games Or Choose One Or The Other?

But as MWO is almost the only game I play, I guess it will be getting half or less than half of my time.
As others have said, I hold grave fears for the future of MWO, as the player base does seem to be dropping significantly and every match now is just a clusterfudge of all tiers together.

Yeah. Never before have I been able to get so many of the same names in consecutive drops. It's alarming.

Lots of non-players still on these boards.

Only one problem
Since I joined in closed beta the game has not been going forward a lot
At least it feels that way
But then that's quite some years playing the same game
Still
Like only one map every 4 months or so
Meh
Missing old caustic, sick of HPG and mining
Will see what Russ is talking about coming end of the year

When I have no good single player game to play, I play MWO alot more. Thus in the end, I play MWO ALOT.
When you stop raging about old promises (that are years ago broken), MWO is a really good pvp player game. Which I love more then any other PvP game out there, like dreadnought, hawken, world of tanks, etc.
FYI: I dislike (alot) TWITCH games and Airplane pvp.
I do not know how people can rage so much about MWO and say Overwatch, COD or WoT, etc is great. I just think MWO is a better game (maybe because I am old and getting older).
I really get bored with games like Battlefield, CoD, Overwatch, Hawken, etc, really fast.
I think PGI has gotten better the past year or so. So I think we should stop harping on old promises and judge them from what they did this year. Which while not great, is not rage inducing like 3~4 years ago.

I won't touch overwatch with a 10 foot poll and I am at least half as young. Kudos to the developers but it's easier to make games for the shooter crowd. Ever since the first call of duties that genre has been refined. So much so that its been 20 years and all the games feel the same.

Agreed. Play one twitch reflect shooter. Played them all or at least played the basic concept for every other shooter game there is.
Thus I really respect games likw MWO, Dreadnaught, Fractured Space more. Sadly I got time for only one niche game and that is MWO (working life sucks).

The both scratch completely different itches
Sometimes I want to command a unit of braindead AI that obey my every crazy idea without question
Other times I want to strap in and do the shooting myself because I'm sick of useless AI pilots missing everything
Other times I fly about in star citizen
If dice would stop killing battlefield that would take a slice of time too ,but after the horror show that battlefront was ,I won't be touching another dice game ever again, SC will replace my fps needs

What HERESY are you talking about! Of cause games cannot COEXIST. You MUST play a game, that game ONLY, from morning to night, for hours and hours, never bending, never touching ANYTHING else. Till the ends of time or after you get bored and get to your RAGE boilg point. After which then you must go on the forums, and rage on it, making a huge fuss.
At same time, you MUST go to another game and repeat the same cycle. All the while keep on posting of each game forum, till you are on the various forums more then you play any game. At which time, you must suffer from gaming burn out and trash everything. Only to start the cycle again.
At which time, games from the old cycle pass, become the "good old days" and you must compare all new games to said old games with tainted coloured lens. Forgetting all the bad things you raged against.

I can't give them the respect since they're all mostly PvP F2P games in a market flooded with F2P and early access games.

Which ones are better? If my standards are so low, name 10 better games of all the hundreds of popular FPS games out there. Or just name 5.

and your obviously blind to the fact that all shooters are exactly the same, but with different art assets.
The only thing I like about Overwatch has nothing to do with the game itself, which is terrible, but the costumes the hotness wear at conventions.
It makes my midlife crisis twitch, to show me I'm still alive.

Because there are people here that cannot stand MWO anymore and puts a lot of expectations on the upcoming new BT game. It does not metter if one is a FPS and the other is turn based so it's like comparing apple to oranges.
I do not understand how you can compare the two games and why they cannot cohexist, they really only have the "Battletech" IP in common, for the other parts they're completely different.
It's like saying "when FIFA17 will come out will you stop playing X-Com 2 ?"...

While I agree on most on the critics about PGI (lack of a "vision", slow developement, etc) I tried similar games like WoT and World of Warships and and I personally prefer MWO. The core mechanics are good, maybe they're the same as the 2012 beta, but they're still very solid in my opinion.

I like this perspective.
I think the big picture to consider is that there's an overall resurgence in BT/MW content after a long hiatus. MWO kind of launched that, and despite its failings MWO's done a HUGE service to the franchise with the new 3D art assets. It's far less likely that we'd get stuff like HBS BT without PGI's groundwork. And now the TT development also seems on an upswing.
It doesn't have to be a zero-sum game, but a synergistic process by which BT/MW as a whole reclaims more territory in the gaming world -- different developers feeding art assets to one another, people introduced to the franchise through MWO/HBS BT/tabletop, and then developing interest in "the other game".
