I will play BT, but this game, only way id play, is if it gets some PVE coop campaigns.

How I understand it, HBS probably won't go that far initially, but they will possibly offer Co-op multiplayer against Bot-controlled forces.

When someone says something along the lines of "The Federated Commonwealth in 3054..." and 20 people jump in to say ACTUALLY THE FEDERATED COMMONWEALTH WASN'T OFFICIAL UNTIL VICTOR TOOK CHARGE it gets a bit old.

Your offended by this ?
Its a hazard of all games based on a fictional lore, not just BT, there will always be geeks with a desperate need to correct people, where games are involved.

Myself I reinvented the lore to suit my group of players when we did BT and MWRPG on a regular basis, people preach it like gospel, when really its just a guide for peoples enjoyment

By buying mech packs for MWO, I pay for more mechs in HBS BT.

I'll be supporting both.

As of right now, it's single player PvE, and 1v1 PvP only. Co-op or PvP modes beyond 1v1 are usually met with the standard 'In success all things are possible' line.

I have zero intention of investing a single second of my time or a single cent of my money with HBS BattleTech. I have no desire to do on my computer what would be even better as a live social event with my local group of friends.

I want an interesting shooter and I have one right here.

One could argue the same for a shooter style game.

Then again, I suppose that would make one a psychopath.

Well, the possibility exists here, considering that their Shadowrun games got some expansions and installments later.

Of course, the basic BattleTech game must be successful.

I've finally budgeted the £¥$ and identified the vendors and contractors required to build myself a gaming cockpit/workstation and it's not for MWO. How's that for an answer? <shrugs>

Strategy games scratch a different itch than FPS', so I don't think the two games are really mutually exclusive.

Competition for one's time and attention is the issue.

Wow far too many bitter people in here - if you don't play the game then go do something else rather than complaining on the forum about how you don't play the game - no one is going to listen to the opinion of someone who doesn't play.

I'll play both, assuming that the new game is any good of course

I can understand that desire, the social side of B.T my little group though stopped being a thing, when adulthood arrived, bringing families and having to work my *** off to put food on the table and pay the bills, same for the others so moments when we could became so few and far between that it stopped.

The local groups start around 7pm and go on until around 11pm weekdays, I finish at 6.30pm.

So for many having a PC game similar to a game that brought hours of enjoyment without the problems of having to balance not just your own but others family and social needs is for me a good thing, I have enough trouble actually being a useful member of my unit because of life and all that goes with it.

These days when I get together with friends its beer, food and catching up on what's been happening in the last three or more months :)

For me, it's not about 3rd person or 1st person anymore. It's about having a single player campaign with a semi-decent story. Being that this is HBS that we're talking about, after the three Shadowrun games, I have high hopes on the story end of things for the campaign.

I might pop back into MWO from time to time, but most of the time that I play MWO, I end up leaving irritated. I feel like I'm "Grinding", unlike when I'm playing something like Doom or X-com where I feel like I'm playing a game. That's not a good sign. PGI will need to make some dramatic fixes to FP and include some semblance of a story - give me a reason to want to play - in order to keep me around.

Depends if PGI manages to make the game considerably worse by that point.

Their current track isn't exactly stellar this year, with multiple poorly received features.

Since I don't give a damn about TT, I don't really see any changes happening personally (other than PGI finding ways to make MWO worse again).

Either the term 'FPS' has been greatly watered down since I last checked, or people really are expecting Star Citizen to be the cross genre spanning master piece that Yathzee once joked Duke Nukem was.

No doubt.
And I predict a huge migration.
Except for the twitchers of course.

both for me. I'm not a huge fan of turn based games but with mwo assets by the creator of BT I'm certainly going to give it a try. for my fps fix I'll be doing mw:o assuming pgi still has it up and running. IF not I've got back up data of mwo that I can use for experimental and personal projects.

I want to drive the mechs myself :) . Mechcommander was fun but it's more fun to get in the cockpit of that Marauder myself.

I'd probably spend more time playing the new Battletech (so long as it turns out to be as decent as I think it would be). I will probably keep MWO installed to do the odd drop though, and supplement the rest of my Mechwarrior fix by playing good ole Mechwarrior 2 Posted Image

Recently got back into MW:LL which has been satisfying my battletech fix lately. It's funny how MW:LL is starting to repopulate due to the disappointment of MW:O.

To answer your question OP, I'm probably going to wait until they release a clan DLC pack or think about buying it when the HBS devs hint to clan mechs. Even though I really did enjoy 2012 beta release MWO, MW2 got me into the series as a clanner. I'm expecting the worse out of PGI with this whole mechcon thing (and probably the 0 new mech releases until then).

I suggest everyone here to check out Mechcommander Omnitech for a RTS based game and Mechwarrior Living Legends if you want an alternative to MWO. Assault Tech 1:Battletech is great for singleplayer mech skirmishes.
