1~3 hours, MWO.
3+ hour, Battletech.

One is turn based strategy game with a solo campaign and the other is an online PVP FPS.
They satisfy different game "fixes".

As for the PvP in BT, since it's bolted on and not the primary focus, we can only hope it will be worthwhile.

I have been taking an extended break from MWO (haven't played in maybe 3 months), but I do plan on coming back eventually. I just burned myself out on it. MWO has fun gameplay elements and mechanics after all, but just lacks substance so I'm honestly surprised it took me this long to need a break.
I think Battletech will take up most of my gaming attention from Beta through to release. Playing Shadowrun, I can see that HBS has talent when it comes to these sorts of games. I think the Beta will be fun and engaging for a bit, and then once the final build is released, it will have the substance to keep me occupied for a while.
Either way, I can make time for both...I think.

*except for the absolute lorehammer folks who only want to see CBT faithfully incarnated on a PC screen, and ill be happy as hell to see those folks go, since i blame them almost entirely for all the whining.

I bounce between arma 3 and mwo. I gave up the rts itch, but if the game is interesting after release hype. "Stop Pre-ordering". Then I may make a purchase and put it in the rotation.
It's to bad more people who expected so much so quickly from a company and property such as this never played a Brad McQuaid game. This is Disney land. Grow up and move on if it is so terrible. Certainly posting here and leaking all that salt on everything is nothing but corrosive to those still getting enjoyment from the title.

I am still undecided if I should check Beta or wait for the finished and polished full game.

When HBS BT becomes playable, I will play the game that has what I want. I would encourage everyone else to do the same. Play whichever game you feel delivers what you are looking for.

Mechwarrior is losing my interest as well at this point since its the same old **** for the last 5 years.
My gaming time right now is in Elite:Dangerous, but I'm not even spending too much time there.

If you think you will like it, then it might be worth it for you to become a late backer. The game is only $25 at this point and purchasing that base backer level will get you into the beta. Even if the game releases for $25 or $30, it might be worth it for the early beta access alone.
With all early access games there is a risk in getting something that might never be finished, or might not meet expectations. I still feel though that HBS has a good proven track record and they seem (from Q&As and forum posts) to have very realistic goals. HBS has no problem stating that a feature won't be in game or is outside of scope for release. After the No Man's Sky debacle, it is nice to hear a dev actually tell you what will and won't be in game (even if it can be rather blunt at times).
Overall, If you think you will like a turn based tactical RPG along the lines of XCOM, Front Mission, FF Tactics, etc..., you like things Battletech, and you are willing to take the risk on an early access game, then I think getting into the beta for HBS's Battletech would be a good idea.
At the end of the day though, even if you like RPGs like that and Battletech, if you aren't comfortable with the gamble of Early access, it doesn't hurt to wait either. Just IMO, I think it is a very small gamble in this case.

I am a Valhalla-level Backer from the initial Kickstarter wave - I am going to have access to the Beta.
My thought was something akin: "Should I waste my time on a game in Beta, with incomplete features, freezing, not saving settings or something, etc.? Perhaps it would be better to wait until May or June to play the finished product where I can concentrate on gameplay instead of programming errors."
You know, I was in MW:T Beta ...

Whether I'll be playing MWO depends more on where this game goes in the coming years. Right now I'm at a stage where I feel MWO needs something profoundly new (good faction play, good game modes, long-term career goals, something) to keep me playing.
