The quick trick, if you don't want to go check TROs or Sarna, is to look at the variant names. If it's a Clan mech and any of it's variants have a number designation (Like SNV-1), it's not an omnimech. If it's all letters, it's an omnimech.

In the future, you can tell by looking at the Special Variant. If it is anything other than -Prime, it is a battlemech. Also, when you look at the hardpoints, omni-mech pages will say "Omni-pod Hardpoints" where battlemech pages will just say "Hardpoints". Also, looking at the loadouts on an omni-mech page will have many grayed out components which indicate the components are locked, where the white components are not locked. Battlemech loadouts will have only white components.

If all else fails, looking it up on sarna.net just to be sure is never a bad thing.

if anything they should save all the trouble and add in "Omnimech" somewhere on the page. would save alot of trouble and alot of fail by people.

It should say Battlemech or Omnimech... just so lazy people like me can use the search function and not have to put in that much more effort.

These are all good tips, it's just frustrating that they don't have an actual section in the factfile where it denotes whether it's an omnimech or a battlemech, I always forget that it says it at the top

Not going to buy it, I am mediocre at best in assaults plus my preordered Kodiaks got me thinking about propper balancing a lot lately. If I look at the state of the game as it is, I think the Linebacker will be my last purchase for quite some time.

Another handy tip that can help identify a mech is not an omni - if on the store page the max engine is not the same as the equipped engine on all variants, the mech is definately not an omni mech. The reverse doesn't work (kodiaks all came equipped with max engine), but since omnis can't change engines the two values have to be the same for them.

Mostly, yes. But we used it as well, and we do not really have anything else besides the Mad Cat Mk II for showing off in the Assault range.
