Ok, It's The Supernova. Are You Going To Buy It, Or Wait For C-Bills?

I look at it more like an older person approaching social security age: I've paid my fair share, now give me back what you promised.
Namely a CW that doesn't suck.
Others have their own axes to grind, but that's mine. Give me CW that is worth playing and feels like a campaign or is at least a bit immersive, and I will easily double what I have blown on this game. I will buy every mech pack and then some. I will even offer to shut the hell up and stop complaining if that helps get the deal done. No. I will promise to white knight every god damn thing they do from here on out including giving the Kodiak 3 ballistics quirks! But until they fulfill that "promise" then, my particular brand of "hate mongering" will be maintained: screw more mech packs until you make the "end game content" not suck.

I may be able to create a Jupiter out of it.
But I have not enjoyed the King Crab, and have no real fancy for ERLaser boating.
One point to note,
PGI has fulfilled their "promise" of a mech a month. It is up to people who like it to buy it. If someone doesn't, sure. But the mechs have been rolling, and sure, these are the main income generators, people need to eat, and it adds. Varietyto the game, even if it's not some peoples notion of content.
The supernova wasn't my cup of tea this month, let's see what next month offers. Looking forward to the monthly surprise. mK2 , Grizzly, please

But, there's nothing you can really do to the Kodiak that would sufficiently reign it in without making it completely unplayable. They have to redesign the entire suite of equipment to do this, and then quirk all the lower 'Mechs up.

I don't know. Been discussed elsewhere but just take away all positive quirks and maybe a bit of reduced torso twist for starters, and see how that works. I'm not a good enough player for it to matter (I just aim for their CT and hope they have bad aim now, and will likely do the same should they be nerfed in anyway), but my point was merely that what I expect from PGI is, well: more of the same. Something "OP" for the sake of countering what is "OP". For good or ill, that's what I think they will do.

I mean, I was one of the earliest people to suggest reducing its torso motions, but I am still not entirely sure that is enough. It just makes it a little bit harder to play alone, which has very little impact in an organized environment.
But, there's nothing to lose by trying it, not that PGI ever touches base stats on 'Mechs once they are released.

According to the lore the supernova is actually an older design than the nova. Which makes sense.
So Nova is actually MiniSupernova? :0

Name recognition is one of the most important things to think about when you plan on selling a product. That is true even in the Battletech universe. Diamond Shark knew that it would be better to name it the idiotic IS name just because it was more recognizable to the unwashed masses

I know, right? The game itself (QP) seems to be motoring along just fine. The same few people keep spewing negativity and entitlement all over the forums. I continue to enjoy the game, so I'm fine with supporting it.
Sure, the Supernova will be "DOA", but I'm not gonna be butthurt about it. If the Supernova was going to be good, everyone would be complaining about power creep... instead they complain about... not power creep.
Anyway, the Supernova was one of my favourites in MW3, so I will buy it and accept the challenge of playing a "subpar" 'mech.

I don't get it. It's like Russ wants to go the lazy route and/or choosing these unwanted mechs out of fear of 'unbalance'. This game is not battletech anymore, it's more like 'political correctness with giant walking robots'.
/end of rant

The good new is that you can slot extra heat sinks into the engine, and even use single heat sink (which, if you have enough of them, will outperform doubles )

I did some math with the stock build- one can upgrade the engine to max size XL and still have the stock number of heatsinks (six Clan ER Large lasers with 26 heatsinks = 1.09 heat dissipation in current build), plus TC mk III, Endosteel, and close-to-max armor, while retaining all 3 jumpjets, with no internal slots left over.
One of the PTS builds had C ER Large's at 10 damage and 9 energy draw, allowing for one arm to fire at a time without heat penalty, a 30 point alpha over 1.25 (another pts value) seconds at long range.
It does seem that the capacity to be a long-range king-crabalike may exist here, assuming that heat-sink capacity nerfs don't render large energy weapons unusable like in the days before they introduced double-heat-sinks.

Nostalgia. Supernova first debuted in MW3, and was a very iconic looking mech in that game. Same as Bushwacker.
