Conclusion:
When you combine the three factors above, you get the easy to drive, easy to position suppression machine, that just shoves everything off from its sight, essentially giving you the "driving by itself" feeling. Now if you take even one out, the 'magic' evaporates like smoke in the air. As it is said many times before, there isn't anything that special to Kodiak, and even the KDK-3 chassis itself.

How does all of the above add up with you? If we wanted to do something about it, I myself think it like this: when the 'magic' is only in the KDK-3 dakka build, lets alter only the behaviour of that combo. Maybe just adding UAC 5/10 jamming percentage on KDK-3 would make it stand out less?

I very much disagree with the underlined part. Being a Clan Assault battlemech with 400 max engine rating and 4 ballistic high mounts is very very special. It allows a fast Assault ballistic build that does not sacrifice durability or firepower. It is something that cannot be duplicated on any other mechs.

Closest thing one can get is the IS quad UAC5 Mauler, but that mech is forced to equip standard engine which heavily limits its mobility and is forced to strip all of its arm armor to fit in enough ammo. Meanwhile the Kodiak-3 doesn't even have to strip any armor from its highly protective arm armor while running faster and carrying bigger firepower, and peeking more effectively.

Increasing UAC jam chance for the KDK-3 will attract too much negative backlash, I believe. And the PPFLD KDK-3 build is still gonna be effective.

The jam of the uac's is one of the reasons, the dakka build of the KDK-3 ain't that overwhelming! More than just once I was standing in front of the enemy with all four uac's jammed......not a nice feeling!

Okay,

I'll redact the last part of "even the KDK-3 chassis itself". It was added as a afterthought while I considered other than dakka builds. So yes, it is very special.

As a light pilot I don't find the 3 too hard to take out sure a good pilot will make it hard, but a good pilot in any mech makes it hard. It's all about getting them to chase so you can 1v1 them in an area to your strengths. Plus there Alpha isn't as nasty as most assault mechs.
